I am a person shaped by perseverance, compassion, and a deep desire to serve others. From a young age, I faced challenges that required resilience and patience. I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of six and suffered from seizures until I was fourteen. These experiences influenced not only how I learned and interacted with the world but also how I developed a quiet strength that now drives me in everything I do.
Despite the physical and emotional challenges I faced growing up, I’ve always found ways to stay involved, grow, and support others. Music became my outlet. I joined band in fifth grade and continued through high school, eventually earning recognition as an alternate for the All-Region Band in both 2023 and 2025. The discipline, teamwork, and self-expression I developed in band taught me how to turn obstacles into motivation.
Service and leadership have also been important parts of my journey. I’ve volunteered with the Hope Lions Club Food Bank, helping distribute food to underserved families. I’ve led a youth soccer camp, ensuring kids in our community—regardless of background—could experience the joy of teamwork and play. I also participated in our school’s soccer team and band, both of which gave me opportunities to grow as a teammate and a leader. In addition, I’ve served as a mentor to a college student and helped with back-to-school events. Through these activities, I discovered the importance of showing up for others, listening, and creating a sense of belonging—especially for those who might feel left out or unheard.
These experiences have fueled my passion for forensic science. I’m fascinated by the way science and investigation can come together to uncover truth and bring justice to those who may not otherwise have a voice. My interest in this field is not just academic—it’s personal. I want to use my strengths in observation, analysis, and communication to help solve problems, support victims, and make communities safer. Knowing that I could play a role in bringing clarity to complex cases gives me purpose.
To achieve this, I am committed to pursuing a degree in forensic science. This program will give me the technical knowledge and scientific foundation I need to work in crime labs or investigative units, where accuracy, ethics, and critical thinking are essential. I want to learn from experienced professionals, engage in research, and gain hands-on experience that will prepare me to enter the field with confidence.
But my goals go beyond a career. I want to use my education to uplift others—especially those who, like me, have faced challenges that made them feel different or discouraged. Whether through mentorship, community outreach, or advocating for greater diversity and inclusion in STEM fields, I plan to give back to the communities that helped shape me. I want others to see that a diagnosis or a setback doesn’t define your future—it’s how you grow from it that matters.
Earning this degree is not just about what I will accomplish, but how I will serve. I want to be someone who uses science and compassion together, someone who brings truth to light and hope to difficult situations. Through my education and my commitment to service, I hope to make a lasting impact—both in my field and in the lives of those around me.

One of the most meaningful ways I’ve contributed to marginalized and underserved populations has been through my involvement in volunteer efforts that directly support community needs. Two projects that stand out in my experience are my work with the Lions Club Food Bank and my participation in a local youth soccer camp. Though different in focus, both experiences have allowed me to actively serve those in need while developing leadership and compassion.
My involvement with the Hope Lions Club Food Bank began as a way to give back to my community, but it quickly became something more personal. I helped organize and distribute food to families experiencing food insecurity. Many of these families included young children, elderly individuals, or people with disabilities who struggled to make ends meet. By offering my time and energy, I was able to be part of a program that ensured basic needs were met in times of uncertainty. I learned to pack boxes efficiently, assist with check-in, and offer respectful, friendly service to every person who came through the line. What seemed like a small act—handing someone a box of groceries—meant relief, support, and dignity for people who often go unseen.
This experience opened my eyes to the daily struggles of people living just a few blocks away from me. It also reminded me of my own challenges and how important it is to receive support when you need it most. Volunteering at the food bank was not just about handing out supplies—it was about listening to people, sharing a kind word, and making them feel seen and respected.
In addition to my work with the food bank, I also helped lead a youth soccer camp in our community. This project was especially close to my heart, as I had played soccer for two years and wanted to share the same sense of teamwork and confidence it had given me. Many of the children who attended the camp came from low-income families and didn’t have access to organized sports due to cost, transportation, or lack of equipment. We worked to provide a safe, welcoming space for them to play, learn, and grow—at no cost to their families.
I helped run drills, guided warm-ups, and encouraged the kids to support one another on and off the field. For many of them, this camp was their first experience playing on a team or being cheered on for their efforts. Watching them grow in confidence over the course of a few days was one of the most rewarding things I’ve been part of. What began as a simple summer camp became a place where young kids felt empowered and included.
Both of these experiences reflect what I value most: making a difference where it’s needed most and lifting others up through simple, consistent acts of service. Whether it’s providing food or fostering a love of sports, I believe that even small efforts can have a lasting impact. These projects have inspired me to continue finding ways to support underserved communities, and they’ve shaped my desire to pursue a career in forensic science—a field where I can help bring justice and resolution to those who are too often overlooked.
Serving others has helped me discover my voice and my purpose. I am proud of these self-initiated efforts and look forward to continuing this work as I grow in both my education and my career.

The personal achievement I am most proud of is not a single trophy or certificate, but a journey—one marked by resilience, patience, and passion. I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of six and suffered from seizures until I was fourteen. These challenges affected my physical abilities and social development in many ways, often making it hard to participate in typical childhood activities. But instead of letting these difficulties define me, I found purpose and identity through music—specifically, my years in band.
Joining band in the fifth grade was a pivotal moment in my life. At a time when I struggled to connect with others and participate in physical activities, music offered me a way to express myself without words. The structure and rhythm of music helped bring a sense of calm to my often-overwhelming world. As I learned to read music and play my instrument, I also learned to be part of a team, follow direction, and push myself to grow skills that did not always come easily to me.
Band wasn’t just an extracurricular activity; it became my safe space. When I was dealing with the physical exhaustion that followed seizures, music gave me a reason to keep showing up. When I felt isolated because I processed the world differently, band brought me into a community where my contributions mattered. Every rehearsal, performance, and competition was a step forward, not only in musical skill but in self-confidence and personal development.
By the time I reached high school, I had become deeply committed to band. I practiced diligently and earned a spot as an alternate in the All-Region Band in both 2023 and 2025. Although I didn’t make first chair, being selected as an alternate was still a major victory. It showed that my hard work and dedication were being recognized, and it reminded me that success isn’t always about being the best, sometimes it’s about showing up, improving, and never giving up.
Living with autism and recovering from seizures has taught me the value of perseverance. There were moments when learning a new piece of music felt impossible or when sensory overload made rehearsals difficult. But I never gave up. I adapted. I listened. I learned how to ask for help when I needed it and offer help when I could. These experiences taught me how to overcome adversity—lessons that have carried into every other part of my life.
Being in band has also shaped the way I interact with others. Collaboration became second nature. I learned to listen actively, communicate clearly, and contribute positively to group efforts—whether we were preparing for a performance or just getting through a long practice. Those skills have helped me in academics, sports, and community service. They’ve also strengthened my desire to pursue a career in forensic science, where teamwork, attention to detail, and communication are essential.
In many ways, my time in band helped me redefine what achievement means. It’s not about having a perfect score or a flawless performance. It’s about growth—about facing personal challenges head-on and emerging stronger. I’m proud of my ability to stay committed to music through nearly a decade of personal hardship. That journey has not only helped me develop resilience but also given me the confidence to aim high, knowing I’ve already overcome more than many people ever will.
Music changed my life. It gave me purpose when I felt lost, community when I felt alone, and strength when I felt weak. That is why continuing with band from fifth grade until graduation remains my proudest achievement.

Furthering my education is important to me because it represents a path toward healing, purpose, and justice. I plan to pursue a degree in criminal justice and become a forensic investigator. My goal is rooted in personal experience—both painful and motivating. While my mother was pregnant with me, she was in an abusive relationship. As a result, I was born on the autism spectrum and suffered from seizures until the age of 14. These challenges have shaped who I am and have made me determined to use my life to help others who are affected by crime, trauma, or injustice.
My past has not been easy, but I’ve never let it define my limits. Instead, I use it as a reason to keep moving forward. Education offers me a future where I can take control of my story and support others in finding justice. Through criminal justice and forensic science, I hope to bring truth to light and provide peace for victims and their families who deserve answers and closure.
One of the things that has helped me most in life is music. I joined the band in sixth grade and have been in it ever since. Band has given me structure, confidence, and a sense of belonging. It’s helped me develop discipline, focus, and the ability to work as part of a team. Music became a way for me to express emotions I didn’t always have words for, especially during the years I struggled with seizures and anxiety. When life felt out of control, music was something I could count on to bring comfort, stability, and emotional release.
Art and music continue to help me cope with stress, anxiety, and personal challenges. They offer a calming space where I can feel free, creative, and accepted. Being part of a musical group has taught me how to support others, how to lead when needed, and how to push through tough situations with grace, patience, and determination. These are lessons I’ll carry with me into my career and life.
Although I wasn’t the direct victim of a crime, my mother’s abuse left deep effects on my life. That experience is what drives me to study criminal justice. I want to help solve cases, find the truth, and make a real difference. Earning a college education will give me the tools I need to reach those goals and create a future filled with purpose, hope, and strength.

One of the most meaningful community events I have participated in is the Hope Lions Club food drive, where I volunteered to help pass out food to individuals and families in need. This experience was not only rewarding but also deeply impactful, as it allowed me to witness firsthand the struggles that many in my community face and the importance of collective support in addressing these challenges.
The food drive was more than just an opportunity to serve; it was a chance to connect with people, hear their stories, and understand the significance of even the smallest act of kindness. I remember the expressions of gratitude from individuals receiving food, the relief in their eyes, and the sense of hope that such an event instilled in them. It reinforced my belief that community service is not just about giving material goods—it is about providing dignity, compassion, and reassurance to those in need.
This event was especially meaningful to me because it highlighted the power of teamwork. Volunteers from different backgrounds, including students like myself, local business owners, and dedicated community members, came together with a shared purpose. Despite our differences, we worked seamlessly to organize food distribution, ensure fairness, and make the process as smooth as possible for recipients. It reminded me of my experiences in robotics and band, where collaboration is key to success. Whether designing a robot, performing in a musical ensemble, or assisting in a food drive, effective teamwork leads to positive outcomes.
Beyond its immediate impact, the Hope Lions Club food drive inspired me to think about the long-term changes that such events can bring to a community. While food drives provide crucial short-term relief, they also highlight the ongoing need for sustainable solutions to food insecurity. One positive change I would love to see is an expansion of community programs that not only provide food but also offer resources to help individuals achieve long-term stability, such as job training, financial literacy programs, and educational support for children.
Additionally, I hope events like this inspire more youth involvement in community service. Many young people are eager to make a difference but may not know where to start. By increasing awareness and engagement in service-oriented activities, we can foster a culture of empathy and social responsibility among the next generation.
In conclusion, my participation in the Hope Lions Club food drive was a deeply meaningful experience that reinforced my commitment to serving others. It reminded me of the importance of community, teamwork, and proactive solutions to pressing issues. Moving forward, I hope to see continued growth in initiatives that address food insecurity and a greater emphasis on empowering individuals to achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Through consistent community effort, we can create a future where no one has to worry about where their next meal will come from, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
