Hi!
My name is Jaeden Ball. I am a tradesman from rural Washington, who recently moved to Southern Wyoming. I am currently enrolled in Laramie County community college for the welding program. Here's some info about me!
Since I was little I have been infatuated with the idea of building things. houses, cars, sky scrapers, you name it, I wanted to build it. Because of this, my love for 3D Printing and Designing blossomed from a young age. My family bought me a small 3D printer and computer to start learning these things. over time, my love for manufacturing grew to an obsession. I bought a cnc router table, laser engraver, an army of 3D printers, etc. then, one day after my second year of high school, I discovered an old miller 200d in my shop classroom. I dragged it out and got to work. Since that day, I've been hooked on welding.

Hello! My name is Jaeden Ball.
For as long as i can remember I've been interested in trades. Specifically the manufacturing side of the world. As a child, I had multiple hobbies. 3d printing and modeling, computer programming, CNC, and many other things children generally weren't interested in. i spent my afternoons messing about with computers and machines my dad and i built, tinkering away. this is what started my love for welding. being able to make things, by myself, with my own hands is more rewarding than anything I have ever been able to accomplish.
My career goals consist of making a solid living as a welder, spending 10 or 15 years on the pipeline and maybe some structural welding as well. After buying a house and settling down, my end goal is to be able to open a metal fabrication shop. Ultimately, i would like to have my girlfriend along side me, every step of the way. She too, has taken an interest to welding.
In this Fabrication shop, I would like to specialize in off road equipment / machines, as well as World Rally Championship cars. This is what i have found interesting my entire life. building roll cages, custom four link suspension kits for offroad vehicles, custom engine swap mounting brackets, race car parts, and much much more. I would like to advertise my shop by building the coolest offroad rigs anyone has ever seen, and parading them around town, and at big events, for the world to see.
moving on to a more serios topic, my financial needs. I am asking for this loan to help me fund my second semester of welding school. My first semester i paid pout of pocket, and it demolished my savings account. I am asking for help, so i do not need to put myself into debt to achieve my dreams.
Thank you very much for your time, and i hope you consider me for the Grover Scholarship Fund.

WinnerGrowing up, my father owned a family resort, and with that came a constant flow of projects that needed attention. Because we couldn’t always afford to hire professionals, I quickly learned to become a tradesman of all kinds. One week I might be handling plumbing issues, and the next I would be learning electrical work, hanging drywall, framing walls, welding repairs, and tackling countless other tasks that kept the place running. Working in a small family business meant that everyone pitched in where they were needed, and more often than not, that responsibility fell on me. What started as necessity soon became a source of pride, skill, and eventually passion.
Out of all the trades I learned, welding is the one that truly captured my interest. I fell in love with it after spending weekends working alongside my dad on small projects around the property. Together we built practical items like coat racks, fences, and handrails for stairways. Sometimes the work was more urgent, such as repairing the steel structure of a shop that collapsed under heavy snowfall one winter. Equipment was always breaking, bending, or wearing down, and welding became one of the most essential skills we relied on to keep operations running smoothly. Many weekends and even evenings after school or work were spent cutting, welding, shaping metal, and experimenting with new techniques. Those moments with my dad not only taught me technical skills but also gave me a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, responsibility, and hard work.
I believe the Union Ironworkers would benefit from my dedication and work ethic. Since a very young age, I have understood the value of labor, consistency, and getting the job done right the first time. These qualities are becoming increasingly rare, especially among people my age, as fewer young individuals pursue careers in the trades. Yet the work Ironworkers do is essential to our country. The skylines that make American cities so beautiful, the bridges that connect our communities, and the structures that support daily life all rely on skilled, motivated craftsmen.
I want to contribute to that legacy. I want to grow alongside a brotherhood that values skill, strength, and precision. With my background, passion for welding, and lifelong commitment to hands-on work, I believe I would be a strong and valuable addition to the Union Ironworkers.
Unlike pipeline welders, iron workers always have jobs. That is a big thing to me. I need to be able to rely on my job to support me financially.
All in all, I believe the ironworkers union can help me achieve this dream, and support me when i need it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my application.
