Education is important to me because it represents opportunity, empowerment, and the ability to create change in my own life and in the lives of others. Growing up, I was taught that education is something no one can take away from you, and I have carried that belief with me throughout my academic journey. As the daughter of a single mother who worked tirelessly to provide for my family while continuing her own education, I have seen firsthand how knowledge can open doors and create possibilities that once seemed out of reach. My educational journey has not always been easy, but it has been meaningful. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) student, I challenged myself with rigorous coursework, even in environments where I was often the only Black student in my advanced classes. While this experience created moments of self-doubt and pressure, it also strengthened my resilience, confidence, and determination to succeed. I learned that education is not only about grades, but about growth, perseverance, and the courage to take up space in rooms where you may not always feel represented. Education has also given me direction and purpose. Through courses like Health Science and completing my Certified Medical Assistant program with a 92%, I discovered my passion for helping others through healthcare. These experiences showed me that education allows me to turn my goals into reality. I now plan to pursue a degree in Nursing with minors in Psychology and Spanish, with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner focused on mental health. Education is the foundation that will allow me to build a career centered on compassion, service, and making a meaningful difference in my community. Beyond personal success, education has shaped how I view my role in the world. It has taught me the importance of giving back and using my knowledge to uplift others. Through tutoring Spanish-speaking students and foster youth, I have seen how access to education can change someone’s confidence and future. These experiences reinforced my belief that education should be used as a tool to empower others, especially those who may not always have access to the same opportunities. The legacy I hope to leave is one rooted in service, leadership, and representation. I want to be known as someone who not only achieved her goals, but also helped others reach theirs. As a future healthcare professional, I plan to use my education to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while advocating for mental health awareness, especially in underserved communities. I want to create spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported, both physically and emotionally. Additionally, I hope to inspire others, especially young women of color, to pursue their goals without fear. By stepping into spaces where I may be underrepresented, I aim to leave a legacy of perseverance and confidence. I want others to see that success is possible, regardless of the obstacles they may face. Ultimately, education is important to me because it gives me the power to grow, lead, and make a difference. The legacy I hope to leave is not just about my achievements, but about the impact I have on others. Through education, I am building a future that allows me to uplift my community, advocate for change, and inspire those who come after me to do the same.
