I am a first-generation private pilot who aspires to pursue a professional career in aviation. I recently earned my instrument rating as well. I am a Florida Institute of Technology alumna with a B.S. in Aeronautical Science and an A.A. in Air Traffic Control, with a minor in Aviation Environmental Science. Most of my flight training thus far has taken place at Florida Tech Aviation, but since graduating in December, I am now training out of Rocket Air Flight Academy (formerly known as Melbourne Flight Training). I am currently saving and preparing to begin my training towards my commercial single-engine license.

Kyle Rairdan Memorial Aviation Scholarship
As a kid, a very common icebreaker we were asked was, "If you could have any superpower, what would you pick?" At 5 years old, my peers and I all agreed; we wanted to fly. At 10 years old, some of us still wanted to fly, while others wished for invisibility, super speed, or teleportation. As we all grew older, we matured past the light-hearted ice breaker, but if you asked me the same question anytime between then and now, my answer would remain the same. Nonetheless, it took me until late in my high school years to decide what career I wanted to pursue. On a long car ride with my parents, they asked me for the hundredth time what I was going to do with my life. They threw out idea after idea until I grew frustrated, all the while still without an answer. Trying to collect myself, I looked out the window only to see an airplane. To shed light on a tense moment, I teased my parents by telling them I would become a pilot. They chuckled nervously and shrugged it off; so did I. Only later that day, I began researching what it actually takes to become a pilot. After finding several aviation websites, videos, and flight schools, I landed on Florida Tech (pun not intended).
Fast-forward 3.5 years, and I am now a graduated instrument-rated private pilot with a B.S. in Aeronautical Science, an A.A. in Air Traffic Control, and a minor in Aviation Environmental Science. I earned my private pilot's license at Florida Tech Aviation on July 12, 2023. I recently completed my instrument rating on May 10, 2026, at Melbourne Flight Training. During my time at Florida Tech, I involved myself in several aviation clubs and organizations. From freshman year all the way to my senior year, I held one, if not multiple, leadership positions in clubs such as Latino Professionals in Aerospace (president and collegiate chapter founder), Alpha Eta Rho (president and social media chair), and Women in Aviation International (vice president and social media chair). Like many of my peers at Florida Tech who were not originally from Florida, I became part of tight-knit communities of like-minded people through these clubs. My passion and dedication to these clubs never wavered, and I was given opportunities I otherwise would have missed, such as attending 6 conferences and countless volunteer events on and off campus. Another notable organization that I am proud to be a part of is PreFlight Aviation Camp, where I volunteer as a camp counselor and mentor. Through this summer camp, I have created meaningful memories with bright young ladies who dream of careers in aviation, culminating in free discovery flights.
In the future, I plan to put my education to good use by becoming a flight instructor and airline pilot. I am motivated to make my family proud and prove to myself that I am capable of achieving everything I dedicate myself to. Receiving this scholarship would help ease the financial barriers that make flight training so difficult to sustain. It would allow me to continue my commercial single-engine training with less stress and more focus, and bring me closer to achieving my aviation goals. More than that, it would represent an investment in someone who is fully committed to this path and to making the most of every opportunity given to her.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
