I have always had a healthy planned out life, until my junior year. That is when my life took an unexpected turn. I grew increasingly ill over several months and was admitted to the Children’s Hospital in Colorado Springs, where I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. This stay at Children’s Hospital and the nursing team who took care of me were pivotal, not only in how I saw myself and moved forward with this diagnosis, but also with realizing my true calling in healthcare.
