At the beginning of high school, I didn't realise that the grades I got in high school were going to decide the college that I would go to and basically my future. I wouldn't say my grades were bad, but I also will not say they were good. I got a lot of B's and C's, and I got a D or 2 in a class for a quarter. After sophomore year, I realised that if I wanted to go to college and have a good future, I would have to lock in and school and do all my work with 100% effort. That is exactly what I have been doing this past year. In my junior year of high school, I have gotten honor roll in all 4 quarters, and it is only going to get better. I am excited for college because it is going to teach me a lot of lessons in life. My favorite quote is "the best lessons in life are the ones that you never see coming. I know when college comes, I will have to deal with a lot of hardship and struggles to get where I want to be. The good part is that I am prepared for it. I'm not sure what is going to come to me in the future, whether it is good or bad, but all I know is that I am going to get through it with 100% effort! Another reason I am excited for college is that I am going to meet new people and live in a new environment. I have never lived alone, and I have never had the amount of freedom I am going to have when I go to college, so that is going to be a new and exciting experience for me. I plan to take advantage of the new opportunities in college. My grades start fresh, and I am going to take full advantage of that and put in 100% effort from the start. Now that I am more knowledgeable about what grades do for me, I am going to be locked in. Besides grades, I plan to meet a lot of new friends and new people from different states and different parts of the world. I will probably meet people who are more knowledgeable in things that I am not as knowledgeable in, and I can learn from them. I am very excited to be able to have that opportunity. In conclusion, I learned a lesson throughout high school: I should go 100% from the start, no matter what. I might not have the best grades or be the smartest guy in the world, but what I can say is that I will put in effort like no one else will. College will be a wonderful experience for me, and I am prepared for all the life lessons and challenges that I will go through. Hopefully, even though my GPA is not the best, the colleges will still see everything else that I have done and consider me to get into the college of my choice. These are the challenges that I've faced, and this is why I am excited for college.

Every person has at least one teacher who changed their lives forever. For me, I can say I've had plenty of teachers that has helped me learn and prosper and school. On the other hand, I can't say that any teacher has changed my life, to be honest. I do not want kids to have the same experience as I. I want them to have a teacher who changed their whole lives. From the way they look at school to the way they look at life, I want them to have that. I want to be that person for them. Of course, I will teach them the curriculum they are supposed to be learning, but I want them to learn more than just the subject when they are in my class. I want to teach them what's right from wrong. I would also like to teach them other little tips and tricks that will help them in life that I did not have growing up. I want them to be able to come to me about their problem, and I want them to prosper in life. Another thing, I feel as though children are not getting the proper education because they don't have the right teachers. I do not think it is because of the lessons or the lesson plans. The teacher makes the class, and as a teacher, you are supposed to find things to keep the students engaged. I think I am good at that because I am likable, and I know what a kid would like to talk about and what will engage them in conversation. The one teacher that I can say changed my views on teachers was my 6th-grade teacher, Mr. Molden. His class changed my views because it was different then any other class that I was in. He makes it a very child-friendly environment during and after the lesson. He has different prizes and gifts that would make us engaged and encourage us to finish the assignment, so we were able to have them. He had stuff like Xboxes, foosball tables, scooters, anything you can think of in the class. Also,o during the tests, there would be popcorn, and anyone who got a passing grade would get it. I think being a teacher like him would engage the class and make them enjoy school instead of hating it. Although I loved his class a lot, I feel like there was more play than there was learning, so I will try to take what he did and make it better. In conclusion, I think I am interested in being a teacher for plenty of reasons. I want to educate the children on not just the curriculum but on other things that will help them in life. In my classroom, I want them to learn,, butIi also want them to think of school as something they would want to come to every day and not something they would be forced to go to. I want to be a comfort teacher where, if there is something they do not want to tell everyone else, they can come to me to talk about it. I want to be the teacher who will change students!!

I forget who I heard this from when I was young, but somebody told me to never call someone homeless and to call them someone who is experiencing homelessness. When you think about it, everyone goes through struggle and hardship in life, and some are worse than others. This is why Community service is important in life. Ever since I heard that for the first time, I've always wanted to help people through tough times. Whether it is going to food drives and giving out food to the homeless, to even just giving a man on the street who is begging a couple of dollars, I know it is going to benefit me and them by building a better community to help peopwhohat are going through hardships or experiencing homelessness have a better time in life. Currently, I am involved in a couple of community service programs. I practice the religion of Islam, and there is a month called Ramadan. Every Ramadan, my family and I attend different events. In theeventsent,, distribute food, clothing, andonatemoneyton need. At the end of Ramadan, there is a celebration day called Eid. On that day me and my family host an event at a local park every year where people of all ages, sizes and races come together and get free food, different events and we all pray together. I love it when this happens because we can see the community all working together to create something nice. I intend to use my degree to help others in multiple ways. I want to go into the education field so I have ample opportunities to help out children in need. I want to encourage students to not only do good in school but to do good in life as well. As a teacher, I will be able to teach the children about giving back to the community and helping people in need. Outside of the community service, I will make sure that whatever subject I am teaching, the children will be 100% more knowledgeable about than when they first entered the classroom. When I grow older and have a stable income, I will be able to do way more for the community than I am already doing. I will be able to donate to better causes and be able to fund more activities for the community when I have more money. For right now, I think I can go to more community service events to help out the people in need. My goal before college is to get 75 service hours because that would make my resume look better and it would also help me feel better as a person. In conclusion, I think community service is very important. When you do community service, you aren't just helping yourself; you are helping everyone around you. You shouldn't do it because someone is forcing you should want to do it to help. Everyone does community service differently, and you just have to find yours. This is why Community service is important to me.

Black excellence is not just a phrase it is a lifestyle. When I think about black excellence I think about how the black men and women from around the world prosper. From working hard in their jobs to even how they carry themselves you can tell when somebody is showing black excellence. I've heard this phrase a lot more recently and I started to think about it more frequently. I embody black excellence in my everyday life. I do this when I go into a public setting such as work or school I take pride in what I do and what I look like. For example: when I go into work I look professional. I iron my shirt, I make sure there are no stains and I put on cologne. My dad always told me that people will judge you after looking at you once so it is good to have a great first impression. Another example of "Black excellence" would be showing effort. In school or in work I have 100% effort at all times. Say if someone like an employer or a teacher doesn't see black people in a good light, if they see even just a couple of black people using 100% effort and working to their max ability it might change their minds on the race as a whole. Just doing little things like that can change everyone around you. Last example I have is to show respect. When you are in a place of business or even just hanging out with your friends you should act respectful. If you are working with someone that is older than you, you should address them as sir or ma'am. If you are with your peers you should be kind and just show respect for them at all times. Being respectful brings you a long way in life especially as a black man. In conclusion the term "Black excellence" is not just a phrase it is a lifestyle. Whether it is at your job place or you are just hanging out with your peers you should always show black excellence. You can show that by being respectful, kind, you should give 100% effort in everything that you do and you should present yourself well. When I say that I mean you should have your clothes ironed, you should smell nice and you should always hold your head high with a smile on your face. This is Black excellence.
