Hi, my name is Jana Pabiona, and I am a Filipino first-gen immigrant. I am a senior who will be attending the University of California, Irvine to study public health. I plan to complete an ABSN program after my undergraduate degree and become either a public health nurse or a pediatric RN. I am co-president of the art club at Stockdale High School and I also am a Certified Nursing Assistant. Outside of school, I work as a freelance artist and volunteer with Bakersfield Memorial Hospital at Dignity Health I am part of the LGBTQ+ community, and my identity has shaped how I see the importance of inclusive and compassionate healthcare. I want to be someone patients can trust and feel safe with, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. In the future, I hope to advocate for patients and improve access to equitable healthcare in my community.
