Bio

Hi my name is Isabelle Bacote, I got by Izzy most of the time. I'm 17 & a senior at Western Branch High School in Virginia. I graduate in June of 2025. I've had a long journey to be where I am now and can't believe the things I have ahead of me to discover, my goal is to have my own business and be a nail technician in the cosmetology industry. I have been doing nails for 3 years now & love making people smile. Despite my low GPA I think i'm a great candidate because i'm very hard working & when I put my mind to anything that comes to me I achieve it and get it done in a timely manner too. My GPA doesn't define who I am , yes I've had a rough past but with the help of my family and other people who have been around me I've been able to make a change for eternity I'm passionate about my family & making sure that I am on the right path to help me achieve my goals that I am looking forward to in the future. I'm currently in the process of trying to commit to a college but with tuitions being high I don't think I can accomplish all this by myself but with the help of Bold.org I haven't been more confident in myself then ever before. Nevertheless , being able to win a scholarships would be a dream of mine so i can go above and beyond to make a strive to my future wishes would be awesome !

Diabetes is a challenging condition that affects millions of people worldwide, and my mother is one of them. Her experience with diabetes has shaped who she is today, making her a stronger, more disciplined, and health-conscious person. Despite the many obstacles she faces, she refuses to let her condition define her life. Instead, she embraces a lifestyle that prioritizes health and well-being, showing resilience and determination. Her journey with diabetes has not only transformed her but has also impacted me and the way I see my own future. When my mother was first diagnosed with diabetes, it was a difficult transition for her. She had to completely change her eating habits, something that was not easy. Before her diagnosis, she enjoyed eating a wide variety of foods, many of which were not the best for her health. However, once she learned about the dangers of high blood sugar levels and the complications that could arise, she made a conscious decision to change her lifestyle. She started researching the best foods for diabetics, talking with doctors and nutritionists, and using with healthier recipes. Instead of being tempted sugary treats and processed foods, she turned to fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Though the changes were challenging at first, my mother approached them with determination. She never allowed herself to feel defeated, even when temptations came. Instead of seeing her dietary restrictions as bad, she saw them as an opportunity to explore new, healthier options. She learned how to make delicious meals that were both nutritious and enjoyable. Beyond food, my mother also made changes to her overall lifestyle. She became more active, incorporating regular exercise into her daily routine. She started walking every morning and sometimes even joined fitness classes. Her commitment to staying healthy despite her diagnosis showed me the importance of taking care of one’s body. Her determination to maintain her health inspired me to adopt healthier habits as well. Watching her prioritize her well-being has taught me that discipline and self-care are essential components of a good life. My mother’s experience with diabetes has also influenced her mindset. She has become more patient, understanding, and appreciative of life’s small blessings. She knows that managing diabetes is a lifelong journey, and rather than feeling discouraged, she chooses to focus on the positives. She takes every day as an opportunity to improve her health and well-being. This optimistic attitude has shaped her into a role model for me and others who know her. She has taught me that challenges in life should not be seen as roadblocks but as opportunities for growth and self-improvement. Looking ahead, I believe that my mother’s experience with diabetes will continue to impact my own future in lots of ways. Because of her, I have learned the importance of making healthy choices and being aware about my well-being. Additionally, my mother’s resilience has taught me the value of perseverance and stability. Life will always present challenges, but how we respond to them determines our success. My mother could have let diabetes control her life, but instead, she took charge and made the best of her situation. In conclusion, my mother’s journey with diabetes has shaped her into a disciplined, health-conscious, and inspiring individual. Despite the difficulties she faces, she continues to thrive and make the best of her situation. Her experience has not only transformed her but has also influenced the way I see my own future. She has taught me the importance of taking care of my health, being resilient in the face of adversity, and approaching life with a positive mindset!

Throughout my life, my medical conditions, particularly anxiety, have influenced my experiences and personal growth. Living with these challenges has shaped the way I experience daily life, but they have never stopped me from pursuing my dreams. Although I face obstacles, I continue to push forward, determined to achieve my goals. Anxiety has been one of the most challenging conditions to cope with. It has affected my ability to focus, socialize, and sometimes even complete daily tasks. Anxiety has made me doubt myself, overthink situations, and at times, feel overwhelmed by responsibilities. Although instead of letting it take control of my life, I have chosen to actively work on managing it. I have been going to therapy, where I have learned coping strategies that help me navigate stressful situations. While I still deal with anxiety every day, I have made significant progress in handling it better. I remind myself that my condition does not define me, and I refuse to let it stand in the way of my success. Despite these challenges, I have set ambitious goals for my future, and I am determined to achieve them. One of my primary goals is to go to college and complete a business degree, eventually obtaining my master’s degree. I have always had a passion for entrepreneurship, and I want to build a strong educational foundation to support my future plans. Education is important to me because it provides the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the competitive business world. Alongside my academic aspirations, I am also passionate about the beauty industry, particularly nail technology. I am currently working toward completing my required hours for a nail tech program and obtaining my state nail license. This is an essential step in my journey toward becoming a licensed professional in the field. My ultimate dream is to open my own salon, creating a welcoming and inclusive space for clients to come and enjoy. Being able to transform someone’s nails and make them feel confident and beautiful is something that excites me. Owning a salon is more than just a career goal for me—it is a vision of building something meaningful and impactful. I want to create a safe, relaxing environment where clients feel valued and comfortable. A salon should be more than just a place for beauty services; it should be a space where people can unwind, feel confident, and enjoy self-care without judgment. I hope to make a positive and uplifting atmosphere where both clients and employees feel supported and inspired. While the journey to achieving my dreams may not always be easy, I am confident in my ability to overcome the challenges I face. My medical conditions have tested my resilience, but they have also made me stronger too. Through dedication and confidence in myself, I have learned how to manage my health while striving toward my goals. I know there will be obstacles along the way, but I am prepared to face them head-on. I believe that with hard work and determination, I can turn my dreams into reality. Ultimately, my medical conditions have shaped me into the determined and hardworking person I am today. They have taught me patience, self-awareness, and the importance of pushing forward even in difficult times and experiences. Though I still experience anxiety, I refuse to let it define my path. My dream of owning a salon is something I am deeply excited about and I am committed to making it a reality. With continuous effort, education, and perseverance, I know I can achieve my goals and create the future I have always envisioned.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety. Some days, it feels like everything is too much to handle, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t shake that constant feeling of sadness or worry. Even when I’m surrounded by people who care about me, I often feel like I’m completely alone. School used to feel like another challenge on top of everything else. I could barely focus, and sometimes it felt like just getting through the day was an accomplishment. The hardest part of my journey has been learning how to keep going, even when it feels impossible. There have been times when I just wanted to give up, when the weight of everything felt like it was too much to bear. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that my mental health struggles don’t define me. I’ve learned that asking for help is okay and that I don’t have to carry everything on my own. Whether it’s talking to my parents, opening up to a therapist, or taking time for myself, I’ve started to understand that taking care of my mental health is just as important as taking care of my body. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but I know now that healing is possible. These experiences have completely changed the way I look at education. At first, school felt like something I had to get through, and I wasn’t sure if I was even capable of succeeding. But now, I see education as a way to challenge myself and grow. It’s not just about passing tests or getting good grades also it’s about finding the strength to keep going, no matter how tough things get. Education has taught me that resilience isn’t about being perfect; it’s about learning from your mistakes and finding ways to move forward. Because of everything I’ve gone through, I’m passionate about helping others who are struggling with their mental health. I want to use what I’ve learned to break the stigma around mental health and create spaces where people feel safe talking about their feelings. My goal is to use my education to make a positive impact on my community, whether it’s through mental health advocacy, helping others who are struggling, or raising awareness about the importance of mental well-being. I believe that everything I’ve been through has prepared me to help others, and I’m ready to use my experiences to make a difference! Thank you.

Hello My name is Isabelle Bacote I go by Izzy most of the time and I'm writing this to explain furthermore about my education and how I can help others. In the future, my education will be a strong place upon which I can build a meaningful, positive impact on others. I plan to channel my knowledge, skills, and experiences into uplifting others and creating opportunities for growth, success, and empowerment. First, I think using my education to help others overcome barriers to success & whether those barriers financial, personal etc. I’ll pour into the lives of individuals by offering mentorship and guidance, providing the support they need to navigate challenges and find opportunities. By creating safe space for learning, I can help individuals unlock their potential and pursue their dreams with confidence. Next, I want to focus on communities and individuals who may feel overwhelmed or overlooked in traditional educational places. I also believe in the power of personalized learning experiences and am passionate about offering good approaches to education. Whether through tutoring, creating educational things. Still my goal is to give others the tools they need to succeed academically, professionally, and personally. Then, I am deeply committed to teaching people the value of self confidence, empathy, and working together. Through active listening and showing kindness, I will encourage others to believe in their own abilities and support them as they build the skills necessary to apply them in the future. Lastly, I plan to collaborate with organizations that will fit with my values, offering time and other resources to be focused on education, leadership, and people around me. By partnering with others who also believe in this, I think I can use my efforts and contribute to long-term change. Ultimately, my education will allow me to form a future where others can not only succeed but establish where they feel good to shape their lives and the world around them in a positive way. By working together with like-minded individuals and groups, I can also impact others too & help create lasting change. I want to be a person who encourages others to keep going, even when things get tough in all stages of life, I can only hope for the best and keep striving to help myself & others around me! I appreciate you all for reading this, I look forward to hearing from you and see what good is to come. Sincerely and Respectfully, Isabelle Bacote
