    Team USA Fan Scholarship
Noah Lyles is my favorite athlete to cheer for on Team USA because of the energy, personality, and innovation he brings to the sport of track and field. While many Olympic athletes inspire admiration through their dominance and dedication, Lyles stands out because he’s doing more than just winning races—he’s redefining how the sport is seen by the public. Through his charisma, social media presence, and unapologetic self-expression, Lyles has revolutionized the way people engage with track and field, making it more exciting, more visible, and more connected to youth culture. One of the reasons I love cheering for Noah Lyles is that he understands being an elite athlete today involves more than just performance. It’s also about storytelling and connection. He brings flair to the track with colorful outfits, dramatic celebrations, and an infectious confidence that commands attention. After winning, he doesn’t simply walk off the track. He celebrates like a showman, engaging with fans and media in ways that make his victories feel like moments, not just results. He creates viral highlights that extend far beyond the track itself, introducing casual viewers to a sport they might have otherwise overlooked. However, Lyles undoubtedly backs up his personality with real talent. He’s a world champion and Olympic medalist, dominating the 200-meter event with blistering speed and near-flawless form. Watching him race is thrilling. His final straightaway surge feels like a burst of pure electricity. He makes sprinting look not only powerful, but also artistic. Every time he steps onto the track, there’s a sense of anticipation that something extraordinary is about to happen. What makes Lyles particularly inspiring to me is his willingness to be open about his mental health journey. In a world where many athletes feel pressured to appear invincible, Lyles has been refreshingly honest about his struggles with anxiety and depression. That honesty shows strength, not weakness. It proves that greatness isn’t about being perfect. It’s about perseverance, vulnerability, and resilience. His openness helps break down stigmas and encourages other athletes and young people to prioritize their mental well-being. In addition, Lyles has taken bold steps to advocate for athletes’ rights and improve the business side of the sport. He’s spoken out about how track and field can modernize its presentation, grow its audience, and better support its stars. Rather than simply following tradition, he’s helping carve a new path—one where athletes have more control over their brand and where the sport is treated with the same entertainment value as major professional leagues. Ultimately, Noah Lyles is my favorite Team USA athlete because he represents more than just athletic excellence—he embodies the future of track and field. His electrifying presence, authenticity, and relentless drive to uplift the sport make him a true game-changer. Lyles isn’t just winning races; he’s creating moments that captivate audiences and spark conversations. He’s building a legacy that extends beyond medals and records, one that inspires a new generation to care about track and field in a way they never have before. Cheering for Noah Lyles means cheering for progress, passion, and the power of sport to connect us all.
STLF Memorial Pay It Forward Scholarship
As a co-founder and branch director of Project SPARK (STEM Projects Advancing Real-world Knowledge), I had the opportunity to volunteer in a way that profoundly impacted both my community and my personal growth. Project SPARK, created as part of the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) component of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, aimed to ignite curiosity about STEM in underserved elementary school students. Over the course of the program, we reached over 500 Title I students across three Flagler County schools: Bunnell Elementary, Rymfire Elementary, and Wadsworth Elementary. Our mission was simple: inspire these students to see the world of STEM as a place where they belonged. We organized after-school programs offering hands-on experiments, from building simple circuits to exploring chemical reactions. As a branch director, I coordinated the logistics, led a team of volunteers, and worked directly with the students. But what I did not expect was how much the experience would change me. Initially, I thought the program's impact would be all about the knowledge we imparted. But as I spent more time with these students, I realized that what we were truly doing was creating a space where they felt seen, valued, and capable. Many of these children came from backgrounds where opportunities like this were few and far between. Their excitement was palpable. They dove into experiments with the enthusiasm that only comes from the thrill of discovering something new, something they never thought possible. Watching their faces light up when they grasped a concept or solved a problem was a feeling that words can not fully capture. What truly touched me was not just their thirst for knowledge but their need for mentorship. These children did not just need someone to teach them about science or engineering—they needed someone to believe in them, someone who could show them that they could achieve more than they had ever imagined. As a mentor, I realized that this was not just about academics. It was about offering them a glimpse into a future they had not yet dared to dream of. The bonds we built were built on trust, encouragement, and shared excitement for what they could achieve. This experience taught me the true meaning of leadership. Leadership is not about power or authority; it's about lifting others up. It’s about creating opportunities for people to discover their strengths and feel supported as they grow. Through Project SPARK, I learned that the most impactful leadership comes from a place of service—of giving your time, energy, and love to those who need it most. Leadership through service is about being there, not just to teach but to guide, inspire, and encourage. It’s about offering a hand up, not just a lesson. I had always been driven by my own academic and career goals, and as I now pursue a future in business, I never expected this experience to shape my worldview as it has. Volunteering with Project SPARK has instilled in me a sense of responsibility that goes beyond just personal success. This experience made me realize the profound effect that service can have—not only on the lives of those you help but also on your own heart. I now know that leadership is not about what you take from the world, but what you give back. Project SPARK has transformed my understanding of what it means to lead. It’s not just about making a difference in someone’s life—it’s about helping them believe in themselves and in doing so, changing the world, one small step at a time.

The decision to pursue a business degree stems from a deep sense of ambition, shaped by my family’s sacrifices and my drive to excel. As a first-generation college student, I am very aware of the challenges my parents faced. My father, an entrepreneur, built his business from the ground up, and my mother, who works in finance, navigated a complex field without the benefit of a degree. Watching their determination to create a better life instilled in me a relentless work ethic and a commitment to achieving my goals. Their example motivates me to build my own path—one marked by dedication, innovation, and the desire to make a meaningful impact. From an early age, I was captivated by the dynamic nature of the business world. Finance intrigues me for its ability to shape economies and uplift individuals, while corporate law fascinates me for its role in guiding ethical decision-making. A business education bridges these interests, equipping me with the tools to excel in financial analysis, strategic management, and legal frameworks. These disciplines align with my long-term vision of becoming a leader who blends technical expertise with a humanist perspective. My sense of purpose is also inspired by the sacrifices of my grandfather, who served in Vietnam, similar to Mr. Boyd J. Cameron. Their selflessness reminds me that success often rests on the foundation of those who came before us. I strive to honor their legacies and sacrifices not just by achieving personal success but by giving back to others. Thus, my drive to make an impact is deeply personal. Growing up, I was supported by a network of people who believed in my potential. That foundation inspired me to co-found Project SPARK (STEM Projects Advancing Real-World Knowledge), a CAS initiative that has provided STEM opportunities to over 500 Title 1 elementary school students in Flagler County. Through this project, I saw how education can transform lives, sparking curiosity and confidence in underserved communities. These moments reaffirmed my belief that ambition must be coupled with action to create lasting change. As a student in the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business and Honors Program, I have embraced my role as both a learner and a leader, challenging myself to think critically and develop solutions to complex problems. Balancing rigorous academics with involvement in initiatives that support others has taught me the importance of resilience and focus—qualities that drive my success both in and beyond the classroom. My ambition is rooted in a vision for the future where the skills I develop will empower me to address systemic inequities and foster sustainable growth. In finance, I hope to spearhead initiatives that expand financial literacy and access to resources for underserved populations, helping individuals build economic independence. Similarly, my passion for corporate law drives my desire to advocate for ethical business practices that prioritize both social responsibility and profitability. While my family’s sacrifices have undoubtedly laid the foundation for my journey, it is my ambition and determination that fuel my desire to create a legacy of impact. Whether mentoring students, supporting entrepreneurial ventures, or advocating for inclusive policies, I am committed to leaving a tangible mark on my community. By pursuing a business degree, I seek to merge my personal drive with my gratitude for the opportunities I’ve been given. This path allows me to honor the sacrifices of those who have shaped me while carving out a future defined by hard work, purpose, and giving back. My journey is one of ambition and action, aimed at creating a brighter future for myself and those I have the privilege to uplift.
