Hi! I am a junior/senior at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs majoring in Exercise Science. My friends and family would say I am strong, funny, driven, and passionate. My goal through school is to become a physical therapist so that I can help people and help them to live life. I love helping others and working in the community.
I am a good candidate because I have worked hard for the place I am now. I worked hard in high school to get ahead and graduate with a diploma and an associate's degree. I am growing more to appreciate the money that I saved by doing that in high school, but I still have more school to go through so that I can finally start helping people the way I have dreamt of helping them.
People tell you the transition from high school to college can be difficult, but they refer to the workload. I built up my experience with the college workload in high school, but what has been most difficult for me is the switch from being a kid to being an adult. I am learning how to get out there and be myself and find the people who will (hopefully) be there with me along the way.
Thank you for the opportunity and for helping me to become a physical therapist!

I am inspired to get involved in my community because I like to help people. Ever since I was a freshman in high school, I have wanted to help people. I decided that year that I wanted to be a physical therapist so that I can help people improve their lives and make them feel better. I love being able to see how being active in my community and helping the people in it can change someone's life. Even the smallest things like being kind to someone, holding the door for them, or having a conversation with them make me feel like I am involved in my community. Some of the communities I am involved in include my school, church, and my friends and family. At my school, I am in a variety of different classes where I get to interact with lots of people. Anytime I meet someone new, I take every opportunity to be kind and get involved with the person. One of the communities I am most involved in is at my church. I am a small group leader for middle school students and it is an amazing thing to see how the students that I work with grow in their relationships with one another and their relationships with God. I have known my students since they were in fourth grade and it is inspiring to watch them grow as people. I know that I am making a difference in their lives and it is exciting to see the influence my involvement has with them. Another important community is my friends and family. One of the best ways I feel involved in my community is with friends and family. My friends and family make it fun to be involved and help me to be more involved. There have been some fun events that I have done with my family and friends that helped us to be involoved with our community. We have done events like Operation Christmas Child where you pack boxes with different items like toys, soccer balls, and bibles to send to countries that do not have those kinds of things. Another event is imPACKED weekend where you make bags of food and pack them into boxes to also send to countries that are need of food. These might be small changes that I have done in my communities, but to me these things are important and make me feel like I have made a difference in my community.
Your Dream Music Scholarship
"All my life I've been carried by grace, Don't ask me how 'cause I can't explain". These are the first two lines of my favorite song and the song that has the most important message to me. My faith and religion are two of the most important things to me. This song is called "Million Little Miracles" by Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music. It is all about the miracles that can be experienced every day that people should be thankful for.
It is important to me because I am not thankful enough for all that God has given me and I do not recognize all the miracles that are around me. Every time that I play this song, it makes me realize how all that I have and have been given is a miracle from God. The message in this song helps me to be more thankful to God for all that He has done for me in my life.
Some examples of miracles that God has given me include my amazingly supportive family, my boyfriend, best friends, and having the chance to go to school. Another part of this song says, "Count your miracles, One, Two, Three, Four, I can't even count 'em all" and I truly cannot count them because there are so many around me. This is why "Million Little Miracles" has the most important message to me. Thank you for this opportunity!

Make a school calendar/schedule. In a google doc, I put all 7 days of the week in one row, and I put the dates like September 26-October 2. I also label each row with the week of the school year so that I know how many more weeks of school there are, so September 26-October 2 is Week 6. As soon as I have access to the syllabuses for my classes, I put all of my assignments/quizzes/exams/whatever my professors have assigned into the google doc. I prefer to do this because then as days pass you can cross of days and classes and assignments that I have done. This is the one thing that truly helps me stay organized throughout the entire school year and helps me to feel like I have accomplished something for school each day. I also like this more than a paper calendar or planner because I can pull it up on my phone and I am able to color-code all of my classes and assignments. My Instagram handle is @_jaime.kent_
