“Don’t get old,” my grandpa always says. Growing up I never fully understood why my grandparents had so many medications. My younger self thought that the numerous medications were due to aging and that is what would lie ahead in my future. Later in life, I came to understand that High Blood pressure and High Cholesterol runs in my family and was the reason my grandparents had many medications dedicated to those ailments. I wondered if this too would be my fate when I become their age, which sparked my initial curiosity when it comes to health and nutrition. After graduating from UIC with a bachelor’s in communication, there were not many options for recent graduates when it came to job searching due to the pandemic. Health became even more of an important discussion during this time and people with pre-existing conditions were at an elevated risk of mortality. Like many others, I gained a significant amount of weight due to the lack of exercise and poor nutrition, resulting in not feeling comfortable in my own skin. It took me until May of 2022 to realize that I needed to take my health into my own hands. Since May of 2022 I lost sixty pounds and started my active wear brand, Unrecognizable Fit. I started the brand while on my own journey to help inspire others to love themselves at every stage of their life. I love to post motivational videos of my workouts, transformation, and answer any questions to the best of my ability. Even though I went on a journey of health and fitness, I did not have all the answers and wanted to provide more value to my community. This is why I recently enrolled in NASM’s (National Association of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Training and Nutritional Coaching Program. I have realized my passion in life is to help educate people on Fitness and Nutrition. These two hand in hand play a pivotal role in preventing disease and allowing people to live a more fruitful life. Knowledge on how to prevent and treat diseases through food is so important. I want to help spread this knowledge to people in need and help them visualize a different future when it comes to aging. A future where they do not need countless pill bottles to get by every day. A future where they can live fulfilling lives disease free. In the near future and with my entrepreneurial background, my goal is to have my own private practice as a Registered Dietitian. I am excited to be one step closer to this reality and acquiring extensive knowledge in the world of Nutrition and Dietetics. I am confident that by pursuing a Master of Science in Nutrition (DPD), I will become fully equipped as a Registered Dietician to help influence the health of our nation.

“Don’t get old,” my grandpa always says. Growing up I never fully understood why my grandparents had so many medications. My younger self thought that the numerous medications were due to aging and that is what would lie ahead in my future. Later in life, I came to understand that High Blood pressure and High Cholesterol runs in my family and the reason my grandparents had many medications dedicated to those ailments. I wondered if this too would be my fate when I became their age, which sparked my initial curiosity when it comes to health and nutrition. After graduating from UIC with a bachelor’s in communication, there were not many options for recent graduates when it came to job searching due to the pandemic. Health became even more of an important discussion during this time and people with pre-existing conditions were at an elevated risk of mortality. This is where the thought of nutrition preventing preexisting conditions occurred to me. There must be a better way than to wait for a diagnosis, the way is prevention. In May of 2022, I made a conscious decision to prioritize my health due to being overweight and feeling unwell, compounded by a family history of high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I began by focusing on weight loss and adopting a whole foods diet. Since then, I have shed sixty pounds and have never felt better. Alongside my weight loss journey, I launched an activewear brand called Unrecognizable Fit. Its aim is to empower women to embrace themselves at every stage of their health and fitness journey. My passion for nutrition stems from experiencing firsthand the transformative effects it has had on my well-being, and I am driven to share this joy and knowledge with others. Helping people lead healthier lives through mindful food choices brings me immense fulfillment and joy. I also believe in spreading awareness that one can improve one’s health significantly simply by being mindful of what they eat, emphasizing the importance of connecting with one's food. This journey brings me one step closer to helping heal our nation through food. My primary objective is to publicize information as effectively as possible. Leveraging technology and social media makes this goal achievable. I plan to offer free advice through video content along with links to relevant studies. In underserved communities, I aim to collaborate with local leadership to offer free nutritional education and facilitate access to affordable healthy food options. This may involve initiatives such as proposing farmers markets and organizing healthy food drives within these communities. During my education, I will utilize my network to garner support and bring this idea to fruition. I aspire to begin my career as a Dietetic consultant in a healthcare facility, gaining valuable experience before transitioning to my own private practice over time. This approach will enable me to cultivate strong relationships with clients and offer them personalized health plans. Starting in a healthcare setting will provide me with invaluable field experience and the opportunity to network with experienced Registered Dietitians who can offer additional expertise. These connections and experiences will undoubtedly benefit my future private practice significantly and provide more resources to my community. I am excited to be one step closer to this reality and acquiring extensive knowledge in the world of Nutrition and Dietetics. I am confident that by pursuing a Master of Science in Nutrition (DPD), I will become fully equipped as a Registered Dietician to help influence the health of our nation.

I have never been a big anime watcher. I never fully gave it a chance until one day my friend turned on Attack in Titan. Usually I wouldn't pay attention to something like this but for some reason Attack on Titan caught my attention. Ever since then I was hooked on the storyline and Eren's journey throughout it. The storyline for Attack on Titan was so well thought out, especially with all of the foreshadowing involved in the series. Every week we would watch a few episodes and it left us on the edge of our seats every time. We never knew what what going to happen and it always left us guessing. My favorite part was watching how the characters interacted with their environments differently even though they all were going through the similar things. That being the man eater titans roaming on their island. Some characters were shy, very solemn, angry, or revengeful. When we thought the storyline couldn't get anymore bleak, it was revealed that they had human enemies from a land called Marley. Erin and his friends were part of the Scout regime that went to Marley to spy. Throughout the seasons the show kept getting more sad and hopeless. Lot of good characters died or were severely hurt. The emotional impact was super strong due to the character developments. Each main character had very interesting character developments which made you fall in love and understand their thought process even more. At the end of the series we were so shocked. We were hoping for some type of redemption. We were rooting for Eren the whole time but we were conflicted because he seemed to go off the deep end in order to protect his friends. We were very conflicted and I even shed a tear on the last episode. This show left a deep memory for me and nothing can compare to how good this show was. I mourned for two weeks after finishing Attack on Titan and yet to have found another anime that can top this series. Overall, what I learned from Attack on Titan was that everyone can be a villain in someone else's story and the idea of good and bad can get blurry. The power of friendship, family, and love should not be underestimated and is one of the greatest gifts of life. I will never forget how watching Attack on Titan made me reflect on the intricacies of life.

I remember the first time I saw Zendaya. I was 12 years old and watching Disney Channel's new show, 'Shake it Up.' In the show Zendaya played a character named Rocky who loved to dance and landed a backup dancing role with her friend CeCe on a hit dance show called Shake it Up Chicago. Shake it Up inspired me to go after my dreams as the characters did and to be bold while doing so. Zendaya has so many talents but the one that has impressed me the most is her acting career. When Zendaya starred in the show Euphoria, I knew we had an actress for the decades. Everyone I knew around me was obsessed with the show because of her phenomenal acting portraying the character Rue. She won two Emmy's for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama series for Euphoria, which is amazing and shows just how captivated she had the viewers. Zendaya makes you believe and understand what her character is feeling in every role she has portrayed. I am so proud to see her growth, from Disney Channel to an Emmy award winner. Growing up with her and seeing her journey in acting is so inspiring. I know she will keep us captivated for many more years to come.
