Hello, I am India Turner. My goal in life is to be a pediatric psychiatrist, and to help break the mental health stigma in the black community. I am a student at Northwestern State University, but I plan to transfer to Xavier University of Louisiana in the fall. I believe this school is more aligned with my goals in life. With my career I want to be someone who can truly change lives by helping those better their mental health. Helping those from infancy to adolescence to understand mental health and its importance, as well as helping them deal with it through proper intervention. I want to create an open environment with no judgement for those to be able to openly express their issues and get the help they need. In my school I have become involved in Helping Hands, a community service organization. African American Caucus, an organization that brings African American culture to our school. Choir, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, there I sit on the board as the editor. I also volunteer at our school's food pantry every week. I’ve also recently been accepted into the Biomedical Honor Corps at Xavier University of Louisiana. I am thankful for the opportunity that this platform presents and thankful to those who believe in me!
