    Women in Healthcare Scholarship
I chose to pursue a degree in healthcare because I have always been drawn to helping people in meaningful ways. For me, healthcare is not just about treating illness, it is about being there for people during some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments in their lives. I want to be someone who not only provides care, but also comfort, understanding, and support. My interest in healthcare, especially nursing, has grown through both my experiences and my goals for the future. I have learned how important it is to stay dedicated and focused, especially while balancing school and work. Managing both has taught me responsibility, patience, and how to stay committed even when things are challenging. These experiences have prepared me for the demands of a healthcare career, where being dependable and focused is essential. I am especially motivated by the opportunity to give back to my community. I have seen how some people feel overlooked or misunderstood when it comes to their health, and I want to help change that. As a future nurse, I want my patients to feel heard, respected, and comfortable. I want to build trust with the people I care for, because I believe trust is one of the most important parts of effective healthcare. Being a woman in healthcare is something I take pride in. Women bring compassion, strength, and resilience into this field, and those qualities make a real difference in patient care. At the same time, I understand that women have not always had equal opportunities in healthcare, especially in leadership roles. That motivates me to not only succeed in my career, but also to grow into a position where I can lead, advocate, and open doors for others. Service has already played a major role in my life. I have completed over 100 hours of community service, including volunteering more than 50 hours at my church, Faith Chapel, where I work with children and help support youth activities. Through this experience, I have developed patience, communication skills, and a strong sense of responsibility. Working with kids has taught me how important it is to create a safe and supportive environment, and it has strengthened my passion for helping others in a hands on way. In the future, I hope to make a positive impact by providing not only quality medical care, but also education. I want to help people better understand their health and feel confident making decisions that improve their well being. I also hope to serve as a role model for other young women, showing them that they can pursue careers in healthcare and succeed. Choosing healthcare is a commitment for me. It is a commitment to serving others, continuing to grow, and making a meaningful impact. As a woman entering this field, I am determined to use my voice, my skills, and my experiences to help create a more compassionate and inclusive healthcare system.

Living a life of service is something I try to show through my actions every day, not just in big moments, but in the small ways I support the people around me. Whether it is through helping my community, staying committed to my responsibilities, or preparing for a future in healthcare, I believe service is about consistency, compassion, and being willing to show up for others. One of the main ways I embody service is through my involvement in my church and community. I have completed over 50 hours of community service at Faith Chapel, the church I attend, where I volunteer with children and help support youth activities and events. Working with kids has taught me patience, responsibility, and how important it is to create a safe and encouraging environment. It has shown me that service is not always about recognition, but about making a real difference in people’s lives, especially at a young age. I also balance school with working, which has taught me responsibility, discipline, and how to stay committed even when things get challenging. Even on days when I feel tired or overwhelmed, I still show up and give my best effort. That mindset reflects how I approach serving others. It is not always easy, but it is always worth it. These experiences have shaped me into someone who is dependable and willing to take initiative, which are important qualities in both service and leadership. Service is also about how you treat people. I make an effort to be someone others can rely on, whether that is offering help, listening, or simply being present. In my community, I have seen how important it is for people to feel supported and understood. Sometimes the smallest acts, like being patient or offering encouragement, can make a big difference in someone’s day. I carry that mindset with me because I know that service is about impact, not attention. My faith and values have also played a major role in shaping my understanding of service. Being actively involved at Faith Chapel has strengthened my commitment to helping others and living with purpose. It has taught me the importance of kindness, humility, and giving back without expecting anything in return. Those lessons continue to guide my actions. As I pursue a degree in nursing, I plan to use my education as a way to serve others on a larger scale. Nursing is more than a career to me, it is an opportunity to care for people during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. I want to be a nurse who not only provides medical care but also emotional support. I want my patients to feel heard, respected, and comfortable, especially those who may feel overlooked or misunderstood. In the future, I hope to work in a setting where I can give back to my community and help improve access to quality healthcare. I am especially interested in educating people about their health, because I believe knowledge can empower individuals to make better decisions and live healthier lives. I also want to serve as a role model for others, showing that with hard work and determination, it is possible to achieve your goals and give back at the same time. To me, living a life of service means putting others into consideration, staying committed even when it is difficult, and using your strengths to make a positive difference. Through my education and future career in nursing, I plan to continue serving others with compassion, dedication, and purpose.

I want to pursue a degree in nursing because I have always been drawn to helping people during some of the most important and vulnerable moments of their lives. Nursing is not just about treating illnesses, it is about providing comfort, building trust, and making people feel seen and cared for. I am inspired by the idea that even small acts of compassion can make a lasting difference in someone’s life. My interest in nursing has grown through both my academic experiences and my personal responsibilities. Balancing school while working has taught me discipline, time management, and how to stay committed even when things get challenging. I have learned how to stay calm under pressure and remain focused on my goals, which are qualities that I know are essential in the nursing field. Nursing students face long hours, difficult coursework, and emotionally demanding situations, but I am prepared to take on those challenges because I understand the impact this career can have. What motivates me most is the opportunity to give back to my community. In many communities, including my own, there are people who struggle to access quality healthcare or feel unheard when they do receive it. As a nurse, I want to be someone who listens, advocates, and provides care without judgment. I want patients to feel comfortable asking questions and confident that they are being treated with respect. I believe that building trust between healthcare providers and patients is one of the most important parts of improving health outcomes. In the future, I hope to work in a setting where I can directly serve individuals and families, whether that is in a hospital, clinic, or community health center. I am especially interested in educating patients about preventative care and healthy lifestyle choices, because I believe that knowledge can empower people to take control of their health. By promoting awareness and understanding, I hope to reduce preventable illnesses and improve overall well being in my community. Beyond clinical care, I want to be a role model for others who may be considering a career in healthcare. Representation and encouragement matter, and I want to show that with determination and hard work, it is possible to achieve your goals. I also hope to mentor younger students who are interested in nursing, helping guide them through the process and supporting them along the way. Pursuing a nursing degree is not just a career choice for me, it is a commitment to making a meaningful impact. I am driven by the desire to help others, strengthen my community, and grow into a compassionate and skilled healthcare professional. With the support of this scholarship, I would be able to focus more on my education and continue working toward becoming a nurse who makes a difference every day.

I decided to pursue a career in nursing because I have always had a strong desire to help others in a meaningful and lasting way. For me, nursing is more than just a career. It is a way to show compassion, provide support, and make a real difference in people’s lives during some of their most difficult moments. I want to be someone patients can rely on, not only for medical care but also for comfort and reassurance. My inspiration to go into nursing comes from both my personal experiences and the values I have developed over time. Through volunteering in my community, I have seen how important it is to care for others and be present when people need help. Working with Feed the Valley allowed me to help provide food to families who were struggling, which opened my eyes to how many people depend on support just to meet basic needs. That experience taught me empathy and the importance of showing up for others. I also spent time working with Columbus Youth Football, where I helped mentor younger kids and encourage them to stay focused and confident. In addition, volunteering at my church gave me the opportunity to assist with outreach and support people during difficult times. These experiences all strengthened my passion for helping others and showed me how much of an impact one person can have. Another major step in my journey has been enrolling in a nurse aide fast track program. This has given me a better understanding of what it takes to work in healthcare and has allowed me to begin developing the skills needed to care for patients. Through this experience, I have learned the importance of patience, attention to detail, and treating every individual with respect and dignity. It has also confirmed that nursing is the right path for me because I genuinely enjoy caring for others and being in an environment where I can make a difference. What draws me most to nursing is the human connection. Nurses are often the people who spend the most time with patients, offering not only medical care but also emotional support. I want to be that person who listens, understands, and helps patients feel safe and cared for. Knowing that I can play a role in someone’s recovery or simply make their day a little easier is what motivates me to continue pursuing this career. In the future, I plan to become a registered nurse and continue growing in the healthcare field. I want to work in a setting where I can directly care for patients and support families during challenging times. My goal is to make a lasting impact by combining my skills with genuine compassion and dedication. I found out about this scholarship on the Bold.org scholarship website.

Nursing gives me the opportunity to combine compassion with skill, and that is what makes this career path so meaningful to me. This taught me patience, responsibility, and how to be someone others can look up to. In addition, volunteering at my church allowed me to assist with outreach and support people going through difficult times. Although I am still early in my medical journey, I have already taken steps toward my goals. I am currently involved in a nurse aide fast track program, which is helping me build a foundation in patient care and understand what it takes to work in a healthcare setting. This experience is preparing me for real patient interactions and giving me insight into the level of dedication and attention required in this field. It has confirmed that nursing is the right path for me. My goal is to become a registered nurse and continue advancing in the healthcare field. One of my biggest accomplishments so far is staying committed to my goals while balancing school, work, and volunteering. Managing these responsibilities has taught me discipline, time management, and perseverance. It has not always been easy, but it has helped shape me into someone who is prepared to take on challenges and continue pushing forward. Nursing is more than just a career to me. Making a positive impact on my community has always mattered to me, and it is something I plan to keep building on after college. Through volunteering with Feed the Valley, Columbus Youth Football, and my church, I have seen firsthand how even small efforts can make a real difference in people’s lives. Those experiences have shaped my passion for helping others and pushed me toward a future where I can continue to give back in a meaningful way. Right now, I stay involved by giving my time wherever I am needed. At Feed the Valley, I helped organize and distribute food to families, which showed me how many people depend on community support just to get by. Working with Columbus Youth Football gave me the chance to mentor younger kids and encourage them to stay disciplined, work as a team, and believe in themselves. At my church, I helped with events and outreach that brought people together and supported those going through hard times. Each of these experiences taught me how important it is to show up for others and be someone they can rely on. After college, I plan to grow that impact by pursuing a career in healthcare. My goal is to become a nurse and continue advancing in the medical field so I can care for people during some of the most important and difficult moments in their lives. To me, healthcare is not just about treating a condition. It is about listening, building trust, and making people feel cared for and understood. I want to be the kind of person who brings comfort and reassurance, not just medical help. I also plan to stay connected to my community through volunteering. Giving back will always be a part of who I am. I want to continue working with programs that support families, fight food insecurity, and guide young people in the right direction. Being able to set a positive example for others, especially younger kids, is something that means a lot to me. I believe making the world a better place starts with consistency and genuine care for others. It does not always take something big to make an impact. Sometimes it is as simple as helping someone in need, offering encouragement, or just being there when it matters most. By combining my passion for service with my future career in healthcare, I know I can continue making a difference. Overall, I am committed to growing, learning, and continuing to give back. I want to use everything I gain from my education and experiences to help create a stronger and more supportive community for the people around me.
