Bio

I am an honorable hard worker that is a senior in college. I believe that I deserve some help with school because I work hard for what I have. I have worked at Publix since I was 16 years old and have continuously elevated myself. My mother was struck with breast cancer, and unfortunately my dad is in jail. On top of that my brother is diabetic. I want to take care of them. I wish the world was a better place for everyone. I owned an esports team and I used to play a lot of recreational basketball. Believe it or not I am six foot five inches, but my mom says I am only six foot four and a half inches. I was top two percent of players in League of Legends (a video game) for a while. I have worked hard on creating an understanding of advance machinery and tools as well as basic machinery and tools in an engineering environment. I have experience in C++, C, Javascript, HTML, and many other developmental languages. I have also touched on AI software as well as physical three-dimensional coding programs and Linux. If we all work together to provide a safe environment to grow then our potential as humans is limitless. I want to work with communities to make the world a safer place. I have a couple of years worth of experience in the stock market and hope to one day earn passive income in multiple ecommerce markets. I love my family more than anything and I hope to bring happiness to everyone I touch. I have a passion for learning and teaching people how to be the best they can be in whatever subject. I always want the best for everyone around me.

What's up Heavy Metal lovers! I am an intensely passionate person and throughout my childhood, I had always struggled to find music that I could relate to. I used to listen to the radio with my family all the time, and sometimes it was great: with that being said a lot of the time I didn't fully find my niche. One day I was going to a family dinner with my cousin and he was listening to heavy metal in his headphones and I asked him what he was listening to. He showed me all about Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden and it sparked an interest that led me to find a passion for Heavy Metal. I listened to Heavy Metal throughout my middle school years and some high school years consistently and still listen to Metal music. It allowed me to feel much more comfortable expressing myself because before I was a lot more timid. I was also going through a lot of changes internally and knowing that there were a lot more people that felt different made me comfortable with change. I have learned to listen more and speak less. I have taken an interest in multiple different forms of entrepreneurship civil engineering, and electrical engineering. I have focused solely on computer science because I believe that with this degree I am capable of showing companies that learning new technology as it comes out will not be a problem for me. I believe that I have and will always work extremely hard to be an influential part of the next generation. I want to be able to work with different organizations that work towards saving human lives. My mother is my biggest supporter, she has been there for me in many more ways than I could count. Unfortunately, my father was incarcerated. Although it is an unfortunate situation he is taking the positive out of it. We had to move, a bunch happened that I don't feel comfortable speaking about. The people that lived around us were not the greatest and tended to act in scummy ways stealing, cheating, and lying were prevalent in the neighborhoods that we had lived in once I had begun high school. The world changed a vast amount once I had become a freshman in high school my strong family doesn't ask for much help. I have learned to never back down from what I believe in as well as to take care of my mental and physical health. I have the Bright Future scholarship and depend heavily on it for my future. I have almost lost it a couple of times but I work extremely hard to keep it. I cannot afford the textbooks, I do my best to save as much as I can every semester because I struggle the most with affording the cheap lifestyle I live. Heavy Metal means to live passionately and fully embrace everything that I stand for through whatever outlets make me feel good. Having the ability to be more expressive is one of the best things I have taken from Heavy Metal and it has allowed me to show people there are many different ways to relieve stress. Heavy Metal makes me feel unstoppable. Heavy Metal means that I can take pride in my actions and emotions and share them however I feel comfortable.

I have taken an interest in multiple different forms of entrepreneurship such as stock management, marketing, civil engineering, and electrical engineering. I have focused solely on computer science because I believe that with this degree I am capable of showing companies that learning advanced technology as it comes out will not be a problem for me digitally or physically. I am currently in the process of learning how to code physics for three-dimensional printers. I believe that I will find multiple different career paths that I will enjoy because of the exposure to new material my education has brought me. In the current society we live in it is almost natural to be stressed. Once I am capable of achieving a high-level job I will be attempting to create multiple organizations and give back to those that represent themselves as hard-working and intelligent individuals as well as neglected communities. I hope to empower as much of the world as I can. Shortcuts and techniques in computational algorithms are prevalent in all forms of code and the best way to learn is experience. I believe that the drive that I possess for innovation will allow me to update outdated technology to prevent dangerous scenarios from ever unfolding. I plan on creating plenty of security innovations that I implement for society: to inspire whole communities to strive for greatness while being safe and secure mentally and physically. I see everyone as an equal to myself. If I could change a single thing about this world it would be to unify all people. Everyone is beautiful in their way and everyone deserves love. I will be creating communities online for people to speak freely about their goals and activities by creating a judgment-free website that will be heavily monitored by volunteers as well as future employees. I like to remind others that possessing talent can only get a person so far: experience and practice triumph over talent in any professional practice. I work hard to benefit society while pleasing the people I interact with at the same time by being a knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic, and open-minded individual. The shortcuts that I find throughout algorithms are not far different from the shortcuts that one may stumble upon while working for their community. I want to prove to people that I will use the patience that I have created for myself by dedicating myself to my craft will translate directly to how hard I work in our communities.

Throughout my life, I have chosen to take a path of positivity. With that being said I do suffer from self-diagnosed mild depression. I have had many experiences that were intense and incomprehensible for me while I was younger that I have stuck with me permanently. Some people do have a lot of love in their hearts but, sadly, I have learned that there are people that will use and cheat to get where they want to be. I have been capable of listening and talking to people about their struggles or misfortunes. Life is not easy and I have been advocating that to every single person that I have met in my entire life. I always just wanted to be friends with everyone and it never really worked out. It seemed as though just because I was taller I was seen as a threat to many. I wore clothes that I thought would make me fit in but it only really caused more anguish in some of my other classmates. They always would find a way to say something to try to get under my skin. I believe that the social norms created in schools today are extremely toxic and disgusting. People should be empowering each other. Near the beginning of my high school experience, my father got incarcerated, but I never really let it define me, instead, I told people and let their actions dictate whether I associated with them or not. I feel like a lot of the things that had pushed me away from people only made me want to find more people that thought just like me. I do not feel like it is quite uncommon to be mildly depressed because many children are forced to grow up way too soon and I was one of them. I would never change that about myself. Moving forwards I have saved a couple of lives by calling the police in an instance of substance overdose and a seizure. Unfortunately one of my friends ended up having an epileptic attack and I caught her as well as put her in a seizure position while telling people to call the police at a party. In college, I have been extremely passionate about every person's safety whether it be mental or physical. I have advocated for people to not ever attempt any hard drugs. I never discredited anyone's opinions for their actions, however; I oftentimes would see myself acting like a parent rather than a friend to anyone I knew dealing with addiction. I feel like this comes with trying to always create a community with all of the friends that I have created over the years. Having scary and traumatizing experiences regularly has shaped a lot of my future decision-making. I have made a lot of split-second decisions and for the most part, I feel as though I have made the correct decision almost every time if not every time. From multiple perspectives understanding knowledge is power only makes the struggles worth it. I have shown people that it is alright to not be alright. Everyone needs a little push sometimes and I have always wanted to help others be great. I feel like I am that extra push for some people and there have to be more people around the world that share the same ideologies as myself. Overall I feel as though there are obvious negatives that come with being mildly depressed; with that being said, being upset because the world is not where it should be done does not mean that I cannot change the world.
    Students Impacted by Incarceration Scholarship
In the current society we live in it is almost natural to be stressed out regularly. Parents all the time speak about how they are at work in an attempt to provide for their kids to no end. I have talked to many people ranging from strangers on the street to my family members throughout my development as a person and have recommended many opportunities to people in need. My mother is my biggest supporter, she has been there for me in many more ways than I could count and even more. Unfortunately, my father was incarcerated. The world changed a vast amount once I had become a freshman in high school. In short, I was tasked with the large duties that the man of the house would normally do once I turned seventeen. I have learned to listen more and speak less. I heavily remind people there is an obvious bright side to education. I feel as though a big part of the problems that I had as a child shaped me to be as dedicated to my future as possible. I enjoy reviewing old material, learning new material, and strengthening my skills in technological crafts. I believe that I will find multiple different career paths that I will enjoy because of the exposure to new material my education has brought me. I have learned to never back down from what I believe in as well as to take care of my mental and physical health. He has taught me that there are limitless options as to what I want to do with my life without ever even going to college. He truly is a motivating factor for me. I plan on speaking out against violence and persuading the American people to innovate more safety measures. I plan on using my degree to prove that society has essentially skipped over many safety hazards over expenses. I want to make the world a better place in as many ways as possible and I will use my education to make sure that many people live secure lives. All of the problems that I faced could have torn me down, but what good would that have done for my future? I would've struggled to make myself something, but I would never have allowed that for myself. I turned into a man.

Living sustainably is a core principle that I wholeheartedly embrace in my daily life. I actively make intentional choices that contribute to reducing my carbon footprint and promoting a healthier planet for future generations. I make sure to inform people that the actions that they take promote actions that others take indirectly. If one person were to take extreme efforts to take care of the environment then another person may see that and change to become better. I want to be that person that changes other people's minds. Every individual action counts and collective efforts can make a substantial impact. By making sustainable choices in my daily life, I am contributing to the overall reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by keeping my lights and computer off when I am not using them, conserving natural resources by reusing my tools multiple times before washing, and I make sure to keep the environment the way it was before I got there. I believe that it is our responsibility as global citizens to prioritize sustainability and be mindful of the long-term consequences of our actions. Another area where I prioritize sustainability is transportation. I have not ever owned a car that was not energy efficient. I tend to make sure that all transportation is as efficient as possible because I do not want to harm the environment by putting more fossil fuels in the air. If I have to travel short distances often I will walk, skate, or bike wherever I need to go because there is no need to drive 3 minutes away. I enjoy the time it takes for me to get to my destination anyways due to how beautiful Florida can be. Reducing our carbon footprint is crucial for creating a more resilient and sustainable future. It not only helps combat climate change but also fosters innovation in technological and sociological ways, it also promotes clean energy alternatives, as well as encourage the adoption of more environmentally friendly practices across industries. By leading by example and advocating for sustainable living, we can inspire others to join the movement and create a collective impact that transcends individual actions. In conclusion, I make intentional choices to live sustainably in my daily life by minimizing energy consumption, prioritizing sustainable transportation, adopting a plant-based diet, reducing waste, and embracing sustainable practices. Reducing my carbon footprint is of paramount importance to me as it represents my commitment to safeguarding the planet and ensuring a better future for generations to come. Through individual actions and collective efforts, we have the power to create positive change and build a sustainable world.

Recovery means being able to wake up every day and push without being dragged down physically and mentally by my surroundings. Recovering from a slight alcohol addiction that I created for myself by partying too hard and losing my friends throughout college has been an extremely hard but accomplishable task. Recovering means being able to have a stable mind knowing that everything that I have been through could have gone a million different ways. The people that I have lost whether it be from death to mental changes from a substance will never be back and I have to be mentally sound with that. Recovering means that I do not need to drink when I am feeling an uncomfortable emotion. I have been capable of taking care of the people that give me the chance to and I would never want to go back to not being able to listen to people with the empathy and compassion that I have when I am sober. Recovering has shown me that not only is there more to life than partying and money. I have always wanted to show people that I will be able to take care of them in every way possible but if I do my best then that has to be enough. It is hard to not be able to do everything for everyone but that does not mean that I should drink. Recovery means peace for me and my family that worries about me. Recovery means working hard.

There are myriad reasons why I find immense joy in challenging myself with the math courses I undertake. One significant source of satisfaction stems from the tremendous effort required to succeed. Unlike those naturally gifted in mathematics, I don't possess an inherent talent in the subject. However, I am fully aware that for every problem, there exists a universal solution Recently, I completed Calculus III at Florida Atlantic University, and I can unequivocally declare my profound enjoyment of the course, despite encountering numerous obstacles. The very essence of mathematics appeals to me because it exemplifies that no one can consistently achieve perfection on the initial attempt, particularly without investing the necessary effort to attain the desired grades. Many of my peers possess superior mathematical backgrounds, yet I have repeatedly proven to myself that with additional exertion, I can perform just as well as someone who has encountered the material multiple times before. On top of that, I am willing to devote extra time and energy when my initial response falls short. the beauty of mathematics lies in its difficulty. I find solace in the fact that mathematics is an objective governed by rules and principles. Unlike subjective fields where interpretation can vary, mathematics remains steadfast, providing a sense of certainty and stability. This allows me to channel my focus toward developing a profound understanding of these rules and applying them to conquer diverse challenges. Each new math course I take presents a unique opportunity for growth and self-discovery. The journey is not without its share of setbacks, but I relish the obstacles encountered along the way. The setbacks serve as reminders of the vast potential for improvement and my thought process of never giving up. The skills that I have mastered through my studies carry over into various aspects of life. The rigorous analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail developed in mathematical pursuits have a profound impact on my overall cognitive aptitude. These skills extend far beyond the classroom, enabling me to approach real-world challenges with a methodical and logical mindset. My passion for mathematics thrives on the harsh yet rewarding nature of math as a whole. By confronting and overcoming its challenges, I continue to prove to myself that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. The satisfaction derived from comprehending intricate mathematical concepts reaffirms my unwavering commitment to pursuing the endless possibilities that lie within the realm of mathematics.
Sean Carroll's Mindscape Big Picture Scholarship
My name is Jacob Campbell, I am currently twenty-one years of age and I go to school at Florida Atlantic University, otherwise known as FAU. I believe that family is the most important part of living. I wouldn't want to have grown up any differently and I know my family has my back. I have a brother who is two years younger than me and is diabetic, and we live with our mother. Unfortunately, our father was incarcerated. He has had a great impact on my life nonetheless. My mother however is my greatest role model and has always told me that she would support me no matter what I end up doing. My family life is great despite circumstances looking less than from the outside. My mother is the most hardworking blessing I have ever received. Throughout my time in college, I have worked hard to learn everything that I can. I have taken interest in multiple different forms of entrepreneurship such as stock management, marketing, civil engineering, and electrical engineering. I have taken extra time to take on a mentorship program at the college to help prepare incoming freshmen for their courses. I have worked with Robinhood, in particular, to understand the stock market further for when I am capable of reinvesting. With all of that being said, my major is computer science because I believe that with this degree I am capable of showing companies that learning and transforming technology will be a task that I can take on. I have always wanted to be able to work on projects that assist the population allowing people to work more efficiently. I am currently working in the engineering department of FAU as the job class Lab Assistant. I have worked here for around a year and I have increased my hands-on capabilities tenfold as well as my social skills. Working with high-level printing machines and watching the coding at work has allowed me to learn how to code at a much more efficient level. I want to be able to work with different organizations that work towards saving human lives. The best way for me to do such a thing is by proving my intelligence through taking hard courses and possessing a bachelor's in computer science. I plan to work with communities throughout the United States and if I am lucky, in other continents to teach people how to code as well as to market themselves. If everyone understood that they are the product that they should be selling to companies then more people would be investing in themselves. In the current society we live in it is almost natural for people to be distressed. Once I am capable of achieving a high-level job I will be attempting to create multiple organizations and give back to those that represent themselves as hard-working and intelligent individuals as well as neglected communities. I will also be giving back to my family members for always being there for me throughout the tough times. The hard work that I put out is to help the people that have given to me as well as those who have given to others in times of hardship because life is not easy.
Overcoming the Impact of Alcoholism and Addiction
My father throughout my youth in middle school and highschool was plagued with alcoholism. He did not really own the fact that he had drank to a point that was not healthy. It never really affected the way he acted as a person and in fact some may say that it made him happier. With that being said I do not really define him as struggling because my father is my family and he played a large role in making me the kind of person that I am today. I believe that I respond to life's challenges in a positive mannerism. A person may not choose their parents but they are capable of learning to love a person that wants any individual to succeed. This may be the reason I have worked extremely hard to be the best that I can become because I have seen great times from my father and he has taught me a lot. These great times that I have had with him outweigh the negatives by a substantial amount My parents worked hard during their daily lives to ensure that we were not seeing the dangers of the society around us. The people that lived around us were not the greatest and tended to act in scummy ways stealing, cheating, and lying were prevalent in the neighborhoods that we had lived in once I had begun highschool. The world had changed a vast amount once I had become a freshman in highschool. I had grown up enough to understand that there was something wrong with my parents but not enough to understand that they were staying together to keep my brother and I from being upset. Unfortunately my father was incarcerated. During his time he has learned that many of the actions that he had taken were unhealthy for his mental and physical health. He no longer smokes cigarettes and is incapable of drinking. When he was on bail for the second time he had no motivation to use because he felt that he was taking away years from his life through his lifestyle choices. Although it is an unfortunate situation he is taking the positive out of it without attempting to run away from his problems. My father is one of my heroes to this very day. I have learned to never back down from what I believe in as well as to take care of my mental and physical health. He has taught me that there are limitless options as to what I want to do with my life without ever even going to college himself. He truly is a motivating factor for me. I believe that if I had not allowed myself to see my father as a person rather than my father it may be easy to forget the memories of happiness that he has brought me. With that being said I believe that it is not about the battle rather it is about what can be done afterwards. If anyone is struggling with moving forwards the best option is to try to find another way to move past the obstacle at hand. Having the strength to look forwards will always lead towards achievements and happiness. Therefore I agree that positive responses to challenges will allow for any person to persevere through trials and tribulations.
A Dog Changed My Life Scholarship
In short, I had not believed that I had ever been cared about enough. I do enjoy the thought of having an extremely caring family, but I never knew that I needed more. Previous to owning my dog, I did not consider him family. Upon being surprised with a new family dog, [for me] I felt my heart fill with love. I did not really understand the feeling at the time seeing as I was only seven years old, but it truly was a remarkable feeling. Although he did not know it yet, I had already formed a bond with my dog Riley. He was a rescue and had a lot of problems with trusting humans but with our family he fit right in being that he was just as lazy as the rest of us. He brought joy to my life by always being happy. He is one of the reasons that I am able to be positive every day because he shows me that it is very possible. Even as a child I had cried at the thought of ever seeing him hurt or in trouble. He was invited to the family dinner table every night and was a large piece of our family. Some days I swear he is capable of understanding what I am saying to him. I know that he understands the tone of voice that I speak in means different things, however; I do believe that he actually understands the words that I am saying. He provides empathy to me when I am upset and knows when I am upset much before I even do. Riley is a better best friend than any person could ever be to me. On my greatest days he lifts me up even higher than I had ever thought possible. He may struggle to get around today but he always knows how to pick himself up whenever he is not feeling the strongest. He is a fighter, he is a lover, and he is one of the best things that will have ever happened to me.
