Beyond The Statistics
My name is JaMia Burton, and I am a 17 year-old student at Georgia Chaffee TAPP. I have a baby boy named JuZye Noel and he will soon be 1 years old on June 13. I am an honor roll student who enjoys cooking and cleaning. I always believed that education is the key to creating opportunities and building a better future. As my academic journey continues, my future involves pursuing a career in Nursing. I hope to use my knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in my community.Throughout my time at school, I have learned the importance of dedication, perseverance, and responsibility. Balancing academics with extracurricular activities and personal responsibilities has taught me valuable time management and leadership skills. Whether working on group projects, participating in school organizations, or helping classmates. I strive to give my best effort and contribute positively to my learning environment.
My experiences in school, along with becoming a mother, have helped shape my goals, strengthened my determination, and motivated me to work hard toward achieving my dreams. I plan to attend Jefferson Community & Technical College for two years and transfer to Kentucky State University to get my Bachelor's degree. Being a single mother has played a major role in shaping my perspective on life and my determination to pursue my dreams after high school. Becoming a mother at 16 came with many challenges, including balancing school responsibilities, parenting, and planning for the future. There were moments when the path ahead felt overwhelming, but those experiences made me resilient and pushed me to work harder.
My child has become my greatest motivation, inspiring me to build a stable and successful future for both of us. Since becoming a mother, my thinking has matured, and I now approach my education and career goals with a deeper sense of responsibility and purpose. I am no longer working only for myself but for the life I want to create for my child, which drives me to stay focused, determined, and committed to continuing my education after graduation.
I plan to make a positive impact on my community by using my education and career to support and uplift others who may face challenges similar to my own. Through my future career in Nursing, I hope to create opportunities, provide support, and be a role model for young people and families who may feel discouraged about their circumstances. My plan is to use the knowledge and skills I gain from my education to help improve the lives of those around me, whether that means providing services, mentoring others, or helping people access the resources they need to succeed. By sharing my story and giving back to my community as a nurse, I hope to show others that challenges do not have to limit their future. My career will allow me to make meaningful contributions that strengthen my community while also inspiring others to pursue their own goals and build better lives for themselves and their families.
Receiving this scholarship would allow me to continue pursuing my educational goals and relieve some of the financial challenges that come with being a single mom pursuing higher education. With this opportunity, I will be able to focus more on my studies and continue working toward my dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. I am committed to using my education to grow personally and professionally while making a meaningful difference in the lives of my patients.
