Having three children and being a single parent, it's been somewhat challenging. But I want my children to see that not only is getting a higher education so important, but you can do so at any age. I want them to grow up knowing that they can achieve anything that they set their mind to despite how difficult things may be sometimes. Being a single parent with three children you have to learn how to juggle being a mom, and also keeping up with your school work. There's some days that I feel like I get very little sleep, but I know that the end result is going to be well worth it. They inspire me to not only be the best mom that I can be, but they also inspire me to keep pushing forward no matter how difficult things may seem in the present moment. They often give me notes of encouragement, and they are cheering for me when they know that I have tests or even exams to take. I want them to look back on these times when they have become adults, and remember that they are capable of achieving anything that they set their minds to. I hope that I have been able to inspire them when they become adults. Life isn't always easy especially when you're doing things alone, but I feel like it's all about balance. There's no point in getting upset over things that you cannot control, but know that despite any storms that women may be going through there's always a brighter side. I can only hope to inspire other single mothers to pursue higher education, as it will only be beneficial to them in the end. And then they can look back on their experiences, and see that everything that they went through has been well worth it. If elderly people can go after their GED, then there's nothing to say that a single mother in their 40s can't go after a degree themselves. There's so many opportunities out there, and I feel like going after your dreams is by far the best decision that anyone can make it any age. It gives you a sense of completeness and knowing that you can conquer anything at any age for that matter. This has definitely impacted my journey and a very positive manner, and I look forward to where this journey is going to take me beyond getting a degree.
