John Young 'Pursue Your Passion' Scholarship
I was born in Bologna, Italy, in a family that had baseball running through its veins. My mum was a softball player and my dad a softball coach: that is how my parents met. At a very young age, I got introduced to baseball; it soon became my passion and it has never been a problem to put all my dedication and effort into it. Growing up, I fell in love with the game more and more and it was not hard for me to realize that my dream was to play the game at the highest possible level.
Later on, I also realized that I wanted to study at an American college and it became part of my dream. Fortunately, the college environment in the United States allows the pursuit of an academic career while playing baseball at a high level. Being an Italian student and citizen, such a thing is not easy to accomplish and it requires strong commitment and a lot of preparation. That included studying at a high school which would teach me good English while learning math and sciences, as I was pretty clear that I wanted to study something related with sustainability in college. The high school I chose in Italy, Liceo Ginnasio Luigi Galvani, was the perfect fit as it prepared me with teachers who spoke English as their first language and high-level math, physics, and biology courses.
My chance to come to the States gladly came during the summer of 2021, when family friends put me in touch with someone who found a school and a baseball travel team for me. It was August 29th when I went to my hometown airport to catch the flight that would have changed my life forever; having to say goodbye to my family and my girlfriend was hard and while waiting for the plane at the gate I could not hold back a few tears.
My first concern was the language: I could speak English pretty clearly but understanding people who talked much faster than I was used to was not always easy. Secondly, I was worried that studying in English would take much more time. Soon enough, I got used to it and it stopped being an issue.
During that year I had the chance to take SAT test and attending some baseball showcases; I've been noticed and now I'm a sophomore at Beloit College Wi, playing varsity baseball, a dream come true!
I've been inspired mainly by my family, who always taught me to dream big and act big; I'm attacted by stories of self-made-men, who obtained the most even if starting from 0
I'll be majoring in Engineering, then I'm planning to have a master in environmental engineering.
Well, having a positive impact on the climate and trying to contribute in preserving our world is one of my main concern
I hope I can contribute to make this world a better place once I'll be graduated

During that year I had the chance to take SAT test and attending some baseball showcases; I've been noticed and now I'm a freshman at Beloit College Wi, a dream come true!

During that year I had the chance to take SAT test and attending some baseball showcases; I've been noticed and now I'm a freshman at Beloit College Wi, a dream come true!
I'll be majoring in Engineering, then I'm planning to have a master in environmental engineering.
Well, having a positive impact on the climate and trying to contribute in preserving our world is one of my main concern
I hope I can contribute to make this world a better place once I'll be graduated

One of the thing that I do every time is saving energy
I use only led lights, I have a solar battery charger for my cell phone, I keep the heating system in my house as low as I can, i convinced my family to buy an electric car and I have to say that they are very satisfied with it now)
We have solar panel on the roof of our house and I'm the one who insisted with my dad to install them

I knew taking that chance meant leaving my family, friends, and girlfriend in Italy but, as I had been waiting my whole life for such an opportunity, I took it without hesitation. It was August 29th when I went to my hometown airport to catch the flight that would change my life forever; having to say goodbye to my family and my girlfriend for one last time before leaving was hard and while waiting for the plane at the gate I could not hold back a few tears.
Once I landed at JFK airport in New York, I was welcomed by my soon-to-come baseball coach who gave me a ride to my new host family's house. They were very welcoming and the next day I had the chance to see the school where, starting one day later, I would have studied for my whole Junior year.
My first concern was the language: I could speak English pretty clearly but understanding people who talked much faster than I was used to was not always easy. Secondly, I was worried that studying in English would take much more time. Soon enough, I got used to it and it stopped being an issue.
School in America is very different than in Italy but all the teachers here helped me a lot through the process and it has never been a problem.
Lastly, integrating with the new team was not hard at all. After all, we all spoke the same language, baseball, and being used to playing in a semi-professional league in Italy along with grown men made me ready for American baseball.

There is something in everyone's background that sets them apart from the rest, something that makes them unique in their environment. The fact that I just moved here to the United States by myself coming from Italy makes me different from the High School students in Burlington, New Jersey.

I knew taking that chance meant leaving my family, friends, and girlfriend in Italy but, as I had been waiting my whole life for such an opportunity, I took it without hesitation. Well, having a positive impact on the climate and trying to contribute in preserving our world is one of my main concern
I'm going to study Environmental Engineering at the university, because it's the subject that has been inspiring me since I was a little kid
One of the thing that I do every time is saving energy
I use only led lights, I have a solar battery charger for my cell phone, I keep the heating system in my house as low as I can, i convinced my family to buy an electric car and I have to say that they are very satisfied with it now)
We have solar panel on the roof of our house and I'm the one who insisted with my dad to install them
I also try to convince about the importance of a green behaviour all my friends and people that I get in touch with
I hope I can contribute more with my studies once I'll be graduated

What is creative thinking?
Creative thinking refers to using abilities and soft skills to come up with new solutions to problems. Creative thinking skills are techniques used to look at the issue from different and creative angles, using the right tools to assess it and develop a plan.
The focus on creativity and innovation is important because most problems might require approaches that have never been created or tried before. It is a highly valued skill to have individually and one that businesses should always aspire to have among their ranks. After all, the word creativity means a phenomenon where something new is created.
Creative thinking is a skill and, like any other, it needs constant exercise to stay sharp. You need to regularly expose yourself to situations in which a new idea is needed and surround yourself with like-minded people to achieve this goal.
I'm thinking about all the people that found a way to create alternative energy sources, one of the biggest challenge we will have to face in the near future
Solar cells, photovoltaic panels, wave or wind power, bio energy and many more often comes from creative thinking and their use in everyday life can really make a difference

What I find important is the lesson that, expecially in these times, where inflation rate is rising tremendously, you have to take care of your money, not just letting it rest in a bank account, because the value is decreasing fast
I started to look at Wall Street, trying to foresee which stocks where on the rise, based on the news I find on the financial newspapers and on the general news. I also started to look at the Cryptos currencies with more interest, and I'm still trying to figure out this complex world. At this moment of time I'm still not able to judge this new world, but I'm more then determined to become familiar as much as i can
As i said at the beginning, you cannot axpect to just leave your money in the bank or waiting that someone else take care of it. Of course you have to trust people that does it as a job, but staying informed is the best way to avoid major losses and increase your capital

Bold Optimist Scholarship
Everybody has to pass through tough times and what makes a big difference is the way you face them
Staying optimistic helps to build the confidence that, sooner or later, tough times will be over and the sun will shine again
Once I read that life is like a mirror: if you smile it smiles you back
This sentence kind of inspired me and from that moment on I tried to behave in this way
As a matter of fact, I have to say that it really works: if you fell pessimist and think that there's no ending to your misfortune, well chances that your life will head in that direction are high
On the opposite side, trying to find the positive aspects even in bad situations, helps you to face hard times with a different spirit.
Often tough times are determined by the mental status, not by objective facts

Joy of course is a state of mind and it's what we look for every single moment of our life
Joy essentially is doing the things that you love to do and do them with the people you love around you
Joy is discovering new things, improving your knowledge
Joy often is facing new challenges, in order to achieve your dreams
This last one is particulary true to me in these days, since I left my country, my home and my family because I'm chasing my dream, that is to become a student/athlete in an American University , studying what I love and playing my favourite sport, Baseball
Sometimes it's hard, sometimes I have some setbacks, but at the end of the day my decision to move to the United States brings me a lot of joy
We have just one life and we should be strong enough to leave all the bad things behind and concentrate only on the ones that bring us happiness and joy

My favorite book is Moneyball
I'm a student/athlete and play baseball since I was a little kid
Saw the movie and decided to buy the book. Loved the way it describes the feeling and the pressure that a baseball player has to go through
It really helpede me to put the things in perspective and to see that the professional athletes' world is not only fame and money, but you have to be mentally really strong to face all the competition and the adversities you have to face
Even if I'm not a professional athlete, I'm facing similar situation every single day on a lower scale
Another thing that made me love this book is the sabermetric aspect
I like maths a lot and realizing that there are a lot of ways to judge a player simply by mathematical formulas really turned my attention on
I still think that a player has to be evaluated also by parameters that cannot be measured with mathematical formulas, but it is very interesting realizing that there are a lot ov stats that better describe a player
I was only familiar with common averages, like batting average, slugging average or runs batted in for instance, but reading this book I realized that these were the less useful to determine the value of a baseball player
There are more complicated stats that I believe can betetr help a head coach or a general mangare
Anyway, I think that everyone appassionate about baseball world cannot miss this book

Bold Longevity Scholarship
Mens sana in corpore sano
That's what the ancient Latins used to say
It means that your mind is healthy only if your body is healthy
I strongly believe in this sentence, taking care of your body leads to a better life and to a better way of performing
First of all you have to take care of what you eat and what you drink
Junk food only hurts you
I love eating healthy food, vegetables, fruit even if I'm not vegan I try to eat as much fresh food as I can
Same goes with alcohol: I'm still young, but I'm really not interested in drinking it, I only see the negatie impact it has on my body
Of course taking substances is not an option, this goes without saying
i also think that keeping my body in a good shape is very important, that's why I love practicing sports in general
We only live once and we have to take care of our body
Bold Turnaround Story Scholarship
I'm very proud of my perseverance, because it 's the main reason why I'm in th eUnited States at this moment of time
I am an Italian boy and my dream has always been to come to the Us in order to study and to play baseball
It is not easy to come in your country as a baseball player. In Italy it is not so popular and only a few people play
Since I had to fullfill my dream, I kept practicin every single day since I was little
Practicing was not enough, though because there was the language barrier
That's why I decided with my parents to attend a school where all the subjects are studied in italian and enlish language
Thanks to my determination and to my parents, now I'm finally a High School student here in the States and, even if the dream is still far away, I'm definetely closer
Bold Friendship Matters Scholarship
Friendship is very very important in everybosy's life
We are animal and we need a social life to better perform and to be fully satisfied
We need to stay among other people, we need to have friends, so we can share our life with others
Friendship means taking care of the people you want as friends
It's not just calling them whn you need help, but the most important thing is devoting a lt of time to them, being always available when they need you
Time is the most precious thing we have and dedicate it to your friends is the best present you can do
Friendship is avoiding to judge your friends, but helping them in case they are doing the wrong thing
Firendship is not making fun of your friend's weaknesses, but accept them as part of their personality
Friendship is acting with your friens in the same way you would love to be treated.
It's not a one time thing, friendship needs your effort every single day
Bold Self-Care Scholarship
self-care includes everything related to staying physically healthy — including hygiene, nutrition, and seeking medical care when needed. It’s all the steps an individual can take to manage stressors in his life and take care of his own health and well-being.
Of course, if we practice self care, we can let all the things that hurt us behind
By a biological point of view, avoiding junk food, alcohol, drugs helps us to stay in better shape
Latins said "mens sana in corpore sano" that means that if your body is in good shape, it will be the same for your mindset
Hygiene of course is important, too because we can stay away from infections and other problems-related that can affect our body
In case something goes wrong, we have to use medical care to return faster in an optimal siutation
Butwe also have to take care of our mind: we have to do the things we love, talk with the people important to us, reading books if we like it or practicing our favourite sport...
In a few words, we have to do all the things that make us happy tryng to give less importance to the ones we don't like
Bold Growth Mindset Scholarship
People who have a growth mindset tend to achieve more than those with a more fixed mindset, who are convinced that their talent is a natural goft and it doesn't need to be improved or trained
People who have a growth mindset worry less about looking smart and put more energy into learning
I'm very convinced about this and I have to say that I love learning and studying
This doesn't mean that I'm 24/7 on the books: I love to learn by listening to other people and observing them; I don't do this just with people who are supposed to teach me something, like my professors for instance, but I love to do it with everyone
I'm deeply convinced that I can learn from everybody (maybe also how not to behave)
It's not easy to have a growth mindset, sometimes it's tiring, sometimes you are subject to criticism and fall into insecurity, but at the end of the day, I'm quite sure that it's the right way to improve as human beings
Bold Mentor Scholarship
Well, everybody needs a mentor or a model to whom we can inspire
It's not easy to be a mentor, but everyone can be a model in a particular field
I'm lucky enough to be a good athlete in a team sport and one of the thing that I always keep in mind during a practice session or a game is that I don't want to disappoint my teammates.
I am not talking about the outcome of my game, but about the behaviour
I want to be the first one to arrive at the field and the last one to leave. I want to practice with a lot of intensity, I want to be respectful of all the people involved and most of all I want to show that hard work and good ethic is the most important thing, far more then our natural skills
By doing so, I'm sure that I can help my teammates to improve their games and attitude and to reach their goals on the field
Bold Climate Changemakers Scholarship

I have many dreams, like every boy of my age I guess
My first dream is to study and play baseball in the Us
I had this dream since I was a little kid in Italy and worked hard every single day.
Now I'm finally in your country as a HS Junior, still a long shot, but a step closer to reach it
At this point, what I hope is to be able to enroll in an American University studying what I reallly want to do: Environmental Engineer
The Environmental field attracted me since day one I guess, my ultimate goal is to find a way to improve the quality of life in our World, trying to invent something that can help in finding new ways to save the natural resources or to decrease the pollution in the air or in the sea
We have just one world, but, more often then not, it seems like we forget it
i think that the Environmental issue is no longer postponable, we have to act and we have to do it in a hurry. Climat changes, pollution of the air and of the sea, decreasing ampount of natural resources are all things that have to be taken into serious consideration, even if this would mean a setback in our confortable lives
I hope I can make an impact on the world, even if it's small and, in order to do so, I'm more then determined to practice every single day to increase my chances to obtain a scolarship and to study as much as I can once I will hopefully commit

Bold Caring for Seniors Scholarship
The number of elderly who are feeling alone and suffering from many health problems are increased dramatically. As a life expectancy increase, the average lives well beyond the age of retirement To improve their lives is now challenging to them and their families.
I think that the most important thing is that, after retirement, elderly people tend to feel useless to the community
they spent their whole life caring for themselves and for the others and now they feel like they cannot help anybody
If you add the fact that probably they are fighting for the physical illness, it's easily uderstandable that their situation may lead to depression
i would try to involve elderly people in activity that make them feel still useful for the community.
They might be involved in schools, where their experience can inspire kids life, they might be involved in benefit organizations, helping maybe homeless or single moms
They might be involved in many acticvities, where phisical strength is not necessary, but where they can share their life experience wich is their treasure

Bold Great Books Scholarship
Bold Investing Scholarship

New Year, New Opportunity Scholarship
Hallo everyone, my name is Jacopo Tamburini.
I'm an 18 years old Italian Boy who is chasing the American Dream
My dream is to play Baseball and study in an american college, that's why I've been practicing hard since I was a little little kid and I started to study English at 6
Finally I'm here in the Us, as a HS Junior
I keep practicing hard trying to improve and impress some College Coach and in the meantime I try to do my best at school

Bold Perseverance Scholarship
Perseverance is the quality that more likely then not will lead you to reach your goals
I'm Italian and I am a student/athlete
My dream has always been to obtain a sport scolarship in order to attend an University in the United States.
Problem is: my sport is Baseball
Baseball is not played by many people in Italy and trying to compete in the Us is very difficoult for us.
In order to do so, i started to practice every single day at home, on the field and on the books, since I had to become a fluent english speaker
After many years of practice, I was finally able to move to the United States by myseklf, attending a High School (I am a Junior now) and competing every day on and off the field, hoping that some coach will like my effort
it is still a long way, but I made the most difficoult step, leaving my home, my family and my friends
If I will ever succeed, I have to say thank you to my perseverance, that helped me to overcome so many hobstacles
Bold Patience Matters Scholarship
Being Patient is fundamental. You have to work hard to reach your goals, but you have to know that succeeding is not easy.
In order to reach what you are looking for, you need to be very patient. More likely then not, results will arrive in a long term period: if you are looking for shortcuts, because you are running out of patient or want an immediate outcome, chances are high that you will fail.
Talent is very important, but perseverance is the quality that makes the difference: you have to work hard every single day, you have to become slightly better every single day.
It is not the big jump that will lead you to your goals, but it's the step by step state of mind that will help you in every aspect of your life
i try to behave in this way on the field, to become a better athlete and also at school and in everyday's life
College Athlete Advantage Baseball Scholarship
i was a little kid in Italy, where baseball is not that famous.
My mother was a softball player, she also played for the national team and my father is a baseball coach, so it was kind of natural to start playing it.
the fact is that I fell in love from the first moment i wore a glove and swung a bat and this love brought me here in the Us to study hoping to play it at a college level
