I am the first person in my family to attend college, something I never thought would be possible. For a long time, I doubted my abilities, especially under the pressure of wanting to be perfect for my family. While I’ve had support along the way, the journey has still felt overwhelming.
College so far has taught me to push myself beyond my limits, but also to celebrate myself even when I may not achieve something I hoped for. As a first-generation student, it’s easy to spread yourself thin without realizing it. That’s why I’m grateful to have found strong community spaces with people from similar backgrounds and mindsets. These connections have played a big role in helping me grow and stay motivated. I’ve also had the opportunity to make meaningful impacts in my community, which has broadened my perspective and helped me grow not just as a student, but as a person.
My goal is to graduate from college and pursue a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. I dream of working in pediatrics and traveling the world, serving in different clinical settings. One day, I hope to open my own clinic to provide accessible healthcare to underrepresented communities.
I believe everyone deserves quality care, regardless of financial situation, because I know what it’s like to face those challenges. I want to help contribute in shaping young minds across many different areas in the world by supporting children in their development and recognizing the strengths they already have. It’s our responsibility to help uplift younger generations grow into healthy, confident individuals.
