Mariah Nichols Memorial Scholarship
Everybody has struggles but it’s how people handle them that makes a difference. I could tell you all the struggles and hard times that I have been through but it doesn’t compare to what some people have gone through. Everybody’s struggles make them who they are today. If I didn’t have so many family and friends struggle with their health and wellbeing then I wouldn’t want to be what I do now, a nurse. I know that the struggles that I face are only setting me up for the good to come. You have to choose to look at things through positive eyes and be open to learning and managing your struggles. That’s the foundation of it all, being able to accept them and turn them into something you can manage and use. When you turn it into something positive you look at it in a better perspective and can learn from it in an easier way. You have to remember that your struggles don’t define who you are, yes they may have made you who you are today but they don’t define you. I’ve learned that it’s part of life and everybody has their ups and downs or struggles. It also brings me at ease knowing that i’m not the only one going through these struggles and somebody else in the world is going through exactly what I am. Use your struggles to make you stronger. I’ll use the struggles that i’ve faced to help me in the future by making sure I understand people more deeply and meaningfully, you never know what somebody’s going through. I will use my struggles to open my eyes and maybe see things and handle things somebody else won’t be able to do. This scholarship wouldn’t just help me and me going to college but it would help me make a difference in the world. I want to be a nurse to help people and try and make them feel better. I went to make this world a better place and this scholarship not only would help me do that but it would mean a tremendous amount to those I help and those around me. This scholarship will help me be financially stable and be able to focus more on my school work than struggling to make it by. My parents have taught me from the get go to work hard for what you want and I know that no matter what I will make a difference in this world and I hope I can do that with this scholarship and honor of Mariah.
