My name is Isabella (Bella) Wedemeyer and I am a senior at Oxnard High School passionate about research and patient care, looking to pursue a major in Neuroscience and attend Medical School in the future. I hope to become a Neurologist specializing in the treatment of neurodegenerative conditions, uncovering the molecular interactions characterizing these disorders in my own lab! I devote much of my time to service both in and outside of the hospital setting! At my local hospital I have served as a student intern in the past, and currently spend time as both an ICU volunteer and Neurosurgery shadow. Outside of the hospital, I am involved in multiple service-leadership organizations, including CNH Key Club, National Honor Society, and Oxnard Eco Mindfulness Club. I enjoy bonding with and serving my community, whether through simple conversation or meaningful service! Outside of these activities, I enjoy crocheting, exploring nature with friends, and engaging in friendly debates with my family! I love learning about new subjects, whether through exhibits at local museums, or research papers online. Although I'm passionate about medicine, I'm extremely interested in politics (especially Latin American), history, and Spanish language! Wherever I study, I hope to pursue a minor in one of these subjects alongside my major! Education is of the utmost importance to me, especially as the daughter of a Costa Rican immigrant who only had access to a high school education. I'm determined to catalyze my mother's sacrifice into a meaningful career full of service and care!
