I really resonate with Jim the most out of all of the characters. I know it is generic, but I am a generic person. I have to deal with Dwights, Kellys, and Stanley's on a daily basis, and I feel like I just have to keep a level head to get through it. Another reason I absolutely resonate with Jim, is because I used to not put any effort into my school or work, but just like Jim, I have grown into caring about what I do, and putting my full effort into it. Last year I got a new job that I enjoy so much more, and I have surrounded myself with people I want to be around. This show has inspired me to achieve more in my own life, but also has helped me deal with people I wouldn't choose to be around normally. This show has absolutely impacted my perspective on workplace dynamics, as well as my perception. I feel as though I look at everything through a lense now, and decide whether it is a situation I should take seriously, use as an opportunity for comedy, or completely leave alone. I also feel as though The Office has prepared me in a small way for handling situations in the workplace the 'right way,' as opposed to the way Michael Scott would handle it. The office has also been the catalyst for many of my own quests for knowledge. Whether it is through the Office Ladies podcast, or the show itself, I find myself wanting to learn more about various topics that interest me. Overall, The Office has clearly impacted me in numerous ways, that I cannot do each one justice. This show has been a huge part of my life growing up, and has helped me get through some hard times. I understand you will get a lot of applications, but I hope mine will stand out in some way, even though I chose the most popular character to write about. Thank you for your consideration, and this money will go a long way towards helping me pursue my dreams just like Jim Halpert. Thank you.

I have known what my calling is since I was 15, and I have been pursuing all channales to achieve this dream. I strive to be a beacon of light wherever I go, and I believe that this is the best way I can be a catalyst for this. My goal is to move to New York City to become a police officer. I plan to travel there because I believe I can make the most difference, where it is most needed. I see how officers behave towards people who they carry prejudice against, and I see a change that needs to be made. I strive to be fair and just towards anyone, no matter what they look like. There is a need that is slowly being met, but I feel I have a part to play in this. This is not just about me, it is about a very real issue in our police forces all over our country. The next generation has a responsibility to make the world better than we found it; this is my calling and I yearn to provide comfort and safety to everybody I encounter, but with a firm goal to keep them safe as well. A big part of law enforcement is keeping people safe, as well as having their trust. With more proactive policing and better communication, this is absolutely attainable. I plan to develop relationships and faith with people who need a police force they can trust. If we can provide an effective and dedicated police force, that also has the communities' support, then that will drastically impact how many crimes are committed, as well as solved. When people trust the police they feel more comfortable communicating with them. This can lead to preventing violent crime, and it can also lead to more people coming forward to help solve past crimes. Providing justice should be the number one goal, but you cannot do that effectively if you don't have trust and backing from the community. Change is made one person at a time, and I believe I can an effective and caring tool for that cause. Even if I do not get this scholarship, that will not stand in the way of my goals, but having your financial and emotional support would dramatically push me closer to my goal of changing the world one person at a time. Given the opportunity I would like to start a charity that funds youth programs for inner city kids, in order to provide them with role models and fun activities to better their emotional and mental health. This program would also hopefully provide resources such as scholarships and financial aid that would allow those who chose to pursue a higher education and achieve their own goals. Thank you for taking the time to read my application, and for considering me as an investment into the future of America.

A large challenge in life came for me at a young age. I was forced to live with the fact, that I had to be at least 5 inches shorter than every single one of my classmates. I do not have a medical condition that led me down this road; however, the pain is still very real. Ever since the first grade, I have been astoundingly short. I had to put up with relentless jokes, persistent bullying, and worst of all, I could not reach even the first shelf in the kitchen. I first realized I was short in my first grade class, with Mrs. Heemer. I would walk around the halls and constantly see people towering over me, that were just one grade above me. One day, during a reading time with the sixth graders, one of the giants mentioned how brutally short I was. They told their friends, and that got both grades laughing at me. This continued with both physical and mental attacks, but nothing I couldn't handle. I ended up getting in two mild altercations, both of which I walked away from as the victor. Eventually, the bullying subsided, but the pain of living with my height remained. I never want anybody to have to deal with physical or emotional abuse, just because of the way they look. My goal is to move to New York City to become a police officer. I plan to travel there because I believe I can make the most difference, where it is most needed. This piece points out the world on the brink of economic collapse, and a society that seems to be against the young generations from the minute they step foot in it. The author wonders why we still have the motivation to propel ourselves into this world, and fully immerse ourselves in it. The audience, however, does not have much to say; we just have a young, determined drive for change. The majority of our generation is not excited to be a part of life because of money, or the lack thereof, we are excited because of experiences. We are ready to experience all that this life has to offer. We want to encounter different cultures, meet interesting people, and try unfamiliar foods. We want to experience happiness, intrigue, and love. Without these things, there would ultimately be no reason for us to venture out. We want to solve the problems that have existed long before us, so that we may provide a safe, enriching environment for the generations to come. We see the issues, and we have a drive to solve them, The Greatest Generation, like us, has made their efforts to make the world a better place. We recognize, that if we want to make real change, it is our turn to take the torch and bring it home.
