My name is Jakeysha Johnson. I am a junior at The University of South Alabama. I am studying political science. my minor is criminal justice. My goal is to become a family law attorney. I love children, and I want to be an advocate for them. More often times than not, their voices are looked over and ignored, but I want to change that. I want to help amplify their voices so that they are heard, and cared for in the best way possible. Growing up, life was challenging for me in many ways. I was not the richest, I didn't have the nicest clothes, and I wasn't popular. Not I am not saying that my parents didn't do a great job, but life was rough; for all of us. I do not want that for the children that are growing in the world today. I want them to feel free to be themselves and express themselves while still receiving the love and care from their family. One of the main problems I see today that children face is abuse. Whether it be physical, ranging to mental, it breaks my heart to see. No one, let alone child, should have to endure that. And often times, parents use the excuse of "They are just children they will get over it". I believe that that is the mindset that is very toxic and unhealthy. My goal is to get children out of those situations, and into they love and care of someone who will not only the love, dignity, and respect that they deserve as human beings, but to make sure that they are happy and satisfied with their childhood. After all, the children of today will be the adults of tomorrow. Therefore they must be molded properly so they can grow up and do the same thing. This is just a small summary of the impact that I want to have going into my career. There is so much more that I want to do in my life, and it all revolves around children and the love and care that they need and deserve. With my impact, I hope that others will see the work that I do and be inspired to continue on my legacy while I am alive as well as when I pass. This is a subject that I am very passionate about, so I want to do my very best and then some!
