Hulede Collegiate Golf Scholarship
1. I participate in track, NHS, and musical theater on the side of my golf career, currently. I have done track for many years and have not only been on the best in my district, but I also competed in the 2018 USATF junior Olympics in the 200M, Long jump and hurdles. Furthermore, I am an active member in the National Honor Society and have been through my membership without a hitch over the course of two years. Finally, although fairly new, I am an actor in my high school's musical theater and have my first production coming out at the end of April.
2. I am interested in studying mechanical engineering in college. I am interested in such a field because of my love of science and design. Being able to construct and configure projects from buildings to robots has always interested me and is now a passion that I want to pursue at the next level. More specifically, I want to design and construct buildings. Although that normally falls under civil engineer, I want to dive more into the science aspect of these buildings. The type of mechanical engineer I aspire to be will allow me to not only design these buildings but understand the complexities of what they can and cannot be made out of. I will also understand the differences between these different materials and why certain structures can or cannot have them because of internal and external factors based on the material and the area I will be building in.
3. I plan to give back to my community in many ways. The first way is with contributions to the tours I've played in. TJGT and ST PGA have helped me so much in my golf journey that I don't know how I would have made it to where I am without them. Giving back will hopefully allow more kids, who can't always afford to play, compete in the showcases that I was able to. Secondly, I want to give back to the invitationals like the UGA and Mac Champ as to further the prestige and level that those tournaments offer and have allowed kids such as myself to thrive in.
4. This scholarship would make a large difference in my college golf life. Growing up, I have poured everything into my tournaments. I have had many late nights and early mornings for the things I have. I started golf at four but didn't get serous about it until I was thirteen, which put me a bit behind the ball when compared to some of my peers. Because of that I have worked harder than many thought I need to, and with that hard work I achieved an academic scholarship to the prestigious Morehouse College. I have worked through pain, sadness, disappointment, fear, and when the entire world seemed to be against me. I have overcome and handled areas in my life that I never foresaw or could prepare for. From my dad not supporting me the way I needed him to, which led to legal actions having to take place, to waking up and not being able to write or walk because I was pushing myself that hard. I have continuously pushed past my breaking point to be great, and I won't stop until I am at the highest level of the sport I love. Having this scholarship will allow me to be a bit more comfortable in my new world but also allow me the resources to access and obtain the various necessities that come with golf and college by itself. It will be a part of the catalyst that will allow me to keep pushing and keep using everything I've got to getting to number one in the world.
