The Three Primos By Jade Pelayo This is all a true story Not just some memos About ten years ago There once were three primos The mischievous party of three Pablo, David, and Jade The three musketeers or so was their fame They were looking all around at the lunch they had made How did this start? They had to recall For when Abuela came home They'd have to spill all At first they were hungry Three tummies singing song There was bread in the kitchen For sandwiches they long The pitter of feet The patter of hand The primos had a quest It was quite grand They had their bread But sandwiches have filling What else is in the kitchen What would be hunger killing? They needed ingredients The gang split up They looked all around And found more than just a cup The eldest was Pablo He found maple syrup He led the team Acting a bishop The middle was David He found brown sugar Although he was proud He wished it was a burger The youngest was Jade She found some mustard The yellow bottle caught her sweet tooth She thought it was custard Tummies no longer sung rhymes They had a deep grumble They made their lunch quick Kiddos caught in a jumble They looked back at their creations Something so unique It was mighty strange But it was not GOOD food they seek So the sandwiches didn't last They were eaten in a hurry But now with belly's full It did not stop the fury Maybe they had met their match There was doom in their wake Because they were then attacked By a huge tummy ache! All they could do was go lay in bed Abuela, Abuela! They cried Ayuda me! Like it was magic They heard the front door It had to be Abuela She was back from the store She made her way to the room For she had a mission To check on the primos It was in her definition There on the bed All tucked in She saw her babies Half in the coffin She knew what had ailed them Their nutrition was at stake The kiddos must be hungry For there was lunch to make In just a jiffy Abuela came back smiling A giant plate of turkey and cheese sandwiches Was what she was styling The three musketeers took one look They loved their abuela so much But they didn't want to look at food Much less could they touch A collective groan It bounced off the walls Now that Abuela was home They would have to spill all And that was a true story Not just some memos About these kids and their grand quest The three primos
Tim Gjoraas Science and Education Scholarship
Science, sparking my curiosity and potential, has always been in the back of my mind. From a young age, I found myself fascinated by the mysteries of the natural world and the wonders of every microscopic thing around us. This passion has propelled my devotion towards my academics. It is the motivation behind my pursuit of the Tim Gjoraas Scholarship and a science-based bachelor’s degree. Growing up, I was a relentless reader, always eager to discover things beyond my knowledge. One fateful day, I stumbled upon a book about the wonders of the world. It spoke of how each swirl behind sunflower seeds is an endless formula, how there is darkness beyond our reach within oceans, and what happens inside the body in just one breath. The realization that science had the power to unveil the secrets of the universe fueled my determination to pursue a career in STEM! As I progressed, I discovered the life sciences. The intricate web of biology, the ironically large world of cells, and the mechanisms that sustain life got my undivided attention. I embarked on a mission to understand the intricate workings of the human body. This fervor led me to investigate the medical field, where I would have the chance to contribute to mankind’s understanding of the miracles of human life. These experiences have allowed me to learn about the transformative power of science to solve complex biological puzzles. My passion for science isn't limited to the academic realm. I firmly believe that science is a place for change and progress. It has the potential to address global issues, from climate change to healthcare issues. It's this conviction that has driven me to participate in job shadows, expanding my knowledge at the Hangar Prosthetic Clinic. My involvement in this clinic has demonstrated that science is not just a subject of study; it is a tool for empowerment and societal change. The way these patients would light up at the sight of not a burden, but a personalized tool. To transform their potential despite the hardships. Furthermore, the ever-bright outlook of scientific research constantly fuels my passion. I am inspired by the groundbreaking discoveries in areas like stem cells, organic chemistry, and the bonds between thousands of atoms. These advancements underline the limitless potential of science to shape our future. I am dedicated to being a part of this exciting journey, contributing to my skillset. As I look forward to my academic future, I recognize the great value of a scholarship in science. It will allow me to fully take advantage of my studies, pursue research opportunities, and engage in cutting-edge projects. This support will not only enable me to further my scientific aspirations but also contribute to the advancement of human knowledge. In conclusion, my passion for science is vast. I want to explore the unknown, push the boundaries of my knowledge and harness the power of scientific knowledge for the betterment of those in need. I am driven by curiosity, a desire to make meaningful contributions, and the belief that science is the key to unlocking a brighter future for myself. With this scholarship, I hope to continue my journey of scientific discovery and make a lasting impact on healthcare through my passion for science.
