My life goal is to travel around and become a hyperbaric welder. Now I'm starting out in basic welding classes to get my certificate at Summit college. Weld Our Soul Scholarship
My name is Jalyn Heagstedt and I am eighteen years old. I would like to pursue being a welder as its something I know I'm passionate about> This career automatically caught my attention with how much hands on it is. I am a very hard worker seeing as I have been working full time since the age of fifteen to save up money in order to pursue this career in welding. Along with learning how to always be my most independent self and going after what I want in life. I am always given promotions at every job I worked with along with being offered a manager position at my last job. I am always ready to tackle any obstacle in my way with the utmost haste. I think this would be the perfect career for me because I am resilient, hard working, independent, adaptable to any environment, and always ready for a challenge.
My goal after getting this career in Welding is to move up to underwater welding. I have always loved the water since I was a little girl. I would love to be able to do the two things I enjoy in life together and make a career about it. I know underwater welding is more risk taking then just regular welding but I am willing to push myself to get into it. This scholarship will help me get into the basic welding necessities I need to put myself in this work field and further along my career. I have been saving up for a while but this scholarship will give me the push I need.
I got into this college I like in San Bernardino, California called Summit College that has a really good hands on program and teaches you all the different welding processes. It teaches you all the different welding techniques that you need for any career in welding such as oil rig welder, construction welder, pipeline welding and manufacturing welders. After this program I plan to still stay in school I further my education by getting an associate degree and moving farther up in the welding industries. I would even like to travel and weld around the world to explore and see how new constructions are made. No one in my family is a welder but I would like to make my career about it. As it has always been my interest since I have been in high-school and I'm just glad I am able to get into now that I have graduated highschool and found a college I like.
