My name is Isaiah Hayes. I am 18 years old and a senior at Dumas High School. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing tennis, and traveling whenever I get the opportunity. From a young age, I have always felt a strong desire to help others. Whether it was helping my mom around the house, assisting a friend with homework, or doing small acts of kindness like buying food for someone in need, I have always found purpose in making a difference in people’s lives. These experiences have shaped who I am and have guided me toward a future in the medical field. After high school, I plan to major in biology as the first step toward achieving my goal of becoming a physician assistant. I am particularly interested in dermatology and psychiatry because both fields allow me to help individuals feel more confident and comfortable in their own lives. Dermatology is not just about treating skin conditions—it is about restoring confidence and helping people feel secure in their own appearance. On the other hand, psychiatry focuses on mental health, which is just as important. Many individuals struggle silently with issues such as anxiety, depression, and trauma, and I want to be someone who provides support, understanding, and effective care. Through my chosen career path, I plan to make a positive impact by improving both the physical and mental well-being of my patients. I believe that true health goes beyond what is visible on the outside; it includes emotional and psychological stability as well. By becoming a physician assistant, I will be able to build meaningful relationships with patients, listen to their concerns, and provide care that truly addresses their needs. I want my patients to feel heard, respected, and valued every time they walk into a room with me. In addition to patient care, I hope to give back to underserved communities that may not have easy access to healthcare. Growing up, I have seen how important it is for people to have access to quality medical services, and I want to be part of the solution. Whether it is through volunteering, community outreach, or working in areas with limited resources, I am committed to using my education and skills to serve others. Overall, my goal is to live a life centered around compassion, service, and growth. By pursuing a degree in biology and continuing on to physician assistant school, I am taking the necessary steps to turn my passion for helping others into a lifelong career. I am determined to make a meaningful impact on the world by helping individuals feel confident, supported, and healthy—both physically and mentally.
      Joan Free Thompson Scholarship
I have served, led, and strived for academic excellence throughout my high school experience. After high school I plan to go to college and major in biology to become a Dermatology Physician Assistant. This scholarship would help me achieve my needed education to pursue my dream. Throughout my life, I have watched my family work hard in order to provide me with every opportunity available. They have taught me that hard work and dedication is a must in order to achieve your dreams. I have worked hard and maintained a 4.0 GPA during my high school career. I have also volunteered within my community, been involved with different clubs within my school, and held leadership positions at my school. I wish to further my education in order to make a difference in the lives of those around me and give back to my community. I know that the price of a good education is not cheap. If I am awarded this scholarship, it will reduce the need for me to work throughout college, enabling me to dedicate more time and energy to my education. It would also help fund tuition, textbooks and supplies pertinent to pursuing my education, and it would ease the financial stress allowing me to focus fully on my academic performance. If I am granted the scholarship, I will continue to strive hard to reach my goals and will not let you down!
