      Nick Lindblad Memorial Scholarship
Over my high school career, I have excelled musically, which has prepared me to further my education after high school. At school, I am actively involved in the Jazz Band, Pep Band, Drumline, Student Government Association and Chinese Club. I also played Football, Wrestling and did Track & Field. I am also a Hurtado Scholar. Outside of school, I am a part of the Kansas City Jazz Academy Ensemble, Kansas City Jazz Collective Ensemble and I am the Drummer at my church. I aim to create an impact through music by fostering inclusivity in school and my community. I believe that music has the power to transcend barriers, bringing people together regardless of their backgrounds. I hope to inspire listeners to reflect, engage, and make a positive difference in their own lives. With scholarship support from the Nick Lindblad Memorial Scholarship, I can focus more on my studies in college, where I plan to study Music Performance and continue participating in extracurricular activities that enrich my educational experience. Your investment in me will enable myself to excel academically and develop skills that are essential in today’s competitive landscape. I am applying for this scholarship because I have chosen to pursue a career in music. Music has always been a profound part of my life. This Scholarship, will allow me to further explore, study and pursue my love as a Drummer. I have taken drum lessons since the age of 4. From a young age, I found solace in melodies, rhythms, and lyrics that resonate with the human experience. This passion has evolved into a desire not only to create music but to use it as a tool for positive change in the world. I am not just a student, but I am also a leader in my community and among my peers. I have taken on roles in various organizations, in and out of school, where I have demonstrated my leadership skills and inspired others to pursue their goals. Through countless volunteer work and community initiatives, over the years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the resilience and strength of individuals, which inspires me to contribute meaningfully. I have demonstrated leadership in my school and community through various initiatives that focus on community development and engagement. One of my key projects was organizing the Thanksgiving Food Basket giveaway with High Aspirations. As one of the Team Leaders, it was my responsibility to put together the signup sheet and coordinate with the boys on my team, which food items or monetary amounts they would donate. I oversaw my team, making sure we reached our deadline. I followed up with reminder phone calls to the parents, to ensure the needs were met for the receiving families. I also coordinated with my fellow teammates, to promote the event. This experience taught me the importance of collaboration and effective communication, as I needed to ensure everyone felt valued and included in the process. Ultimately, my journey in music is about more than personal success. It is about using my drum skillset to amplify and make a positive change by mentoring the next generation. I envision a future where my music contributes to a greater understanding of the challenges we face as a society, encouraging empathy and action. Through hard work, dedication and creativity, I hope to inspire the world and resonate with the youth and impact positive change. Investing scholarship money, time and effort in me is an investment. By supporting my journey, you are helping to cultivate a future leader who will not only succeed but also uplift others along the way.

Everett J. Collins, Jr. Music Scholarship
I have a true love and passion for music. I have taken drum lessons since the age of 4. I want to attend college to pursue a life in the arts world, which will allow me to further explore, study and pursue my love as a drummer. There are so many opportunities available that are specific to me crafting my drum skillset. Knowing that I can continue to network, meet other students from across the world, and build relationships with musicians, is priceless. While performing music, I feel free and it brings me great joy. I have improved as a musician during these high school years and I have been able to become a leader and teach other young musicians at school. I am currently the Lead on our Drumline. I have matured and have taken on leadership roles. Becoming a musician has enabled me to travel across the country, perform at various venues, and meet dozens of talented musicians and instructors. It feels great when I get requested to perform gigs around the city. Over my high school career, I have excelled musically, which has prepared me to further my education after high school. I am a Senior at Rockhurst High School. At Rockhurst, I am actively involved in the Jazz Band, Pep Band, Drumline, and Chinese Club-Lion Dance. Outside of school I play the drums for the Kansas City Jazz Academy, Kansas City Jazz Academy Collective, and my church. Every year since my Freshman year, I have auditioned for the All-District Band, where I always receive the highest possible score, which further qualifies me to audition for State every year in Columbia, MO. I was blessed to attend the 3-Day Percussion & Drum Workshop, Summer 2022 & the Aspire-5-Week Music Performance Intensive, Summer 2023 & 2024 at Berklee College of Music, in Boston, MA. Attending these camps were an amazing experience for me. I was able to network, meet other students from across the world and build relationships with some of the faculty. I love to entertain and put on a show and aspire to attend a college that will encourage me to be creative and have fun making music. New experiences gained from being a college student will allow me to not only showcase my skills and talents but will also allow me to advance as an artist and inspire the world. I enjoy listening to and performing all genre of music. I have performed Jazz, blues, hip hop, country, rock, pop, R&B, and gospel (old school and new school). I can see myself performing across the world and teaching other musicians along the way. I have met numerous musicians who have given me advice and guided me on my journey. I would like to be a similar resource for others.
