My name is Izaiah Holley, and I am from San Bernardino, California. Growing up in a large family with five brothers and two sisters, I learned early on the value of hard work, resilience, and leadership. My parents were the first in their families to attend college, and they instilled in me the importance of education. While my family always encouraged me to strive for success, financial difficulties made it harder to access the resources I needed to thrive. Despite this, I was determined to excel academically and athletically. I have maintained a 3.8 GPA while excelling in sports, particularly football. I’m blessed to continue playing football at the collegiate level, which has been a huge part of my life. Beyond athletics, my goal is to major in business at Benedictine College. I chose this path because I want to use my education to make a positive impact on my community. I hope to one day start my own business, create opportunities for others, and give back to those who may not have had the same advantages I’ve had. However, my journey has not been without challenges. One of the most significant obstacles I faced came during my senior year of high school. In order to improve my chances of playing football at the next level, I made the difficult decision to move to Salt Lake City to live with my uncle. This meant leaving my family, friends, and everything I had known in California behind. The adjustment was tough, and for the first week, I struggled to find my place. I was quiet and isolated, feeling disconnected from everything around me. During this time, I received a phone call from a close friend back home. His words, “Believe and let it work out,” had a profound effect on me. I realized that my move to Salt Lake City had a purpose, even if I didn’t fully understand it at the time. I decided to embrace my new situation and focus on helping my football team succeed. I put the team’s needs before my own, and we ended up achieving great things, including beating highly ranked teams. By leading with a selfless mindset, I was also rewarded with a scholarship to play football at the collegiate level. From this experience, I learned the importance of perseverance, faith, and putting others before myself. It taught me that challenges are a part of life, but how you respond to them is what shapes your future. I learned that sometimes the hardest moments lead to the greatest opportunities, and that success isn’t just about individual achievement—it’s about how you contribute to the success of others. This lesson continues to influence my educational and career goals. I am determined to make the most of my opportunity at Benedictine College and use my education to make a positive impact on the world. This journey has taught me that obstacles can be overcome with faith, hard work, and a focus on serving others.

Growing up in San Bernardino, California, and with five brothers and two sisters, I did not have too many easy days to mention. Being the second youngest and final son, the pressure to attempt to live up to my preceding siblings was staggering. My parents, both the first in their families to go to college, instilled in me the value of education and hard work. But financial difficulties made these goals challenging to attain, and I had to work even harder to surpass the obstacles that limited resources presented. One of the toughest experiences that I have endured was in my senior year in high school. I had to move to Salt Lake City and live with my uncle. I did this in order to focus on football and improve my chances of playing at the college level. It was very hard to leave family and all that I knew. I battled loneliness and felt isolated in this new world, particularly as I knew no one in the region. The initial week was difficult, and I was introverted and uncertain about my place. A phone call from my close friend back home gave me the strength I needed. His words—"Believe and let it work out"—made me realize that I had a reason for being in Salt Lake, though I couldn't see it then. I chose to embrace my situation, focus on helping my football team win, and put other people's needs ahead of my own. I helped the team win and received a scholarship to play football in college. I learned a lot from this experience about leadership, having faith in oneself, and never quitting. In spite of this success, financial hardships have been a constant part of my life. The limited means of my family made it look like a far-fetched dream to fund higher studies. I was extremely concerned with not being able to afford college. This scholarship will truly allow me to achieve my school and athletic aspirations. It will reduce the financial stress of tuition, and I can focus on my studies and continue to play football without concern about how expensive it is. This scholarship is not just a chance for me to receive my business degree from Benedictine College, but it also offers a way for me to become the first in my family to receive a master's degree. It will give me the ability to create a better future, not just for myself, but for my family too. In the years to come, I plan to use all that I have acquired and learned to help my community and others who share the same problems. This scholarship will help make my dreams come true, and I am extremely thankful for the chance it offers me.

My name is Izaiah Holley, and I grew up in San Bernardino, California, with my five brothers and two sisters. As the second youngest, I was often caught between the expectations of my older siblings and the pressure of being the youngest son. Growing up in a large family, I learned early on the values of hard work, toughness, and leadership. These lessons have shaped my attitude toward school, sports, my personality, and my goals for the future. One of the most significant experiences that shaped my life happened during my senior year of high school. I was forced to move to Salt Lake City to live with my uncle in order to focus on football and to gain a better opportunity to play at the next level. The decision was incredibly difficult because I had to leave my family behind and adjust to a completely new environment. For the first week, I was introverted and struggled to find my place in this new city. I felt disconnected and unsure of my role in this unfamiliar setting. During this time, I received an unexpected phone call from a close friend back home. His words felt like a message straight from God: "Believe and let it work out." Those words resonated deeply with me. They reminded me that my move to Salt Lake had a purpose, even if I couldn’t see it at the time. I realized that I needed to trust the process and that God had a plan for me. From that point forward, I decided to embrace my situation and focus on serving others, particularly my football team. Instead of making everything about myself, I made it my mission to help my team succeed. I put the needs of the team before my own and worked hard to lead by example. I dedicated myself to the success of the team, focusing on teamwork, encouragement, and doing whatever was needed to help us win. As a result, we accomplished remarkable feats, beating some of the top teams in the state. It was a testament to the power of putting others first, and the experience had a profound impact on me. In the short term, this experience taught me the value of selflessness and how it can directly contribute to success. My dedication to my team helped us achieve more than we thought possible, and in return, I was blessed with a scholarship offer to play football at the collegiate level. This moment was a direct result of my willingness to serve others and put the team’s needs above my own. In the long term, the lessons I learned from this experience will stay with me throughout my life. I plan to continue living by these principles in my future career, whether in business or in any other area of life. By serving others, leading with integrity, and remaining humble, I know that I can make a positive impact on the world. I want to give back to my community, create opportunities for those who need it most, and inspire others to believe in themselves and trust in God's plan for their lives. Through hard work, faith, and service, I believe that I can help create a better tomorrow for myself and for those around me.

My name is Izaiah Holley. I grew up in San Bernardino, California, with my five brothers and two sisters. Being the second youngest, I had the pressure of living up to expectations—stuck between keeping pace with my older siblings and being the youngest son. Growing up in a big family, I learned early on the values of hard work, toughness, and leadership. These lessons have changed my attitude toward school, sports, my personality, and my goals for the future. I have always tried to excel, and hence I have managed to achieve a 3.8 GPA and also excel at sports. Football, especially, has been a very important part of my life, and I am blessed to be able to continue with it in college. My drive to succeed is not just in athletics; it is also in school life, where I want to study business at Benedictine College. I selected business because I feel that this is one field where I might really be able to help individuals and communities. I would like to establish a solid career in my studies and give back as well, particularly to those who have not had the same opportunities I've enjoyed. One of the most challenging experiences that I have endured happened in my senior year of high school. I was forced to move to Salt Lake City so that I could live with my uncle in a bid to focus on football and have an opportunity to play at a higher level. The choice was not easy since I was forced to leave my family and all that I was used to. During the initial week, I was introverted and found it hard to adjust to where I was residing. I did not know my role in this new location and felt disconnected from all that was around me. But there came a point when a very close friend back home called me out of the blue. What he said was like a message from God: "Believe and let it work out." Those few powerful words altered the entire outlook. It reminded me that I did have a reason for moving to Salt Lake, and I had to trust that God knew what He was doing and had a plan for my life. From that time, I chose to accept my new situation, focus on helping my football team, and put other people's needs before my own. I decided to lead by example, working as hard as I could for the team both on and off the field. Instead of working for my own accomplishment, I worked to help others and do our part to bring success to our team. In doing this, we accomplished things people believed were impossible and beat highly touted programs in the process. Finally, all my hard work and willingness to help others were rewarded when a college offered me a scholarship to play football. I learned valuable lessons from this experience about not giving up, being faithful, and leadership. I look forward to applying these principles in my future career, both in business and life. I would like to contribute positively to the world by helping people in need and by being honest, humble, and kind at all times. I feel that through hard work, faith, and dedication to others, I can help make a better tomorrow for myself and for those whom I serve.

My name is Izaiah Holley, and I hail from San Bernardino, California. My life took a dramatic turn when I moved to Salt Lake City for my senior year of high school. It was hard to adjust, and everything was just so different from what I was used to. During the first week, I kept to myself and was shy, not knowing where I was going or how to go about getting settled into this new world. One day, out of the blue, I received a call from a close friend back home. What he told me really hit me hard and seemed like God's message to me. He said, "Believe and let it work out." It touched me in a manner that I could not explain, and it reminded me of the reasons why my move to Salt Lake had to take place. I understood that God had a plan for me, and I needed to have faith in it. This change in my attitude helped me approach my new school and my football team with a positive attitude. I began to prioritize others, thinking about what I could do to help the team succeed instead of merely thinking about my own success. I worked as hard as I could to support my fellow teammates, whether that meant giving them motivation, being a leader both on and off the field, or just doing whatever it took to help the team perform well. We managed to beat some top-ranked teams that year, and we were successful because everyone came together and put the team first before any of our own personal goals. A college phoned me and offered me a scholarship to play football since I had worked hard on the team. That is because I put Jesus first, others second, and myself last. By putting what was best for the team first and believing that God had a plan for my life, things began to fall into place. Going forward, I plan to live these values out. I will always try to put God first in everything that I do, others' needs before mine, and have faith that everything will go as He has intended. These values will not only guide me on the field but also in my life and career, allowing me to leave a legacy built on faith, service, and humility.

My name is Izaiah Holley, and I was raised in San Bernardino, California, where I was surrounded by my two sisters and five brothers. Being the second youngest, I was usually stuck between doing what my older siblings said and dealing with the pressure of being the last son. Although I did not grow up in foster care, I had my own share of difficulties that have made me the person I am today. I've always been expected to be at a higher level, and that has pushed me to try harder at everything I do. In high school, I held a 3.8 GPA and performed well in athletics by competing in three varsity sports. The sport that has influenced my life the most is football, and I'm looking forward to pursuing my athletic career at the college level. My parents were both first-generation college students in their families, and their success has been a major motivation for me. I've admired them ever since, and now my aspiration is to become the first in my family to gain a master's degree in business. I am excited to be attending Benedictine College, which has an excellent business program that I believe will open doors for me in the future. Before visiting the school, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to study. But when I viewed the business hall and the things the program has to offer, I knew this was the way to go. I understood that a business degree would give me the foundation I require to construct a successful career and assist others in the process. Although I didn’t grow up in foster care, my final year of high school presented a unique challenge. I moved to Salt Lake City to live with my uncle so I could focus on football and prepare for the next chapter of my athletic career. The experience of leaving home at a crucial time in my life taught me the importance of independence and self-reliance. It wasn’t easy being away from my family, and I missed home, but I also realized that this move was a blessing. It opened doors for me both in football and in life, allowing me to take control of my future and develop the skills I need to succeed. The lessons I’ve learned from these experiences—whether it’s the pressure to succeed, the importance of independence, or the value of seizing opportunities—have shaped my future goals. Once I graduate, I aim to utilize my business degree to not just create a successful career for myself, but also to provide for others. I would like to utilize my success as a means to assist others who might encounter the same dilemmas, particularly youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. I think that I, through business, can generate opportunities that will have a positive effect on other people's lives, as I have been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to transform my own. In sum, the events that have molded me—from coming from a large family to deciding to move away for football—have all had a hand in my passion for business and wanting to be successful. I look forward to my future at Benedictine College, and I will stop at nothing to reach my goals of obtaining a master's degree and building a career that helps others in a positive manner.

How Leadership and Science Shape Our Future Leadership and science are two powerful forces that will shape the future of humanity. As we face global challenges such as climate change, technological advancement, health crises, and social inequality, both strong leadership and scientific innovation will be crucial in steering us toward a better world. Leadership provides the vision, direction, and motivation needed to harness the power of science, while science offers the tools and knowledge to solve complex problems and improve lives. Together, they hold the potential to create a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future for all. Leadership as a Driving Force Effective leadership is fundamental to guiding society through change and progress. Leaders, whether in government, business, or communities, are responsible for making decisions that influence the direction of the world. They help shape policies, establish priorities, and foster collaboration among various sectors to address pressing issues. In times of uncertainty, leadership provides stability, hope, and the confidence that challenges can be overcome. Leadership also plays a key role in inspiring people to take action. Visionary leaders can mobilize communities, businesses, and governments to work together toward common goals, especially when it comes to science and technology. A good leader encourages innovation, fosters critical thinking, and creates an environment where ideas can flourish. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, strong leadership was essential in coordinating global efforts for vaccine development, distribution, and public health messaging. Leaders who communicated clearly, promoted collaboration, and trusted scientific expertise were able to navigate the crisis more effectively. Science as a Tool for Progress On the other hand, science is the engine that drives much of the progress we see in the world today. Scientific discoveries and technological innovations have transformed every aspect of human life, from healthcare to communication, transportation, and energy. Science provides us with the knowledge to understand our world and the universe, and it enables us to solve problems that were once thought insurmountable. One of the most significant ways science shapes our future is through the development of sustainable technologies. With growing concerns about climate change and the depletion of natural resources, scientific research is essential in finding alternatives to fossil fuels, reducing carbon emissions, and creating clean energy solutions. Breakthroughs in renewable energy, such as solar, wind, and hydrogen power, are already helping to reduce our dependence on non-renewable resources and mitigate the environmental impacts of human activity. Additionally, advancements in fields such as biotechnology, medicine, and artificial intelligence are transforming our approach to healthcare, education, and industry. For instance, genetic research has enabled the development of personalized medicine and therapies for previously incurable diseases. Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing industries by increasing efficiency, automating tasks, and providing new insights through data analysis. These scientific advancements hold the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for people worldwide. In conclusion, leadership and science are inextricably linked in shaping the future of humanity. Effective leadership provides the vision and drive to push scientific advancements forward, while science offers the knowledge and solutions to solve the world's most pressing problems. Together, they can pave the way for a future that is more sustainable, healthier, and more equitable. By fostering collaboration between these two forces, we can create a world that not only survives but thrives in the face of global challenges.

The movie that has had the greatest impact on my life is When the Game Stands Tall. It’s a football film that tells the story of a high school football team facing the highs and lows of their journey, ultimately learning the importance of teamwork, trust, and perseverance. This film resonated with me deeply, not only because of my love for sports but because it reinforced life lessons that have shaped my outlook on teamwork, hard work, and personal growth. What stood out the most in When the Game Stands Tall is the idea that success isn’t just about individual talent or achievements—it’s about how much you trust others and the people around you. The team in the movie faces numerous challenges, including loss and adversity, but they ultimately realize that they are stronger when they come together and work as one. This lesson has been especially impactful for me as an athlete, where I’ve learned that success on the field is not solely determined by my own skills but by the support and collaboration of the people around me. As a student-athlete, I’ve experienced firsthand how essential it is to trust your teammates, coaches, and support system to achieve great things. The film also emphasizes the power of hard work and resilience. The team doesn’t achieve success overnight. They work tirelessly, overcoming setbacks, and staying committed to their goals. This message has inspired me throughout my own journey. Whether it’s on the field, in the classroom, or in life, I’ve learned that hard work is what truly leads to success. It’s not always easy, and you’re going to face obstacles along the way, but the key is to keep pushing forward. When the Game Stands Tall reminded me that success is the result of consistent effort, resilience, and the refusal to give up when things get tough. Another key lesson from the movie is the importance of leadership. The coach in the film is a true leader—not because he’s the most talented or outspoken, but because he builds a team culture rooted in mutual respect, accountability, and trust. Leadership, as demonstrated in the film, is about guiding others, uplifting those around you, and empowering people to reach their potential. This concept has influenced my own development as a leader, both in sports and in life. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about being the star of the show, but about supporting others, helping them grow, and creating an environment where everyone feels valued. When the Game Stands Tall also taught me that growth isn’t just about success and winning, but about how you handle adversity and learn from failure. The team in the movie faces struggles, but it’s through those struggles that they grow stronger. This resonates with my own experiences, where the most meaningful growth often comes from overcoming challenges and learning from setbacks. In conclusion, When the Game Stands Tall has had a profound impact on my life. The lessons of trust, teamwork, hard work, leadership, and resilience have shaped my mindset both as an athlete and an individual. The movie reinforced that success isn’t achieved alone, and the people around you are just as important as your individual efforts. As I continue to pursue my goals, I carry these lessons with me, knowing they’ll guide me in both my athletic and personal journey.

My name is Izaiah Holley, and I grew up in San Bernardino, California, playing football, track, and baseball. Sports have always been an important part of my life, teaching me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. However, being a student-athlete wasn’t without its challenges. The most difficult was balancing academics, athletics, and personal relationships—especially when I moved to West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, for my senior year. Despite these struggles, I’ve gained valuable lessons that have shaped who I am today and prepared me for playing football at the collegiate level. The most significant challenge I faced was time management. Juggling three sports while maintaining an A average required a high level of organization. Each sport had its own season, practices, and games, all demanding my time. Moving from San Bernardino to Salt Lake City added another layer of complexity, as I had to adapt to a new school environment. To succeed, I had to prioritize my responsibilities, ensuring I studied and completed assignments during any free time. This experience taught me how to manage my time effectively—an essential skill that will serve me throughout my life. Along with time management, physical and mental fatigue were constant challenges. With three sports, my body often felt exhausted, and it was tough to maintain focus and energy for both school and athletic commitments. Playing football, running track, and competing in baseball took a toll on my body, leaving me sore and tired. Additionally, the mental strain of competing at a high level while keeping up with academics was overwhelming at times. I learned to recognize when I needed rest and recovery to avoid burnout. This taught me the importance of balance and knowing when to push myself and when to take a step back. Another lesson I learned was how to handle setbacks. Whether it was adjusting to a new school, a tough loss, or a performance that didn’t meet my expectations, setbacks were inevitable. Moving to Salt Lake City meant facing new coaches and teammates, which was a significant adjustment. But I realized that setbacks are a natural part of sports and life. How I responded to them was what mattered most. I learned that resilience and perseverance are key to overcoming challenges. This mindset has helped me stay focused and continue improving, even in tough times. Lastly, being a student-athlete taught me the importance of maintaining relationships. Even though sports required a lot of my time, I understood the need to stay connected with my family and friends. High school is a time of growth, and having a support system was essential for my well-being. While there were moments I had to sacrifice social events for practices or games, I always made an effort to prioritize my relationships. This balance has taught me that being a student-athlete doesn’t mean neglecting the people who matter most. In conclusion, my experience as a student-athlete has been both challenging and rewarding. The lessons I learned—time management, resilience, the importance of balance, and dealing with setbacks—have shaped who I am today. Moving to Salt Lake City for my senior year pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it also prepared me for the next step: playing football at the collegiate level. These experiences have given me the tools I need to succeed both on and off the field.

As a child, I dreamed of becoming an architect. I was fascinated by buildings and how they shaped the world around us. I would spend hours drawing floor plans and designing imaginary houses, imagining how people would live and interact in those spaces. I loved the idea of creating something that could last for generations and contribute to a community. My childhood was filled with visits to construction sites and architectural landmarks, where I would marvel at the creativity and engineering that went into each structure. However, as I grew older, my interests evolved, and I found myself drawn to the world of commercial real estate. While my childhood dream of being an architect was rooted in creativity, I began to realize that my passion lay more in the broader scope of real estate development. I wanted to understand the economic and social impacts of real estate projects on communities. This shift in focus led me to pursue a degree in commercial real estate, where I could combine my love for design with my interest in business and community development.
