Superhero Therapy Therapy is slowly progressing and becoming more normalized allowing people to receiving mental health care without fear of being judge. Although, one thing I’ve noticed is that younger children, say toddlers or children 3-8 years of age find it harder to receive care after traumatic events. This is because the younger we are the more difficult it is for us to communicate our feelings or even understand them. Children who lose parents, struggling through diseases, and etc deserve attention that will effectively help them battle depression, anxiety, and stress. We want/need mental health care for everyone not just adults and teens so the question left is, how do we reach these children ? I want to suggest and start superhero therapy, it’s not a complicated new concept and should be given a chance. Children look up to superheroes and Disney princesses and superhero therapy would connect them to superheroes and role models who have been through similar experiences as them. Through the heroes they would learn how to combat their trauma and create an alter ego. It helps them feel as though they are strong, not alone , and most importantly gives them the courage to communicate their issues. If little child friendly centers maybe including pediatric centers nearby could be found around the world I think it would help heal a lot of children early and prevent them from carrying the trauma throughout their lives
