Being a first-generation college student is a very proud milestone for me and my family, but it also brings a lot of heavy pressure. I constantly worry about living up to my family's expectations, as well as the strict standards I set for myself. Because my mother has put so much faith in me and the path that I've chosen to go down that I always feel like I cannot afford to fail.The fear of letting them down, combined with the challenge of navigating higher education entirely on my own,has been my biggest challenge yet. I overcame this pressure by turning it into motivation. Since I could not ask my Mother for high school or college advice, I had to figure things out myself. I forced myself to step out of my comfort zone, find helpful mentors/ counselors, and use campus resources to learn how everything works. My goal is to become an animator and create worlds that tell great stories. However, I do not want to stop there. I want to use animation as a gateway into the wider film industry. I am driven to learn multiple different sides of the film industry, such as working as a video editor, a voice actor, a content creator, and a cameraman. I want to understand every single creative and moving part behind filming making. This scholarship will help move me closer to my goals by giving me financial and mental relief. Right now, the stress of paying for school takes time away from my craft. This money will let me focus on mastering my animation style, post more content on social media frequently,and build my portfolio instead of working long hours at a survival job. With your support, I can confidently continue my creative ambitions with a clear determined focus on my future.

How do I plan to make a positive impact on the world through your art or music? I want to use my art: stop-motion animations and figure photography. By using action figures to tell a story or a funny skit to give people some small type of enjoyment in their day to day life and show them that they too can do the same without needing anything fancy or expensive to make something beautiful, that they don't need a big Hollywood budget or a lot of professional studio equipment to get started. You just need a good idea, some patience, a phone, and the drive to keep trying. My mother always told me to believe in my own voice and to share my talents with the world. So as I enter college and start this next chapter of my life I hope to inspire other everyday people to start creating their own unique art with whatever materials they have at home, proving that resourceful imagination is the most powerful tool any artist can possess.

I discovered a YouTuber called Lozaus1, who made videos featuring one of my favorite heroes, Spider-Man. His work truly captivated me, sparking a persistent thought: if he could do it, maybe I could too. I began to see my action figures capable of starring in my own original storylines and adventures. This early inspiration is what ultimately led me to choose stop-motion as my specific art form. The reason stop-motion continues to fascinate me is its unique nature. Unlike 2D or 3D animation, which exist purely in a digital or flat plane, stop-motion is tangible. There is something incredibly rewarding about a medium where you can feel the texture of the plastic on a character’s face or smell the drying paint and Mod Podge used to construct a miniature set from scratch. It requires an intense, meditative focus that few other hobbies demand. To successfully breathe life into a static object, you must have a understanding of the physics of weight, the subtlety of human movement, and the foundational 12 principles of animation. Every frame is a conscious, physical decision. My involvement in this art form has been deeply impactful, transforming the way I approach creativity in my daily life. It has pushed me to become a multi-disciplinary artist; I am no longer just an animator, but also a set builder, a lighting director, a casting caller/ voice director and a cinematographer. This process has taught me immense patience and discipline. When I finally hit "play" and see a figure walk, fly, or execute a complex cinematic fight, I feel a sense of accomplishment that is unparalleled. It is the physical manifestation of hours of hard work, visible in just a few seconds of smooth, fluid footage. Beyond the personal satisfaction, stop-motion has opened doors to a global community. My passion led me to start my own YouTube channel and to try voice acting myself, providing a platform to share my progress. To deepen my craft, I turn to a blend of inspiration and community support. I frequently analyze the "making of" features from master animators like Dangitproductions and Wartv14 to learn their specific solutions and different techniques. Furthermore, the Animators Assembled Instagram and Discord communities have become vital resources. Sharing rigging hacks, lighting setups, and behind-the-scenes tips with other independent animators has turned what could be a lonely hobby into a collaborative journey. This blend of inspiration and shared knowledge has not only improved my technical skills but has also led to lasting friendships, proving that this art form is as much about the people as it is about the figures/puppets
