Hello! My name is Isabella, and I am working to graduate as a marketing student at Drexel University.
Over the years I lived in Philadelphia, I have loved the city and exploring via Septa or by walking. Having been born here, I admire the diversity and adventures that come with living in Philly.
I find myself on Bold.org as a first-generation college student from a low-income family. My parents came from Mexico to the U.S. and have worked incredibly hard; I do everything I can to help them, knowing their sacrifices are why I am here. By doing my own research and writing, I believe scholarships are what can help me to pursue my dreams without financial strain.
Additionally, one thing that defines me is my love for music. My playlist is like a passport stamped with every genre imaginable, thanks to the different sounds and styles I’ve been exposed to over the years. Whether it is in English, Spanish, French, or other languages, I always keep an open ear and mind.
In short, I am all about learning, growing, and connecting—whether through new experiences, new people, or just a good song! :)

The F.O.O. Scholarship
My dream is to honor where I come from while opening doors for others who start where I did.
I am a first-generation Mexican-American college student and a marketing major at Drexel University. I grew up in a household where sacrifice was constant, money was tight, and education was treated as our greatest hope for a better future.
My parents immigrated to the United States from Mexico with nothing but determination. My father worked long hours and my mother raised my brother and me while navigating life in a new country and language. Neither of them had the opportunity to attend college, yet they always believed that their children would. Watching their resilience shaped my own.
One of my biggest challenges was growing up bilingual. At school, I struggled to express myself in English, and at times I felt behind my peers. Still, my mother sat beside me night after night, helping me with homework even as she learned alongside me. Through after-school writing programs and constant encouragement, I found my voice—and eventually, my confidence.
Today, my passion is marketing because it blends creativity, communication, and impact. I currently work and stay involved in programs that serve youth and community-based organizations, and I hope to one day use my marketing skills to uplift small businesses and underrepresented communities like my own. My aspiration is to build a career rooted not only in success, but in service.
This scholarship would directly support my education while easing the financial pressure my family continues to face. It would help me stay focused on my dreams without the constant fear due to circumstances beyond my control. Personally, it would affirm that my journey matters. Professionally, it would bring me one step closer to becoming a voice for communities that are too often unheard.
