My life goals are to help make a difference in my community. I want to be one of those people that help clean up the world and rid the world of all the injustices and criminals one by one. I also would like to help get young kids off the streets and into school. Show them that’s not the only way they can get out of being in poverty. I know how it feels when your family is living from check to check. Take it from someone that comes from a single parent household like mine. I had to grow up at very young age and get a job to help support my family. Being in school gave me that motivation to keep pushing myself to graduate, to make something out of myself that would help get my family out of our financial troubles. Even though I had to work I still tried to volunteer. I became a mentor for a nonprofit organization called Elevate Orlando that was apart of my high school. We taught at elementary schools and we took trips to other states during spring break. One of our trips we took was to Savannah Georgia after hurricane Irma had hit them pretty badly. We helped clean up places that were damaged by trees collapsing on their properties. We went to a dog rescue kennel first, then Battlefield Memorial Park, and last helped out at a food bank. Elevate Orlando helped me learn that it doesn’t matter how much money you have or what background you come from you can make a difference in someone’s life no matter how small it is. I feel like my degree in forensic science/criminology will be one way I will help give back to my community. By clean up the streets of criminals.
