Hello! My name is Ivy, and I am a current freshman at the University of Michigan. I am majoring in Neuroscience/Psychology, with an intent of going pre-med. My experience as a licensed Emergency Medical Responder and senior center worker has only reinforced my desire to work in patient care. I have spent over 250 hours on the ambulance in the past year, and have also spent upwards of 150 hours doing other volunteer work. I was honored to earn the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Gold). I am also passionate about universal health care and the public health aspect of medicine. I have contributed to the passing of several healthcare related legislative acts. With College911.net, I contributed to the COREY Safety Act (S. 2461/H.R 4903), and passed the CT Public Act 21-184 (bipartisan support), both ensuring that colleges publicly report deaths/injuries. This encourages transparency and investment in safer infrastructure, which saves lives. Additionally, as the older sister to three younger brothers and the child of immigrants, I have learned hard work and determination. I am always interested in learning new things, and am eternally grateful for the opportunities that these scholarships provide in allowing me to advance my education!

  ACO seeks to increase Senegalese access to healthcare and education in highly impoverished areas. 4 elementary schools, 2 hospitals, and 1 Technical school (degree awarded) have been built. There is a service trip 1x/yr to provide medical support. I visited villages in Senegal with a group of 26 doctors, treating 2400+ patients over 14 days.
