I also began to make physical activity a bigger part of my life. I started using the gym equipment I had at home and started to spend more time outdoors. I ran, swam, and biked more frequently than before. I even tried out some new activities, such as yoga and Pilates, which helped to improve my flexibility and balance. I also made sure to get adequate sleep every night, which helped to improve my overall energy levels. In addition to these changes, I also started to focus on my mental health. I began to meditate and practice mindfulness, which helped to reduce my stress levels and improve my focus. I am grateful for the opportunity to apply for the Norman H. Becker Integrity and Honor Scholarship, as it will provide me with the resources I need to pursue my educational and career goals.

I am an enthusiastic and ambitious individual looking to make a positive impact on the world through my future career as a Marketing Executive. My current experiences as President of the National Honor Society, Project Literature Book Club, and the Healthy Youth Drug Prevention Club, as well as my role as Marketing Director for Future Business Leaders of America, have equipped me with invaluable skills that will help me create the most positive change within society. Growing up, I have always been driven by the idea of making a difference in the lives of others and this has led me to pursue a degree in marketing. Having studied this field for the past three years, I have come to understand the potential this field holds when it comes to shaping opinions and influencing behavior. The power of marketing is evident in the way companies use it to position their products, services, and brands in the minds of their target audience. This has had a profound effect on how this nation perceives information and I believe that increased intentionality can promote social progress. My interest in marketing was further enhanced through my experience as an intern at Happin. During my time there, I had the opportunity to engage with clients and support the team in researching and executing marketing campaigns. Working with the team gave me an insight into the importance of solid research and strategic thinking in creating effective campaigns. It also made me realize the need for collaboration and communication to ensure that all team members are on the same page. This internship was very insightful, but in order to reach my career goals, I will need to continue to gain practical experience in marketing. I plan to do this by completing more internships and gaining hands-on experience with projects in the industry. This will teach me various marketing tactics that I can utilize and develop to become a successful Marketing Executive. My ambition is to become a Marketing Executive, and in order to do so, I plan to further my education in the field. By achieving a degree in this field, I will be provided with the necessary knowledge and skills I need to successfully lead a marketing team. I am particularly interested in learning more about the latest trends in digital marketing, and how to use them to effectively reach and engage diverse audiences. Additionally, I am eager to learn about the ethical considerations of marketing, and how to ensure that all campaigns are respectful of diverse cultures and identities. I am determined to use my qualifications to help companies and organizations create and implement effective marketing campaigns, with the aim of making a positive difference in the world. I am confident that my knowledge and experience in marketing will enable me to contribute to the field in a meaningful way. Moreover, I am passionate about developing and honing my skills in order to stay ahead of the curve. In the past, I have attended various workshops and meetings to stay abreast of industry trends and to learn from the experiences of successful marketing professionals. I also plan to continue to invest in my professional development in order to stay up to date with the latest developments in the field. Athletics have had a profoundly positive impact on my life. I have been a varsity student-athlete for the past four years and have experienced firsthand the dedication and hard work that is necessary for success. As a result, I have developed important skills that have helped me not only excel in sports but also in academics. Throughout my high school career, I have been a member of the basketball, cross-country, and track and field team, and have had the honor of being elected captain of both the basketball and track teams. This responsibility has enabled me to hone my leadership skills and learn the importance of teamwork. These experiences have enabled me to develop a sense of self-discipline, perseverance, and determination which have been essential in helping me achieve my goals. The importance of sports has also enabled me to appreciate the importance of physical health and wellness. As an athlete, I have developed an understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I have developed a greater appreciation for the value of exercise, nutrition, and rest, as they are essential to maintaining long-term success. Additionally, I have also developed a greater understanding of the importance of proper hydration and how it affects our physical performance. I am also proud to say that I have achieved a 4.617 GPA, which I attribute in part to my commitment to athletics. Through my experience as an athlete, I have learned the importance of time management and the ability to prioritize tasks. This has enabled me to effectively manage my time and balance academics with athletics. Furthermore, I have also developed a strong work ethic, which has motivated me to stay focused and disciplined in my studies. As I look to the future, I am eager to pursue a degree in marketing. My experience as a student-athlete has given me the necessary skills to succeed in this field. My strong understanding of teamwork will be an asset in any marketing position, as collaboration is essential in any team-oriented environment. Additionally, my developed leadership skills will help me to effectively manage any marketing initiatives that I am assigned. Finally, my ability to prioritize tasks and manage my time efficiently will enable me to remain organized and productive in any marketing role. In conclusion, athletics have had a profound impact on my life and have enabled me to develop the skills necessary to pursue a career in marketing. As an African-American student passionate about creating positive social change within America, I am proud to have already taken action to serve my community, state, and country. I have accumulated over 175 hours of community service and have led a variety of projects that have increased diversity and inclusion within my community. One such project involved getting benches installed at local bus stops to ensure that all members of the community, regardless of their economic status, have access to public transportation. I also led a book drive that gathered culturally-relevant books for underprivileged children, and I organized a book discussion with political leaders, religious leaders, students, city council members, school board members, administrators, and teachers. As I continue to pursue positive change, I am now looking to obtain a degree in Marketing, so that I may become a Marketing Executive. I believe that marketing has a strong influence on how this country perceives information and can be properly utilized to promote diversity and limit racial stereotypes. With this degree, I will be able to use my creative and strategic skills to educate the public on the importance of diversity and acceptance, while also fostering a better understanding and appreciation of different backgrounds and cultures. To ensure that I am able to have a positive impact on the marketing industry, I have begun to invest my time and effort in creating a comprehensive understanding of the field. I have extensively researched information on digital media, social media marketing, and advertising to ensure that I am knowledgeable in all areas of marketing. Furthermore, I have also volunteered with organizations that focus on promoting social justice and have gained a greater understanding of how to use marketing to spread positive messages. With the help of this scholarship, I am confident that I will be able to create a better future for my community, state, and country and use my skills to promote acceptance and understanding of different cultures.

I hate seeing people suffer. My commitment to this core value has been the driving force behind my involvement in community service. Growing up in a low-income community, seeing people lack the amenities they need to live comfortably, never really sat well with me. Despite our best efforts, we always felt that injustice had been meted out to us. As a result, I worked hard to limit this inequality by influencing positive change. At the moment, I am leading a book drive, hosting a Racial Equity meeting, attending a Community Wellness program, logging over 175 hours of community service, and much more. Providing these kinds of support to my community has led to positive societal change, but stopping there wasn't enough for me. Rather than creating something temporary, I wanted to create something that would last a lifetime. So, I began working to get benches installed at bus stops. In my community, buses are woven deeply into daily life and provide people with access to school, community resources, medical care, and employment. They are available to anyone who chooses to ride them, but the majority of its riders have no other choice. Unfortunately, these buses don’t have benches or shelters at their stops leaving people to either stand or sit on the ground. This isn’t ideal for the elderly, those with medical conditions, or anyone in inclement weather. To resolve this issue, I started the Benches at Bus Stops Project. I set up a conference at my school with the Mayor, Pace Bus, and Community Representatives. Discussions included costs and materials, funding/sponsorships, and where to start. One challenge was the benches being near private property. Initially, the homeowners were reluctant to agree, but once they understood installation and ongoing maintenance (including trash removal and patrol surveillance) they were on board. After 9 months of hard work and dedication, this project was a success. This singular project has changed the members of my community’s way of thinking and showed them that strategic collaboration between local leaders, neighbors, Pace Bus, and Zion-Benton High School students leads to the cultivation of true community regardless of economic background, medical conditions, or race. They’ve learned that we are all stronger together. My involvement in this project and many others has provided me with the opportunity to help cultivate my community in innovative ways that better the lives of all of its citizens. In the future, I will continue to give my all to my community because this ensures that my community members will be given a better life. It is my ultimate goal in life to limit the suffering others face on a day-to-day basis, and through community service, I have done, and will continue to do, just that.

Marketing has such a strong influence on how this country perceives information. Through Marketing, brands can educate consumers on the injustices that Americans face on a day-to-day basis. This helps to promote the necessary progress we need to see as a society if there is ever to be true change. For this reason, Marketing is my ideal career field. To begin, the presence of inequality within this country is incredibly high. It is largely represented through education, healthcare, and our criminal justice system. As a result, many continue to be oppressed while large brands and corporations are either tone-deaf or reluctant to address it entirely. I believe that through Marketing, we can redirect our future and become a force for good by gaining a better understanding of each demographic and how to service and market to them. If we are able to service people properly, then we can expand our belief system and nurture equality. This not only allows for communities to feel represented but also enables consumers to gain new, more progressive perspectives. When these small changes are implemented properly, the way a business operates can completely change. Within my company, I would make these changes vital, because I believe that through them, true progress can be cultivated. Additionally, Marketing has a strong influence on how consumers perceive information, and increased intentionality can encourage positive results. As unlikely as it may seem, a 15-second commercial, TikTok video, or Instagram Post, can change our mindset, self-esteem, behavior, and life. If we were to look at American society through the eyes of commercials, ads, and social media we would see a homogeneous theme; lack of addressing social issues. With that being said, it's evident that American society has come a long way, but there is still drastic room for growth. People are more informed than ever and intentionally looking for brands and corporations that find addressing these issues important. I believe that increased intentionality could be used to enforce and encourage this message because for American society to progress as a whole, this is heavily important. My ideal future role would be one in which I can make this ideal an instrumental part of a company's mission statement. In an ever-changing society, creating a company that encourages progressive change is vital. Large corporations have the opportunity to promote positive representation and limit damaging stereotypes that affect lower self-esteem/mental health, limit barriers to equal opportunities, and limit violence towards racial groups. It is a known fact that any business, operation, or construct, runs better when we can re-engineer the way we think and use our resources by listening to what is important. Marketing brings something different to the table so if we can properly utilize it properly, then we can change our ideals and how we interact with each other on a societal level. I strongly believe that Marketing is best utilized when it promotes progressive change, and one way or another, my role in Marketing will be to utilize it, and help make these changes permanent.

It is a known fact that any business, operation, or construct, runs better when we can re-engineer the way we think and use our resources by listening to what is important. We each bring something different to the table so if we can change our ideals, then we can change how we interact with each other. I strongly believe that Business can be a force for good, and one way or another my role as a Business Leader will help me to create permanent positive societal change.

I plan on dedicating my life to limiting systemic racism within Marketing. Seeing as this industry is only 2% black, corporations aren’t taking proper steps to address racial inequality and instead prohibit POC from rising to top positions, and market stereotypes and colorism to their audiences. This ends with me. I refuse to sit by while discrimination and racism get marketed to the world.
