Nursing is a career that offers a unique combination of hands-on care and emotional support to those in need. There are many reasons why someone might choose to become a nurse, including: I have a strong desire to help people and hope to become a nurse. I think nursing is the best way for me to make a difference in other people’s lives because it combines my natural empathy and desire to help people. Nursing gives me a chance to positively touch people’s lives, which has always attracted me to the thought of doing so. I think that becoming a nurse is a great and selfless job. To provide for their patients and ensure they are secure and comfortable, nurses put their own needs on hold. I absolutely respect this kind of dedication to helping others, and I aim to exhibit it in my own nursing career. The financial stability that comes with being a nurse is one of the reasons I wish to pursue this career. Nursing is a field that is in high demand, which translates to a wealth of job opportunities and competitive salaries. This profession offers the chance for a stable income, which makes it a good choice for people who want to secure their financial future. Nursing not only gives economic freedom but also a flexible work schedule that promotes a healthy work-life balance. Many nurses can choose to work part-time or in a variety of places, such as clinics, hospitals, and schools. To succeed in the unique field of nursing, one must have both artistic talent and scientific knowledge. This mix is what initially drew me to the thought of becoming a nurse. The human body and its mechanisms have always captivated me, and I enjoy learning about the science that underpins healthcare. But nursing requires more than just a scientific knowledge of the body. It also requires an artistic understanding of the patient and their needs. Nursing is a demanding and fulfilling job since it combines science and art, which is why I’m drawn to it. I saw as a child the effect nurses had on patients and their families. Their compassion and understanding have motivated me to seek a profession in nursing because they frequently offer comfort and help in the hardest of situations. My enthusiasm for the science and art of nursing will undoubtedly help me to have a good influence on other people’s lives. I want to work as a nurse and improve the lives of the people I take care of, whether it be by giving medication, educating patients, or just being a reassuring presence.

When I first entered the workforce, I didn't follow my dreams; I did what was most familiar. For many years, I have wanted to be a nurse, but I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to do it. Florence Nightengale is right. Fear stops people from achieving their potential. Choosing a profession in nursing was not as easy for me as it may have been for others. I am not the daughter of a nurse. My grandfather was not a physician; my father was not a surgeon. My mother was a corporate executive; my father Chief of police; and my grandfather an electrician. My own career goals were not clear to me in high school and so I simply followed familiar steps. To follow my own interests simply brought too much fear with it. For two and a half rewarding years, I became a full-time mother. I stayed home with my children and volunteered at local schools, in our community and at our church, serving on the PTO, running a youth wrestling club, and helping to start a backpack program in local elementary schools. By 2010, my youngest children were ready to go to kindergarten, and it was time for me to reenter the workforce. I decided it was also time for me to be bold in the pursuit of my dream. Having excelled at serving medical professionals in business and having kept a household with four children running smoothly, I was finally ready to apply to nursing school. The projects and initiatives that I am a part of have been satisfying because I contribute meaningfully to the community. I imagine that nurses experience that feeling a lot. What could be more meaningful than to restore the health of another person? These projects also showed me that the risk is worth the reward and that I have the capability and determination to excel no matter what I decide to do. A career in nursing means more to me than a good salary, the ability to help people and potential for growth. The field of nursing provides endless potential for exciting and rewarding possibilities. As a nurse, I will contribute to helping people live longer, richer lives. I will empty bedpans, but I will also witness miracles. I will bring added value to my community, be more aware of my own health, and join a profession which will let me to do what I love anywhere I choose to live; an important advantage in today's mobile society. I will have the opportunity to not just witness but play a role in the progress that our scientific and medical community continually makes. When I explored my passions and imagined where I would be most effective it wasn't hard to decide what path to follow. Being a nurse will allow me to use my life experiences to do something I have always wanted to do and accomplish my goal of keeping honest care the part of any cure.

My name is JaLisa Curry, I currently reside in Marion, South Carolina. I have worked in the medical field since the year of 2016. I graduated in 2016 with my certificate in Medical Assistant from Virginia College. I plan to make a positive impact on the world by developing a center to care for the individuals who are in need. Caring for others is my passion. I enjoy being able to help someone complete a task. I enjoy being able to send in medication refills for patients to have them delivered to their home because they do not have the proper transportation. It is simply my passion to care and be a leaning shoulder for ones in need. I think nursing is the perfect career for me. The reason why people in need interest me so much because when I was a teenager my father took me and my siblings on a trip to Georgia to Six Flags. While we were traveling, I seen a church and, on the church, steps were several individuals covered in blankets, boxes, tents, and single sheets. Ever since that trip to Georgia it was a life goal for me to put myself in a position to help others. Once I graduate nursing school, I plan to get at least one year of experience before I return to become a nurse practitioner. After I have completed my program for a nurse practitioner I plan to open a center for individuals who are need. Most homeless people do not have family or friends that they can lean on during this rough patch in life. Within the center will be ways for individuals to utilize the resources that are available for them, which will include help with housing, clothing and essential needs. I will also try to have it set up where the women with children have help with getting the proper care if they have children. There will also be opportunities for individuals to complete volunteer work. With the people being able to compete volunteer work it will give them a opportunity to see that they still have a chance to make a difference in life. My goal for the program would be to let people know that it is not the end of the world because of their current situation. Every person deserves a second chance. This center will be a non-judgmental zone and it will also have zero tolerance.
