My name is Marryah Young and today I’m going to give you all a little insight about my life growing up. I was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on May 5, 2007. My mother was 16 at the time and I don’t really know too much on my Father other than his mother was there the day I was born. Growing up I tried to build a connection with my father, but with him starting another family I kind of just got pushed aside. At the age of three my mom‘s side of the family up to move to Birmingham, Alabama, where I started kindergarten your Robinson Elementary school. As soon as I started, I kind of knew that it was gonna be something that I really liked. As I got older, I started to wonder about my career and then came second grade. I decided that I wanted to be a lawyer because they made a lot of money but watching the TV show about lawyers showed me a lot. At times they’re gonna have to lie, and I didn’t want to be caught in a situation where I would have a client and I would have no choice but to lie for them. Sooner or later that career died, and I was introduced into different organizations throughout elementary school and joined plenty more in middle school. I was known as one of the smartest kids at school. My mom made sure that when I went to school, I would come home with no less than a B and I would live up to those expectations because I wanted to make her proud. Suddenly, I begin to notice things like how my friends’ parents were the age of my grandmother and my mother was somewhere around her late 20s early 30s. That’s when high school brought everything to the light and I finally had an understand. Teen pregnancy was real, my mom raised me with values and beliefs to ensure that I avoided becoming pregnant. Yes I was allowed to have relationships, but I knew there were things that we couldn’t do and there were things we shouldn’t do and I made sure I followed every rule. My most recent relationship today started off a little rocky due to my mother being a young parent. I had to show my partner’s mother that my mother raised me right. I do my best to stay respectful around my peers and the others that look up to me. High school helped me become a leader and from that day on forward I knew I had the skills, and the talent to become a person in business. My friends say that I’m bossy, but I honestly just feel like it’s natural talent. But in order to become the part, you have to look apart in the modern lifestyle of a businesswoman was breathtaking. It open my eyes and it made me want to strive to be the person that I’m so close to becoming. I’m officially 18 years old, starting my freshman year of college as a First Gen at Thee Jackson State University. I plan to make new connections and build new Bonds that will last forever and start my legacy.

If I were to bring my personal beliefs, values, and ethics into the business world, it would really shape how I do things. Honesty and integrity would be huge for me. I'm talking about making sure we're always dealing straight, telling the truth, and being upfront, even when it's tough. It's easy to cut corners or shade the truth when you're under pressure, but I think long term, that stuff always comes back to bite you. Building trust with clients, partners, and the people I work with would be a top priority. I mean, business is all about relationships, right? And you can't have good relationships without trust. Also, I'd really focus on fairness and caring about others. It's not just about making money, it's about creating a workplace where everyone gets a fair shake. I'm talking fair wages, equal opportunities, and a culture where people feel valued and respected. I'd want to make sure we're thinking about how our decisions affect everyone like employees, customers, the community, and even the environment. I wouldn't want to run a business that makes a profit at the expense of other people's well-being or the planet. I think a lot about the impact businesses have on the world. It's not enough to just sell a product or service, you have to consider the ripple effect. Are we creating jobs? Are we supporting local communities? Are we minimizing our environmental footprint? These are the kinds of questions I'd be asking myself and my team all the time. Basically, I'd aim to make business decisions that do the most good and the least harm. It's not always easy, and there will be times when you have to make tough choices. But if you have a strong ethical compass and you're committed to doing the right thing, I think you can create a successful business that also makes a positive impact on the world. That's the kind of business I'd want to run. I plan to navigate this world with the end of mind, I hope to make myself financially stable and in the process of me doing that I want to bring my community something that’s gonna help better our community. I want to use all of that to help build a name for myself and make the world battery compared to when I was younger, and I hope to make my family, peers, friends, mentors, and colleagues feel proud.

Social media has become an integral part of modern life, influencing various aspects of our daily routines, including mental health and self-esteem. On one hand, social media platforms provide a space for connection, communication, and community building. They allow individuals to stay in touch with friends and family, share experiences, and access support networks. However, the constant exposure to idealized images and lifestyles can have detrimental effects on mental health and self-esteem. One significant impact of social media on mental health is the development of anxiety and depression. The pressure to present a perfect life online can lead to feelings of inadequacy and low self-worth. People often compare their real lives to the curated, often unrealistic portrayals they see on social media, resulting in a distorted perception of reality. This comparison can foster negative emotions and contribute to mental health issues. Moreover, the addictive nature of social media can lead to excessive screen time, which has been linked to disrupted sleep patterns and decreased physical activity, further exacerbating mental health problems. To address the impact of social media on mental health and self-esteem, several measures can be taken. Firstly, promoting digital literacy is crucial. Educating individuals, especially young people, about the realities of social media and encouraging critical thinking can help mitigate the negative effects of comparison and unrealistic expectations. Secondly, implementing time management strategies, such as setting limits on social media usage, can reduce the risk of addiction and its associated problems. Additionally, fostering a culture of authenticity and positivity online can create a more supportive and inclusive virtual environment. Encouraging users to share real, unfiltered moments and to engage in constructive and uplifting interactions can help improve overall mental well-being. In conclusion, while social media has its benefits, it also poses significant risks to mental health and self-esteem. By promoting digital literacy, managing screen time, and fostering a positive online culture, we can mitigate these negative impacts and create a healthier relationship with social media. Addressing the impact of social media on mental health and self-esteem can contribute to making America greater in several ways: Improved Mental Health: By promoting digital literacy and encouraging healthier social media habits, we can reduce the prevalence of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. A mentally healthier population is more productive, creative, and capable of contributing positively to society. Enhanced Self-Esteem: Fostering a culture of authenticity and positivity online can help individuals develop a stronger sense of self-worth. When people feel better about themselves, they are more likely to engage in community activities, pursue personal and professional goals, and support others. Stronger Communities: Social media has the potential to build supportive communities. By encouraging positive interactions and real connections, we can strengthen the social fabric of our nation. Stronger communities lead to increased collaboration, mutual support, and resilience in the face of challenges. Informed Citizens: Digital literacy equips individuals with the skills to critically evaluate information online. This can help combat misinformation and foster a more informed and engaged citizenry. An informed population is better equipped to participate in democratic processes and make decisions that benefit society as a whole. Innovation and Creativity: Reducing the negative impacts of social media can free up mental space for creativity and innovation. When people are not bogged down by the pressures and negative emotions associated with social media, they can focus on developing new ideas, starting businesses, and contributing to technological and cultural advancements. So, by addressing the impact of social media on mental health and self-esteem, we can create a healthier, more positive, and more productive society, ultimately contributing to making America greater.

Higher education means a lot to me. My name is Marryah Young, and as a senior at Bessemer City High School, I have always strived to be an overachiever. My journey through high school has been filled with various activities that reflect my creativity, leadership, and determination. Personal growth and development have grown through participating as a member of the BCHS Choir for four years, serving as treasurer in National Honor Society, and involvement in activities at DECA and FBLA. These experiences have refined not only my organizational skills but also the chances to express my creativity through events planning and leading. Higher education represents the next step in my journey to accomplish my career goals. I take this as a chance to build on the foundation I had laid in high school and continue nurturing the skills and knowledge which are necessary for me to climb the ladder of success. My love for business, my desire to be a successful businesswoman, evokes in me energy and devotion to pursue higher education with drive and commitment. I expect this scholarship to be important in the endeavor as it will provide me with financial support that would permit me to focus on studies and various academic and extracurricular activities that will enrich my college experience. Also, the scholarship gives me a position to finally invest in valuable resources, including textbooks, computers, and other means that contribute a great deal to being able to effectively conduct one's study. With all this backing, I have immense opportunity for complete dedication and commitment towards my academics while I engage myself, instead of wasting my energies always on my financial vulnerability. It also allows me an opportunity to major or minor in specific fields while learning of other possible ones. This scholarship will help me in realizing my career goals by saving me from the financial load of higher education, hence helping me focus on my academic excellence as well as building a career. It will afford me great opportunities like internships, networking events, and leadership programs that are instrumental in shaping a successful business career. This support gives me immense confidence to do well in my studies, make valuable experiences, and eventually see my dream of being a successful businesswoman. I would, of course, be very grateful for such a scholarship and the opportunities which it opens, and stand committed to availing every opportunity possible toward pursuing the higher educational goals of my career. I really pray that this essay reveals the best of me and my commitment to the dream.

My name is Marryah Young, and I’m a senior at Bessemer City High School. I’m a very creative and outgoing student, and I consider myself determined to be an overachiever. I sing in the BCHS Choir, and I’m the treasurer for the National Honor Society, as well as a member of DECA and FBLA. People often tell me I have great creativity skills, which I put to use for events that I organize for the BCHS Choir. I played softball for fun from 9th through 11th grade, and I would have continued in 12th grade if I hadn’t torn my ACL and both of my meniscus during the last game of the season. Outside of school, I spend my free time participating in a high school sorority, building a sisterhood with women I can rely on. If I’m not doing that, I’m either gaining experience in the workplace or spending time with and supporting my friends and family. I consider myself a very organized person, and as I’ve grown into the young woman I am today, I have prepared myself for the lifestyle of a businesswoman. They say if you act and dress the part, then you can for sure be the part. I’ve never been in the band, but I love to hear some nice band music, which I think I learned to love from the movie "Drumline." I enjoy watching good movies and TV shows as well, even the clichés. Growing up I never really knew what exactly it was that I wanted to be. I went from wanting be a lawyer or as my mom calls it a Lie-awyer to now wanting to be an entrepreneur. I’ve taken classes all throughout high school to prepare for this career in the future. Now I’m more than ready to turn my dream in to a reality. After I graduate high school, I plan on going to college for Business Administration and receive my MBA. I hope to graduate high school with my real estate license as my backup plan. I’m trying to start a business and open up a training facility in cities that can’t get the attention or the training they need to be successful in the sports environment. I know I have big ideas in my head, but I’m just getting started. To me, personal development means growing into the person I aspire to be. It's about being involved in activities and dedicating myself to organizing events and gaining work experience. I value creativity, organization, and determination, which I use to prepare myself for a future in business. Personal development means acting and dressing the part, gaining skills, and making big plans for my future, like starting a business and opening a training facility. I would like starting a charity to support the elderly and those in nursing homes with no family is a noble and impactful endeavor. This initiative can provide essential companionship, emotional support, and basic necessities to individuals who often feel isolated and forgotten. By organizing volunteer visits, creating care packages, and offering recreational activities, the charity can significantly improve their quality of life. Additionally, establishing partnerships with local businesses and community members can help sustain the charity's efforts and ensure that these vulnerable individuals receive the care and attention they deserve.

“Wicked” has captivated audiences worldwide, and there are several reasons why I am a fan of the new movie adaptation. Firstly, the storyline offers a fresh perspective on the classic tale of "The Wizard of Oz," focusing on the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. This unique narrative twist provides depth to characters that were previously seen as one-dimensional, allowing viewers to understand their motivations and struggles. By exploring themes of friendship, identity, and the nature of good and evil, “Wicked” adds a rich layer of complexity to the beloved story, making it both engaging and thought-provoking. Secondly, the music in “Wicked” is nothing short of spectacular. Composed by Stephen Schwartz, the soundtrack features powerful and memorable songs that have become iconic in the world of musical theater. Tracks like "Defying Gravity" and "Popular" not only showcase the incredible vocal talents of the cast but also convey the emotional journey of the characters. The music enhances the storytelling, drawing the audience into the world of Oz and making the experience truly immersive. The combination of powerful lyrics and captivating melodies ensures that the songs from “Wicked” stay with you long after the movie ends. Lastly, the visual and production elements of the new movie adaptation of “Wicked” are stunning. The film brings the magical land of Oz to life with breathtaking special effects, intricate set designs, and vibrant costumes. These visual elements help to create a fantastical and immersive world that captures the imagination of the audience. The attention to detail in the production design, from the Emerald City to the flying monkeys, adds to the overall enchantment of the film. Additionally, the casting choices and performances of the actors bring authenticity and charisma to their roles, making the characters relatable and memorable. In conclusion, the new movie adaptation of “Wicked” is a masterpiece that combines a compelling storyline, unforgettable music, and stunning visual elements. Its ability to offer a new perspective on a classic tale, along with its emotional depth and artistic excellence, makes it a must-watch for fans of musical theater and fantasy alike. Whether you are a long-time fan of the stage production or new to the story, “Wicked” promises to be an enchanting and unforgettable cinematic experience.
