When I earned my bachelor’s degree in Game Art & Design, I discovered that interactive technology could do more than entertain—it could educate, preserve stories, and bring people together. That belief stayed with me when I enlisted in the United States Navy as a Mass Communication Specialist. While serving aboard the USS Enterprise, I continued pursuing my passion by teaching fellow sailors the fundamentals of game design during our deployments. Those moments reinforced something that has guided every chapter of my life: learning is meant to be shared, and technology has the power to inspire others when used with purpose. Following my military service, I built my career at the intersection of design, storytelling, and emerging technology. I eventually co-founded an award-winning immersive technology company focused on creating augmented reality experiences for museums, government organizations, and educational institutions. Our work demonstrated that technology could make history more accessible, transform education into an interactive experience, and preserve stories that might otherwise be forgotten. Leading that company taught me that innovation is most meaningful when it serves people rather than simply showcasing the latest technology. Although I had built a successful career, I realized there was still more to learn. That realization inspired me to return to school later in life. I am now preparing to graduate with my first master’s degree in Media Design, where I have focused on human-centered design, emerging media, research, and immersive technologies. Rather than stopping there, I have already committed to pursuing a second master’s degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship because I want to combine creative thinking with the knowledge required to bring meaningful ideas into the world and sustain them. My educational journey does not end there. My long-term goal is to earn a doctorate dedicated to advancing historical preservation through immersive and emerging technologies. I want to help museums, veterans’ organizations, educators, and cultural institutions digitally preserve artifacts, historic sites, and personal stories using technologies such as photogrammetry, 3D visualization, spatial computing, and extended reality. I believe future generations should not simply read about history—they should have opportunities to experience and interact with it in ways that foster empathy, curiosity, and understanding. Throughout every stage of my life, service has remained my guiding principle. Whether serving my country in uniform, mentoring fellow sailors, leading innovative projects, or continuing my education, I have always sought ways to use my skills to benefit others. I believe education is a lifelong commitment, and every opportunity to learn creates new opportunities to serve. Receiving this scholarship would not only help reduce the financial burden of continuing my education, but it would also represent an investment in a lifelong mission. My goal is to bridge history, technology, and education by creating tools that preserve our shared cultural heritage and make it accessible to communities around the world. I hope my work will ensure that the stories of today remain available to inspire tomorrow’s generations.
