Coming from a home of a strong single mother, being able to continue my education at UIC was a dream come true. My goal in the college of business with a major in marketing is to work in either sports marketing or marketing advertisement! I work hard and always put my best foot forward in anything I put my mind to. I hope to start a career after graduation and go for my master's to establish a stronger roof over my head.

Volunteering has changed my mindset on how if just one person goes out of their way to make a change so much can be done. I volunteered for Rebels for Peace my junior year in high school and everything I have learned then I still carry with me as a senior in college. How one high school student wanted to make a change for gun violence in the south side of Chicago can bring a community together from different neighborhoods spreading awareness and safe places for those who might be in situations where gun violence is present. I was able to lend a hand to younger children and connect with a community I was always told was dangerous and learn from others how their lives have changed from violence in their neighborhoods. Rebels for Peace stands with children and young adults who might be in a difficult situation through gun violence and lends a hand to help talk about mental struggles and gather more children and young adults by word of mouth to stand together in creating different ways to control anger, control situation that might get out of hand, and how to support one in another when someone might be going through something serious at home that usually does not reflect their personalities.
For the past couple of months, I have gone through financial struggles. Early June of 2023 my dog was hit by a car, leaving me with a loan balance 17,000. I was so glad her life was saved as she has helped me through mental struggles and life obstacles. Aside from that, I suffer from slight back pains that send me to doctor's offices once a year for treatment and medical shoe inserts I must wear every day and have new ones once a year. While I am lucky enough to have health insurance through my mother there is an outstanding bill of 1,000. I have set up payment plans and each payday that comes around I send the amount I need aside for the amount owed from each service. Unfortunately, with my senior year coming around I have an amount due for my tuition, I had the amount set aside and ready for the upcoming fall term but when my dog got in the accident I had to hand over that amount to be set to a different hospital where her surgeries would be performed.
