Growing up, I lived with my aunt instead of my parents, and that meant becoming independent much earlier than most people my age. I had to figure out school, responsibilities, and everyday life on my own. By 15, I was already working—not for extra money, but to cover my own personal needs. Paying for my essentials while keeping up with school taught me discipline, focus, and how to rely on myself even when things were difficult.
These experiences shaped my determination to be one of the first in my family to go to college. I want to build a future that looks different from the one I grew up in, and my goal is to start my own HVACR business. I’m drawn to this field because it’s hands‑on, stable, and gives me the chance to create opportunities not just for myself, but eventually for others in my community.
Financially, college is a challenge for my family, and a scholarship would help me stay focused on my education instead of worrying about how to afford it. Everything I’ve been through has pushed me to work hard and stay committed to my goals, and earning my degree would be a major step toward building the life and business I’ve always envisioned
