Throughout my life, I have faced significant challenges related to anxiety, self-doubt, and depression. These internal battles have often overshadowed my ambitions and hindered my drive to pursue opportunities that could have positively shaped my future. Despite recognizing the potential for growth and success, the weight of these struggles has made it difficult to take meaningful steps forward. Anxiety has been a persistent companion, manifesting itself in various ways. Whether it was the fear of speaking up in class, the dread of social interactions, or the stress of meeting expectations, anxiety has a way of clouding my judgment and diminishing my confidence. There were countless moments when I found myself hesitating to participate in activities or opportunities, fearing judgment or failure. This often led to missed chances—such as joining clubs, applying for scholarships, or pursuing leadership roles—that could have provided valuable experiences and growth. I look back at these moments with a sense of yearning, realizing that they represented paths to personal development that I allowed anxiety to overshadow. Self-doubt has been another formidable barrier, frequently whispering negative thoughts into my mind. “You’re not good enough,” “You’ll never succeed,” and “What if you fail?”—these phrases echoed in my head, reinforcing my insecurities and stifling my aspirations. When opportunities arose, I often found myself disqualifying my abilities and potential, ultimately retreating from challenges that could have enhanced my skills and built my confidence. This cycle of self-doubt has not only affected my motivation but has also created a pattern of avoidance that has kept me from engaging in activities that could help me thrive. Depression further complicated the landscape of my mental health journey, adding an extra layer of struggle. It drained my energy and enthusiasm, leaving me feeling isolated and despondent. Days of feeling unmotivated and overwhelmed often blurred into weeks, and during these periods, it was difficult to envision a brighter future for myself. When I needed to push through and take action, depression held me back, making even the simplest tasks feel monumental. I often found solace in inaction, but this only perpetuated a feeling of stagnation and unfulfillment. Despite these challenges, I've learned that acknowledging my struggles is an essential step toward overcoming them. I have sought support through therapy and relied on open conversations with trusted friends and family. These steps have been crucial in helping me reframe my belief systems and cultivate a more compassionate view of myself. The journey has taught me resilience and the importance of self-advocacy. Though my struggles with anxiety, self-doubt, and depression have certainly influenced my choices, they have shaped my character and fueled my determination to be better. I am in the process of breaking the cycle of avoidance and learning to embrace opportunities—even the ones that initially scare me. I am committed to confronting my fears, acknowledging my worth, and gradually stepping outside of my comfort zone. Recognizing that my mental health challenges do not define me has been empowering. Each small victory, whether it be speaking up in a group or trying something new, builds my confidence and reminds me that I am capable of growth. My experiences have not only taught me the importance of resilience but have also inspired a desire to advocate for mental health awareness, ensuring that others know they are not alone in their struggles. I am learning to transform my challenges into sources of strength that will guide me on my journey toward better self-fulfillment.

My decision to pursue a career in business stems from a deeply personal desire to build something significant, something that transcends the immediate and creates lasting value for my family and future generations. I come from a single-parent household, and witnessing the daily struggles to make ends meet instilled in me a profound appreciation for financial stability and the importance of creating generational wealth. Being the first in my family to pursue a higher education, particularly a business degree, represents a pivotal moment not just for me, but for my entire family's trajectory. This isn't merely about personal enrichment; it's about breaking cycles of financial insecurity and establishing a foundation of opportunity for those who come after me. While my family did not immigrate to the U.S. from another country, we faced our own set of significant challenges that have shaped my character and aspirations. Growing up in a single-parent household with a low income meant that every day came with struggles that provided both obstacles and lessons. My mother worked tirelessly to support us, often holding multiple jobs to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads. However, the reality of living with limited resources meant that we were often faced with tough decisions about how to make ends meet. Living in a low-income environment, I quickly learned about the realities of financial hardship. There were times when we had to go without basic necessities, and I remember days when my mother would skip meals to ensure that I had enough to eat. These experiences were not just difficult; they were transformative. They instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and an understanding of the struggle that many families face when resources are scarce. More importantly, they fueled my desire to seek out better opportunities for myself and my family. Witnessing my mother’s perseverance has had a profound impact on me. Her dedication to our well-being inspired me to cultivate a mindset of resilience and determination. I realized that if I wanted a different future for myself, I would need to put in the effort to create it. This realization solidified my ambition to be the first in my family to graduate from college. I want to break the generational curses of poverty and set a new precedent. I believe that education is the key to unlocking opportunities, and I fully intend to harness its power to change my trajectory. The challenges I faced growing up in a single-parent household also taught me the importance of hard work and self-discipline. From a young age, I learned that there would rarely be someone to hand me opportunities on a silver platter. I had to advocate for myself, seek out resources, and work diligently to achieve my goals. Whether it was staying up late to complete homework or searching for scholarships and internships, I learned that success requires effort and tenacity. Moreover, these experiences cemented my passion for helping others who may find themselves in similar circumstances. I’ve developed a strong desire to give back to my community, especially to those who are navigating the challenges of single-parent households and financial struggle. I want to be a source of inspiration and support, showing others that it’s possible to rise above difficult circumstances and create a brighter future. In essence, the challenges my family faced have shaped who I am today and continue to motivate me. I’m driven by the desire to not only improve my own life but to contribute positively to my family’s story and my community. By attaining a college degree and shaping a successful career, I aim to break free from the patterns that have historically held my family back. Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I've been a fan of Sabrina Carpenter since Girl meets world, and I really loved her character because I've always felt that her character sometimes portrayed my own life in some ways. I loved how her character Mya always showed her true self, she was never afraid of anyone, and she always stood her ground; she was always goofing around, she never let anyone hurt or talk bad about her friends, she loved seeing her friends succeed. I really liked her character's personality and determination which allowed me to follow as an artist after, I started really getting into her music (which I listen to on repeat sometimes). Her career as an artist and actor has impacted me in many ways from following my heart to knowing I can become more if I put my mind to it. In one of her first songs I listened to she let me know that there was nothing wrong with being a girl and just trying and that made me feel way better about a lot of things I was going through at the time, I feel like her music is true and genuine. I feel like that's what's makes her a true artist. This shows hoe Sabrina Carpenter has impacted me.

Hi, my name is Iyanah Williams, and what I like to say about myself is that I'm a hard-working student, big sister, friend, Christian, Etc. I say that I am a hard worker because I try hard in anything I do no matter what, I always try to look for the best outcome of the situation, always keep my head high, and always see the bright side of things; whether it be in school or life. as of right now my school life is kind of hard because I am a senior transitioning from high school to college and we're getting acceptances trying to fill out scholarships and getting enough money to make it to my first choice School is all very stressful, but I'm hanging in there and getting done what I need to. Not too long ago, I just got accepted into three more schools one of those schools being my first choice School which was very exciting for me now all I need to worry about is figuring out how I'm going to pay for college using a scholarships, grants, and FASFA, in which you could be of some help by supporting me with this scholarship. That is all that needs to be said for now hopefully you can see where I'm coming from and around me to use the scholarship to get into school and help me in the long run.

First I’d like to say, it would be an honor to be chosen for this scholarship but first I’d like to say a few things about myself that will express my interest. The business part: The field of education I'm planning on studying is business management/ entrepreneurship. I'm planning on studying this field because I already have a business of my own and I want to know how to grow/expand it and build it. I first officially started my business in 2021. It started with me having an interest/ idea for doing nails just for the fact I found them so pretty and always wanted mine done but my mom wouldn’t let me; and just being in the nail salon with her I was just so fascinated by what they did, then, which led me to start my business. Starting that led me to my likeness for beauty (things like hair nails and lashes) and art. So the thing that would interest me most when going to college is to do something with beauty or business to help me expand my own. I think I would have success in what I'm doing because there's still a high demand for it as well as other things I plan to do. In general, what a successful life looks like for me is being able to have a part-time job if I wanted to while still being able to have my own business which I can either have as a side hustle or a full-time job, and being able to live with the Financial Freedom and the part of being Your own boss that comes with it. About the rest of me: I am a big sister/ mom figure and a Christian. Because I am a big sister with a single parent, I am expected to do a lot around the house for my siblings and myself. With that comes the act of a mom, like making sure they eat, shower, get homework done, clean up their mess, and go to bed on time to get ready for school the next day, and still have to do the same for me. This causes a lot of stress, which can sometimes cause me to be in a depressed/ exhausted state but it’s something I work on to give myself more peace. With more peace comes my Christianity. Lastly, I am a great helper and hard worker, I am independent, shy, and an introvert and extrovert. It sounds like a lot and is also kind of hard but manageable being all of these things. Also, I know most people say they are hard workers, but what does that mean? To me, a hard worker is someone who not only looks out for others but themselves in the process. For example, you're making sure your getting all of your work done, asking for help if needed, helping others and making sure/remind friends who you know have a hard time remembering a lot about their work as well, making daily calls, praying for friends, making time for peace, hustling in getting what you need to get done, done, making it to work, working at your best. That's what I believe a hard worker to be, and this is why I want to study entrepreneurship.

What are the skills that I possess that will help me on going into the field that interest me? I feel as though I have many skills for many different opportunities. I know a couple things that I wanted to do it start a business(in hair, nails, and lashes), be a social worker or an educator for special ed kids, be a real estate agent, or even something as simple as taking care of elderly people. And I feel as though for most of these careers are ready I think I have what it takes or the skills to be put in the field these careers, but there are also some things I may still have to learn like the management or patience part of it all. But being a high school senior and being in a single parent at home with a house of 4+ a cat and a dog and being around Nagy people all the time it really takes a toll on your patience. But even insane that I would still want to take care of old people because first off the pay is good, and even though some elderly people can be old and grumpy, I know that not to categorize all elderly people, so I know it won’t be too bad to the point where I get fired for anything because I know how to control myself in my words, unlike some people, and I know it wouldn’t be too hard, because it would be just like taking care of one of my own grandparents, which I would be able to do for them, if needed be as well. But aside from that the reason, these careers interests me is because for a social worker/special ed teacher I’m allowed to be able to teach kids with a learning disability in the correct way so they’re not using their bad behavior as a way to show their misunderstanding, but that using their communication skills to project that they’re having trouble with whatever it is, they’re doing. But for the business and being a real estate agent, that was more so about just earning a wealthy wage that will allow me to live lifestyle of my choice, which does it mean to be rich because you can still live wealthy and comfortable without being rich. And I would like to pray that I get to do so.

What are my goals and how can this scholarship help me achieve them?… Hi, my name is Iyanah Williams and I’m from North Philly. As a big sister/ mom and a senior in high school and a broke kid, my goals are to get the best job I can that can make me the most amount of money, but to make it their my sub goals would have to be to keep going to school, to learn, to get a good education, and apply my newfound knowledge to whatever career I choose. But my main goal is to get a good enough education that’s going to put me in a wealthy paying job. What this scholarship can do to help me achieve that goal is provide me with the funds I need to make it to the school of my choice that will teach me the knowledge I need to obtain and put towards my career. The different careers I could go to school for would be to start and manage a business, becoming a social worker or a teacher for special ed kids, or even learning how to be a real estate agent or even as Little is going to school to learn to do hair or just being a simple educator, or what I would like to do is be the jack of all trades, having many skills for many different career paths. I’m still trying to see what I’m more passionate about my career, or just be able to do everything and I could multitask with a different things. I’m still working on what I wanna do because I don’t have a set goal, but like I said that’s good because I can try out different things and see what are most good at and still have experience from doing other things so that I may just have the knowledge of it even if I can’t do it perfectly. These are my goals and why I have them and how the scholarship would be able to help me achieve them. (P.s, I didn’t know what else to write, but I needed 400 words as a minimum so what I would like to say, or add on, is that I am a first generational student to be able to go to college in my family, in a single parent household which can also be another way, the scholarship could help me achieve my goals
