I strive to embody a life of service in everything I do, both personally and professionally. For me, service is not just an occasional act of kindness—it is a mindset and a commitment to using my abilities, education, and experiences to uplift others. I believe that true success is measured not only by personal achievements, but by the positive impact we have on the lives of those around us. This belief shapes my goals, my work, and the way I carry myself each day. Through my education, I am gaining the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful difference. I see education as more than just a way to build a career—it is a tool that allows me to create opportunities, provide guidance, and inspire others. Working in admissions has already shown me how powerful education can be. I have the privilege of helping individuals take steps toward improving their lives, and that responsibility has strengthened my desire to continue serving others in a larger capacity. One of the ways I embody a life of service is by supporting people during important transitions in their lives. Many of the individuals I work with are uncertain, nervous, or unsure of their path. Being able to guide them, encourage them, and help them see their potential is incredibly meaningful to me. I take pride in being someone who listens, understands, and provides honest support. I want others to feel empowered and confident in their decisions, knowing that someone believes in them. My background in cosmetology has also played a role in shaping my commitment to service. In the beauty industry, helping others feel confident and comfortable in their own skin is a powerful form of service. Through my cosmetology teachers program, I discovered a deeper passion for education and mentorship. I realized that I could use my skills not only to provide services, but to teach and inspire others to build their own careers. This experience has influenced my long-term goal of opening my own cosmetology school, where I can create a supportive and empowering environment for future professionals. In the future, I plan to use my education to continue making a difference in the lives of others. Whether I am working in admissions, teaching, or leading my own business, my focus will always be on helping people grow and succeed. I want to create opportunities for those who may feel overlooked or unsure of their abilities. I understand that sometimes all a person needs is guidance, encouragement, and access to the right resources to completely change their life. Living a life of service also means leading with integrity, compassion, and purpose. I am committed to staying true to my values and using my education in a way that reflects those principles. I want to be someone who not only achieves personal success but also creates a ripple effect of positivity and growth in my community. In conclusion, embodying a life of service is at the core of who I am and who I strive to become. My education is not just for me—it is a tool I will use to help others, create opportunities, and make a lasting impact. By staying dedicated to this purpose, I am confident that I will continue to grow while also helping others do the same.

I believe in growth, resilience, and staying true to my values, and these beliefs guide the way I approach every opportunity and challenge in my life. I enjoy building relationships and helping others see their potential, especially when they may not see it in themselves. In addition to my work in admissions, I have a strong foundation in cosmetology. I earned my cosmetology license in high school and continued my education by completing a cosmetology teachers program. This experience helped me discover my passion not only for beauty, but for education and leadership. It gave me direction and clarity about what I want in my future. I now aspire to open my own cosmetology school one day, where I can create an environment that inspires, supports, and empowers others to succeed. I am also someone who values hard work and determination. I am currently continuing my education and working toward transferring to a larger university, making smart decisions to build my future while being mindful of financial responsibility. I understand that success does not come overnight, and I am willing to put in the effort, time, and dedication it takes to achieve my goals. Dream BIG, Rise HIGHER Scholarship
Enrolling in the cosmetology teachers program was one of the most defining decisions I have made in shaping my future. This program truly helped me to discover my purpose. What began as a step to further my education quickly became a turning point that gave me clarity, purpose, and a strong sense of direction for my career. Through this program, I not only developed advanced technical and teaching skills, but I also discovered my passion for guiding others. It opened my eyes to the possibility of combining my love for cosmetology with leadership and education, ultimately inspiring my long-term goal of opening my own cosmetology school. Before entering the program, I already had a strong foundation in cosmetology and a passion for the beauty industry. I enjoyed working with clients, helping them feel confident, and expressing creativity through my work. However, I often found myself questioning what my next step should be. I knew I wanted more than just a job—I wanted a career that was meaningful, stable, and impactful. The cosmetology teachers program gave me exactly that. It introduced me to a new side of the industry that I had not fully explored before: education. Throughout the program, I learned how to effectively teach, mentor, and support students who were just beginning their journeys in cosmetology. I developed skills in lesson planning, communication, classroom management, and evaluation. These skills not only made me more confident in my abilities, but they also showed me how powerful education can be. Watching students grow, gain confidence, and develop their skills reminded me why I fell in love with cosmetology in the first place. It was no longer just about doing hair or beauty services—it became about making a lasting impact on others. One of the most valuable aspects of the program was the sense of responsibility it gave me. As a future educator, I realized that I would be shaping not only students’ technical abilities but also their mindset, professionalism, and confidence. This responsibility pushed me to become more disciplined, organized, and intentional in everything I did. It also helped me understand the importance of leadership and how a strong, supportive environment can influence a student’s success. The program also helped me discover my long-term vision. Through my experiences, I began to see myself not just as a cosmetologist or even just a teacher, but as a leader in the industry. I started to envision creating a space where students could feel supported, inspired, and prepared for real-world success. This vision led me to set a goal of opening my own cosmetology school one day. I want to create an environment that goes beyond teaching technical skills—I want to focus on personal growth, confidence building, and career readiness. Opening my own cosmetology school represents more than just a business goal; it represents my desire to give back and create opportunities for others. I want to provide students with the same sense of direction and purpose that I gained through my teachers program. I understand how overwhelming it can feel to not know your path, and I want to be someone who helps others find theirs. By creating a supportive and empowering learning environment, I hope to inspire students to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams with confidence. Additionally, the program taught me the importance of professionalism and ethics in the beauty industry. It reinforced the idea that success is not just about talent, but also about integrity, work ethic, and the ability to connect with others. These lessons have shaped how I approach my career and how I plan to run my future school. I want to build a business that reflects strong values, high standards, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed. I carry the lessons and experiences from the cosmetology teachers program with me. It has given me a clear direction, a sense of purpose, and a vision for the future. I am no longer uncertain about what I want—I am motivated and focused on achieving my goals. In conclusion, the cosmetology teachers program played a crucial role in helping me discover my career path and long-term aspirations. It transformed my passion into a purpose and gave me the confidence to pursue a bigger vision. Through this experience, I found not only direction, but also a calling to educate, lead, and inspire. One day, I hope to open my own cosmetology school and create a lasting impact on the next generation of beauty professionals, just as this program has done for me.
    Arthur and Elana Panos Scholarship
My journey to becoming the best version of myself has been deeply shaped by my faith in God. Through every challenge, decision, and moment of growth—especially in my career and in business—God has been my foundation. He has guided me not only toward success, but toward becoming a person of integrity, strength, and purpose. I truly believe that without Him, I would not be where I am today. In business, it can be easy to get caught up in pressure, competition, and the desire to succeed quickly. There are moments when cutting corners or compromising values may seem like the easier path. However, my faith has always reminded me that true success is not just about results—it is about how you achieve them. God has instilled in me a strong sense of right and wrong, and that has allowed me to stand firm in my morals, even when it is difficult. I have learned that doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, brings a deeper sense of fulfillment than any shortcut ever could. There have been times when I felt uncertain about my path, especially when facing obstacles or setbacks. In those moments, I turned to God for guidance and strength. Through prayer and reflection, I found clarity and peace, even when things didn’t go as planned. God has taught me patience and trust—reminding me that everything happens for a reason and that my journey is unfolding exactly as it should. This has helped me stay grounded and focused, rather than discouraged or overwhelmed. Working in admissions and pursuing my goals in business, I strive to reflect the values that God has placed on my heart. I treat people with kindness, honesty, and respect, understanding that every interaction matters. I am not just building a career—I am building a reputation and a purpose-driven life. My faith reminds me that success is not just about personal gain, but about helping others, uplifting those around me, and making a positive impact. One of the most important lessons God has taught me is to never compromise who I am. In a world where it is easy to follow trends or give in to external pressure, I have learned to stay true to my values. Whether it is being honest in my work, treating others fairly, or making decisions that align with my beliefs, I know that maintaining my integrity is essential. God has given me the strength to walk away from situations that do not align with my morals, even when it is not the easiest choice. As I continue to grow, I see God as my constant guide. He continues to shape me into a stronger, more confident, and more compassionate individual. I know that the best version of myself is still evolving, but with God leading me, I am confident that I will continue to grow in the right direction. In conclusion, my faith has been the cornerstone of my personal and professional development. God has helped me become the best version of myself by guiding my decisions, strengthening my character, and reminding me to never compromise my morals. Through Him, I have found purpose, direction, and the courage to succeed while staying true to who I am.
    Future Green Leaders Scholarship
Sustainability should be a priority in business because it directly impacts the long-term health of our environment, economy, and society. In today’s world, businesses are no longer judged solely by profit, but also by how responsibly they operate. Climate change, pollution, and resource depletion are urgent global challenges, and companies play a major role in either contributing to or helping solve these issues. By prioritizing sustainability, businesses can reduce their environmental footprint, build trust with consumers, and ensure their operations remain viable for future generations. One of the main reasons sustainability is essential is that natural resources are limited. Businesses rely heavily on materials such as water, energy, and raw goods, but overconsumption can lead to scarcity and environmental damage. When companies adopt sustainable practices—like reducing waste, conserving energy, and sourcing materials responsibly—they help preserve these resources. This not only benefits the planet but also protects the business itself from future supply shortages and rising costs. Additionally, consumers today are more environmentally conscious than ever before. People want to support companies that align with their values, and sustainability has become a key factor in purchasing decisions. Businesses that demonstrate a commitment to eco-friendly practices often gain a competitive advantage. They build stronger relationships with customers, enhance their brand image, and create loyalty that goes beyond just the product or service they offer. On the other hand, companies that ignore sustainability risk losing credibility and relevance in an increasingly aware marketplace. Sustainability also promotes innovation. When businesses challenge themselves to reduce their environmental impact, they often develop new technologies, processes, and ideas that improve efficiency and reduce costs. For example, switching to renewable energy sources or implementing recycling programs can lower expenses over time while benefiting the environment. This forward-thinking approach allows companies to stay competitive while contributing to a healthier planet. As I look toward my future, I see myself playing an active role in promoting sustainability within the business world. Working in admissions has already taught me the importance of communication, education, and influence. I plan to use these skills to raise awareness about environmentally responsible practices, both within organizations and in the communities I serve. Whether I am guiding students, working in a corporate environment, or leading a team, I want to advocate for choices that reduce waste and promote sustainability. I also see myself encouraging others to think long-term. Small actions—like reducing paper usage, promoting digital solutions, and supporting sustainable programs—can make a significant difference when implemented consistently. I want to be someone who leads by example, showing that sustainability is not just a trend but a responsibility. Furthermore, I hope to be involved in initiatives that connect education and sustainability. By helping students understand the importance of environmental responsibility early on, I can contribute to shaping a future workforce that values and prioritizes sustainable practices. Education is a powerful tool for change, and I want to be part of that transformation. In conclusion, sustainability is essential for the success and responsibility of modern businesses. It protects resources, builds trust, and drives innovation. In my future, I see myself using my skills and experiences to promote sustainable practices, reduce environmental impact, and inspire others to do the same. By taking these steps, I hope to contribute to a more sustainable and responsible world.
Jeannine Schroeder Women in Public Service Memorial Scholarship
Working in admissions has given me a unique perspective on one of the most important social issues today: access to education. Every day, I interact with individuals from different backgrounds, ages, and life circumstances who are all seeking the same thing—an opportunity to improve their lives. Through my role, I don’t just help students enroll in school; I help break down barriers that have historically prevented people from achieving their goals. This makes my work not just a job, but a meaningful contribution to addressing inequality in education. One of the biggest social issues tied to education is accessibility. Many people believe that college or technical training is out of reach due to financial struggles, lack of support, or self-doubt. As an admissions representative, I am often the first point of contact for these individuals. I have the ability to change their perspective by providing clear information, encouragement, and guidance. When someone says, “I don’t think I can do this,” I get the chance to show them that they can. That moment is powerful because it can shift the direction of their entire life. Another major issue I address through my work is the lack of awareness about educational opportunities. Many prospective students simply don’t know what programs exist, how financial aid works, or what steps to take to get started. By traveling to high schools, attending community events, and speaking directly with potential students, I help bridge that information gap. I make education feel more attainable and less intimidating. This outreach is especially important for first-generation students who may not have family members to guide them through the process. My role also allows me to support non-traditional students—people who are older, changing careers, or returning to school after many years. Society often places limits on when and how someone should pursue education, but I get to challenge those ideas every day. Encouraging a 40-, 50-, or even 60-year-old to take that leap into education helps combat age-related stereotypes and promotes lifelong learning. This contributes to a more inclusive and empowered society. Additionally, I help students navigate financial concerns, which are one of the biggest barriers to education. By working closely with financial aid and explaining options clearly, I help students understand that there are resources available to them. When students realize that education can be financially manageable, it removes a major obstacle and allows them to focus on their future rather than their fears. Ultimately, working in admissions allows me to be part of something bigger than myself. I am helping individuals gain skills, confidence, and independence, which in turn strengthens communities. Education has a ripple effect—when one person succeeds, it can uplift families and inspire others to follow the same path. In conclusion, my work in admissions directly addresses the social issue of educational inequality. By providing access, information, encouragement, and support, I help open doors for people who may have otherwise felt those doors were closed. It is incredibly rewarding to know that my daily efforts contribute to creating a more equitable and opportunity-filled world.
    Wicked Fan Scholarship
The story of Wicked has always been one of my favorite pieces of theatre and film because of the powerful messages it carries about friendship, identity, and understanding others beyond first impressions. Both the stage production and the movie adaptation left a lasting impression on me. What I love most about Wicked is the way it tells the story of characters we thought we already knew and completely changes the perspective. Instead of simply portraying good and evil, the story shows how complicated people and situations can really be. One of the most meaningful parts of Wicked is the relationship between the two main characters, Elphaba and Glinda. At the beginning of the story, they seem like complete opposites. Elphaba is misunderstood and judged because of her green skin, while Glinda appears popular, confident, and admired by everyone. However, as the story unfolds, their friendship grows in a way that feels genuine and emotional. Watching their relationship develop shows how people who seem very different can still form deep connections and learn from each other. The music is another reason why I love Wicked so much. Songs like Defying Gravity and For Good are incredibly powerful and emotional. “Defying Gravity” represents standing up for what you believe in and refusing to let others define who you are. It is a moment of courage and independence that resonates with many people. “For Good,” on the other hand, highlights the lasting impact people can have on each other’s lives. It reminds us that relationships can change us in ways we may not always expect. The movie version, Wicked, brought the story to life in a new and exciting way. Seeing the world of Oz visually expanded through film made the story feel even more magical. The costumes, sets, and visual effects added another layer of beauty to a story that was already so meaningful on stage. At the same time, the film stayed true to the emotional core that made the musical so beloved. Another reason I admire Wicked is because of the themes it explores. The story encourages audiences to question stereotypes and consider how easily people can be misunderstood. Elphaba is labeled as “wicked,” but the story shows that she is actually someone who cares deeply about justice and doing what is right. This message is important because it reminds us not to judge others too quickly. Overall, my love for Wicked comes from the combination of its powerful story, unforgettable music, and meaningful themes. Both the play and the movie create an experience that is emotional, inspiring, and memorable. It is a story that encourages people to embrace who they are, value friendship, and stand up for what they believe in, which is why it continues to resonate with me.
    Autumn Davis Memorial Scholarship
Building a successful career requires dedication, vision, and a clear sense of purpose. For me, my goal is to build my life in the field of business admissions, where I can combine my passion for business with my desire to help others pursue their educational goals. I believe that admissions is more than simply reviewing applications; it is about guiding students toward opportunities that can shape their futures. Through a career in admissions, I hope to make a meaningful impact by helping individuals find the right paths for their personal and professional growth Business has always interested me because it requires strategic thinking, leadership, and the ability to connect with people from different backgrounds. I enjoy the challenge of solving problems, organizing ideas, and helping systems run smoothly. Admissions allows these skills to come together in a way that directly affects the lives of others. Every student has a story, and being part of the process that helps them reach their educational goals is both meaningful and rewarding. One of the reasons I am drawn to admissions within the business field is because education has the power to open doors. Many students work incredibly hard to achieve their dreams but may need guidance navigating the application process or understanding their options. I want to be someone who helps make that process clearer and more encouraging. By supporting prospective students and helping them understand their opportunities, I hope to play a small but important role in their journeys toward success. In addition, I believe that strong communication and organization are essential qualities in the admissions field. I enjoy working with people, answering questions, and helping individuals feel more confident about their decisions. Admissions professionals must balance many responsibilities, from reviewing applications to coordinating with other departments and communicating with students. These challenges require patience, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically. I am excited by the idea of developing these skills while contributing to a system that helps students move forward in their education. Another important aspect of admissions that appeals to me is the opportunity to promote fairness and opportunity. Every applicant deserves to be considered thoughtfully and respectfully. I value honesty, integrity, and empathy, and I believe these qualities are essential when working in a role that helps shape educational opportunities for others. By approaching admissions with fairness and understanding, I hope to ensure that each student feels respected throughout the process. Building my life in business admissions also means continuing to grow and learn. The field of education is constantly evolving, and staying informed about new programs, technologies, and student needs will be important throughout my career. I am motivated to continue developing my skills so that I can better support both institutions and the students they serve. Ultimately, my goal is to build a career that combines professional success with meaningful impact. Working in business admissions would allow me to use my organizational abilities, communication skills, and passion for helping others in a way that makes a difference. By guiding students through an important step in their educational journeys, I hope to contribute to a future where more individuals have the opportunity to pursue their ambitions and build successful lives of their own.
    Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Math has always been one of the subjects that I enjoy the most because it challenges my mind and pushes me to think in new ways. I love the feeling of solving a problem and finally understanding how all of the pieces fit together. Unlike many other subjects, math often has a clear answer, and there is something very satisfying about working through the steps and arriving at the correct solution. Every problem feels like a puzzle, and I enjoy the process of figuring it out. One of the reasons I love math is because it teaches problem-solving skills that can be used in everyday life. Math requires patience, focus, and logical thinking. Sometimes a problem may seem confusing at first, but when I break it down step by step, it becomes easier to understand. This process has helped me learn how to stay calm and persistent when facing challenges. Instead of giving up, I try different methods until I find the solution. Math also builds confidence. When I solve a difficult problem, it reminds me that I am capable of learning complex ideas and improving my skills through practice. Even when I make mistakes, I see them as opportunities to learn rather than failures. Each mistake helps me understand the material better and prepares me for the next challenge. Another reason I appreciate math is because of how it connects to the real world. Math is used in business, science, technology, and many other fields. It helps people make important decisions, solve real problems, and understand patterns in the world around us. Knowing that math plays such an important role in everyday life makes learning it feel meaningful and valuable. Overall, my love for math comes from the challenge, the satisfaction of finding solutions, and the skills it helps me develop. Math encourages me to think critically, stay determined, and continue learning. It is a subject that keeps my mind active and reminds me that with patience and effort, even the most difficult problems can be solved.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
Personal values and mental health play a vital role in shaping who we are, how we treat others, and how we approach our goals in life. For me, these two things are deeply connected and influence both my personal life and my aspirations within business. I believe that success is not only measured by achievements or financial gain, but also by maintaining integrity, balance, and a healthy mindset. Prioritizing my values and mental well-being allows me to stay grounded, make thoughtful decisions, and build meaningful relationships in both my career and everyday life. My values guide the way I interact with others and the choices I make. I believe strongly in honesty, respect, responsibility, and compassion. These principles help me stay true to who I am, even when faced with challenges or difficult situations. In business, values are especially important because they create trust and credibility. When people know that you are dependable and that you operate with integrity, it builds stronger relationships and lasting connections. I want to be someone who others can rely on, whether that is in a professional environment, in school, or in my personal life. Mental health is equally important to me because it affects how I think, feel, and respond to the world around me. Life can be stressful, especially when balancing responsibilities, goals, and expectations. Taking care of my mental health allows me to remain focused, motivated, and resilient. When my mental well-being is strong, I am better able to handle challenges, adapt to change, and continue moving forward even during difficult times. In the business world, maintaining mental health is often overlooked, yet it is a key factor in long-term success. Burnout, stress, and pressure can negatively impact decision-making and productivity. I believe that a healthy mind leads to better leadership, clearer thinking, and stronger problem-solving abilities. When individuals take care of their mental well-being, they are more capable of performing at their best and supporting the people around them. My values and mental health also influence how I hope to lead and interact with others in a professional environment. I believe in creating spaces where people feel respected, supported, and understood. A positive and healthy work environment encourages creativity, collaboration, and growth. As someone who values empathy and understanding, I want to contribute to environments where people feel comfortable being themselves and where mental well-being is treated as a priority rather than an afterthought. Outside of business, my values and mental health shape the way I live my life each day. They remind me to slow down, appreciate the present moment, and maintain balance between ambition and self-care. While achieving goals and working hard are important, I also recognize that taking care of my emotional and mental well-being allows me to live a fuller and more meaningful life. Overall, my values and mental health serve as the foundation for both my personal growth and my professional aspirations. They help guide my decisions, strengthen my resilience, and remind me of what truly matters. By prioritizing these aspects of my life, I strive to build a future that is not only successful, but also balanced, ethical, and fulfilling.
    Love Island Fan Scholarship
A brand-new Love Island challenge idea could be called “Truth or Twist: The Chemistry Test.” This challenge is designed to create excitement, reveal hidden feelings, and test how strong each couple really is. It combines flirtation, honesty, temptation, and drama, which are all the things that make Love Island so entertaining to watch. The point of the game is to see whether islanders truly know their partners, whether they are loyal under pressure, and whether there are any secret connections in the villa that have not fully come to light yet. The challenge would begin with all of the islanders gathered around a large setup in the center of the villa. There would be a colorful spinning wheel divided into sections labeled with different categories such as “Truth,” “Twist,” “Temptation,” “Reveal,” and “Risk.” Each islander would take turns spinning the wheel. Wherever it lands determines what they have to do. The real fun of the game comes from the fact that every section is designed to stir emotions and test relationships. If the wheel lands on Truth, the islander has to answer a bold question honestly in front of everyone. These questions would be focused on attraction, loyalty, and feelings. For example, they might be asked who in the villa they would couple up with if their current partner were not an option, who they think is the most genuine, or whether they are fully satisfied in their current couple. This part would immediately create tension because people would have to say things out loud that they may normally keep private. If it lands on Twist, the islander has to complete a challenge involving someone other than their current partner. For example, they may have to reenact their perfect first date with another islander, feed someone chocolates while maintaining eye contact, or do a short dance meant to impress a randomly selected person. This section would create jealousy, awkward laughs, and new sparks. It would force islanders to step outside their comfort zones while making everyone wonder if chemistry exists where they did not expect it. If the wheel lands on Temptation, the islander is offered a choice. They can either stay loyal and earn points for their couple, or they can choose a tempting villa reward such as a private chat with the person they find most attractive, even if it is not their partner. This part adds real strategy to the game because it shows what matters more to each person: immediate excitement or commitment to their current couple. If it lands on Reveal, the host announces a secret result gathered from questions the islanders answered privately before the challenge began. For instance, the group could learn who was voted the best kisser, who has the strongest couple, who is seen as most likely to have their head turned, or which islander received the most secret crush votes. This would instantly stir up drama because private opinions would suddenly become public. Finally, if the wheel lands on Risk, the islander can choose to take a risky dare for the chance to win immunity for their couple in the next recoupling twist. The dare might involve giving a speech about who they trust least, kissing the person they think they have the strongest chemistry with, or ranking the couples from strongest to weakest.
    Christian Fitness Association General Scholarship
Education has always been one of the most important paths for me to build a better future. Receiving this scholarship would truly help me achieve my goals and continue the journey I have worked so hard to pursue. Throughout my life, I have learned the value of perseverance, hard work, and dedication, especially through the challenges my family and I have faced. This scholarship would not only help support my education financially, but it would also bring me one step closer to building the life and career I have always envisioned. My journey toward my career began early. While I was still in high school, I worked hard to earn my cosmetology license. Achieving that goal taught me discipline and showed me that with determination, I could accomplish meaningful things even at a young age. Cosmetology allowed me to develop creativity, professionalism, and confidence while working with others. It also showed me how powerful it can be to help people feel good about themselves. Being able to use my skills to make someone feel more confident or happy is one of the most rewarding parts of the work. After graduating high school, I decided to continue building on my education and passion for the beauty industry by attending the TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy to pursue my cosmetology teacher’s license. I wanted to expand my knowledge and eventually have the opportunity to share my skills with others who are interested in entering the field. Teaching cosmetology allows professionals to pass down techniques, creativity, and encouragement to the next generation. For me, that opportunity to inspire others is something I deeply value. Currently, I am attending community college and working hard to earn as many credits as possible that will transfer to Penn State. This path allows me to continue my education while being financially responsible and saving as much money as possible before transferring. I believe strongly in making smart decisions about my education, and starting at community college has allowed me to focus on building a strong academic foundation. My ultimate goal is to transfer to Penn State and continue pursuing my education while preparing myself for a successful future. Although I have worked hard to reach this point, my journey has not been without personal challenges. When I was eleven years old, my father passed away from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Losing my father at such a young age was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. ALS is a devastating disease that slowly takes away a person’s ability to move, speak, and eventually breathe. Watching someone you love go through that process is incredibly painful, and it is something that changed my life forever. Even though I was young, I remember the strength my father showed during his illness. His courage and determination left a lasting impact on me. Losing him was heartbreaking, and I still miss him every day. However, his memory continues to motivate me to work hard and pursue my goals. I want to build a life that would make him proud and show that the challenges my family faced only made me stronger. The experience also taught me the importance of appreciating every moment and never taking opportunities for granted. My mother and I had to learn how to move forward after such a difficult loss, and through that process I developed resilience and determination. Those qualities have helped guide me throughout my education and career goals. Receiving this scholarship would mean so much to me because it would help relieve some of the financial stress that comes with continuing my education. College is a significant investment, and while I am doing everything I can to save money by attending community college first, the cost of further education can still be overwhelming. This scholarship would allow me to focus more on my studies and less on financial concerns while continuing to work toward transferring to Penn State. More importantly, this scholarship would represent support and belief in my goals. It would encourage me to keep pushing forward and remind me that my hard work and dedication are recognized. I am committed to continuing my education, expanding my skills, and building a career that allows me to make a positive impact on others. In the future, I hope to use everything I have learned to build a stable and fulfilling life. Whether through cosmetology, teaching, or business opportunities within the beauty industry, I want to continue growing professionally while helping others feel confident and inspired. Receiving this scholarship would bring me closer to that future and help me continue the path I have worked so hard to follow. Most importantly, I carry my father’s memory with me in everything I do. His strength inspires me to keep moving forward, and I hope to honor him by making the most of every opportunity I am given. This scholarship would not only support my education but also help me continue building a future that reflects the perseverance, determination, and hope that have shaped my life.

Through a career in admissions, I hope to make a meaningful impact by helping individuals find the right paths for their personal and professional growth.Business has always interested me because it requires strategic thinking, leadership, and the ability to connect with people from different backgrounds. Building my life in business admissions also means continuing to grow and learn and I am motivated to continue developing my skills so that I can better support both institutions and the students they serve. Ultimately, my goal is to build a career that combines professional success with meaningful impact. Working in business admissions would allow me to use my organizational abilities, communication skills, and passion for helping others in a way that makes a difference.

    Strong Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship
Strength is not only measured by physical ability or loud confidence. True strength comes from perseverance, compassion, and the ability to keep moving forward even when life presents difficult challenges. As a woman, I have learned that being strong means believing in myself, supporting others, and leading with both determination and empathy. These qualities have helped shape me into the person and leader I strive to be every day. Being a strong woman means standing firm in my values while remaining open to learning and growth. Throughout my life, I have faced situations that required resilience and patience. Challenges have taught me that strength is not about never struggling—it is about continuing to move forward despite those struggles. I have learned how to adapt, work hard, and remain focused on my goals even when the path ahead is uncertain. Each obstacle has helped me grow stronger, more confident, and more prepared to face whatever comes next. Leadership, to me, is not about being the loudest person in the room or always being in charge. True leadership is about guiding others, offering support, and creating an environment where people feel encouraged and valued. I believe that a good leader listens carefully, understands different perspectives, and works to bring people together. I try to lead by example through my actions, showing others that dedication, kindness, and responsibility can make a real difference. One of the qualities that makes me a leader is my determination. When I set a goal for myself, I commit fully to achieving it. I understand that success rarely happens overnight, and I am willing to put in the effort, time, and perseverance needed to reach my goals. This determination helps me stay motivated and also inspires those around me to continue pushing forward in their own pursuits. Another important part of my leadership is my ability to support others. I believe that lifting people up is one of the most powerful things a person can do. Whether it is helping someone understand a difficult concept, encouraging a friend who is struggling, or simply being someone, others can rely on, I try to be a positive influence in the lives of those around me. A strong leader recognizes that success is not only about personal achievement, but also about helping others succeed. Confidence also plays a key role in my strength as a woman and a leader. Confidence does not mean believing that I have all the answers. Instead, it means trusting in my abilities and having the courage to take on new challenges. It allows me to step outside of my comfort zone, take initiative, and pursue opportunities that help me grow. Being a strong woman and a leader means using my voice, my experiences, and my determination to make a positive impact. I strive to lead with integrity, compassion, and resilience, knowing that true leadership is about serving others as much as it is about personal growth. Every day, I continue working to become a better version of myself so that I can inspire others and contribute positively to the communities I am a part of.
Joseph A. Terbrack ALS Memorial Scholarship
ALS is a devastating disease that slowly takes away a person’s ability to move, speak, and eventually breathe. Watching someone you love go through that process is one of the most painful experiences a family can face. For me, that experience was very personal. My father battled ALS, and throughout that time I saw firsthand how cruel and relentless the disease can be. It does not only affect the person diagnosed—it affects every member of the family who must watch their loved one gradually lose the abilities they once had. Over time, ALS forces you to witness the slow progression of decline, and in many ways it feels like you are slowly watching someone die while being unable to stop it. In the beginning, the changes were small. Simple movements became harder for my father, and everyday tasks that once seemed effortless required assistance. As the disease progressed, those small changes turned into major challenges. ALS attacks the nerve cells that control muscles, and eventually those muscles stop working altogether. Watching my father lose the ability to do the things he once loved was heartbreaking. It was difficult for our entire family, but especially for my mother and me, as we were there every day supporting him and trying to make his life as comfortable as possible. Although it was incredibly painful, the experience also taught me important lessons about resilience, compassion, and gratitude. When someone you love is facing a disease like ALS, you begin to appreciate the small moments in life that are often taken for granted. Simple things—like conversations, laughter, or even just spending time together—become incredibly meaningful. My father’s strength throughout his illness inspired me and showed me how important it is to cherish every moment with the people you love. During this difficult time, organizations dedicated to ALS research and support played an important role in helping families like ours. The ALS Association provided resources, equipment, and support that made a difference in my father’s care. In fact, my father even participated in a demonstration video for a machine that had just been introduced at the time to help patients living with ALS. Seeing him contribute to something that could potentially help others facing the same disease meant a lot to our family. Even though he was battling such a difficult illness, he was still helping others. After my father passed away, my mother and I wanted to give back in any way we could. We donated medical equipment and supplies that we no longer needed to the ALS Association so that other families going through the same experience could benefit from them. It felt important to us that something positive could come from such a painful chapter in our lives. Knowing that these items could help another patient or family made the loss feel slightly less heavy and allowed us to continue honoring my father’s memory. Living through this experience was extremely difficult, but it shaped who I am today. It taught me empathy, patience, and the importance of appreciating life’s smallest moments. It also strengthened my desire to pursue my goals and build a future that my father would be proud of. Receiving this scholarship would truly mean so much to me. It would not only help ease the financial burden of my education, but it would also allow me to pursue the goals I have always aspired to reach. More importantly, it would help me build a stable and comfortable life while carrying forward the lessons my father’s journey taught me.

Losing my dad to ALS was like watching the strongest person I knew slowly fade, even as his love for us stayed bright and steady. There are moments that shaped me, moments that broke me, and moments that taught me what love looks like when everything else is taken away. Even now, I carry him with me in ways I never fully understood until he was gone. This essay is both a memory and a promise—an attempt to hold on to him through the only thing I have left: my words. ALS didn’t take my dad all at once. It came in small, cruel steps—first a stumble, then a weakening grip, then words that took longer to form. At first, I didn’t want to believe what was happening. I kept hoping the doctors were wrong, that maybe it was something else, something curable. But my dad faced it with a calmness I couldn’t understand. He talked about making the most of the time he had, about choosing joy where he could. I didn’t realize it then, but he was teaching me how to face the impossible with grace. As his body weakened, his spirit didn’t. Even when he couldn’t move easily, he still smiled when I walked into the room. Even when speaking became difficult, his eyes told me everything I needed to know: that he loved me, that he was proud of me, and that he was still fighting to stay present for as long as he could. Watching him lose piece after piece of himself was heartbreaking, yet it also showed me what real strength looks like. It’s not in muscles or in how loud you speak. It’s in how deeply you love, even when life becomes unfair. Loosing my father help me to realize how precious life really is, and to appreciate all moments with your loved ones no matter what. After he died, the silence felt heavier than any words I could ever write. I missed his voice, his laugh, the way he always made me feel safe. I missed the simplicity of just having him in the world. Grief felt like a shadow that followed me everywhere—some days small, some days overwhelming. Yet in the middle of that pain, I also felt something else: the quiet, constant presence of everything he gave me. I carry his lessons in the way I face challenges. I carry his kindness in the way I treat others. I carry his love every single day, even when it hurts that he isn’t here to see who I’m becoming. Missing him has become part of who I am. It’s not a wound that fully heals; it’s a part of my heart that will always ache, but also always remind me of how lucky I was to be his child. If he were here, he would tell me to keep going, to live fully, to love deeply. He never wanted his illness to define our lives, even though it changed everything. So I try to honor him not just by remembering him, but by living in a way that reflects the best parts of who he was. I love him with a depth that words can only begin to capture. I miss him in ways that are both sharp and gentle, both painful and comforting. But most of all, I am grateful. Grateful for the time we had, for the love he gave, and for the part of him that will always be in me. My dad may be gone, but he is not lost. He lives in my memories, in my dreams, and in the person I continue to become. And as long as I carry him with me, he is still here.

My Father figure is my dad. My dad passed in 2016 when I was 12 years old due to ALS. He had to stop working when I was 10 and we had a so many great memories together for those two years. When he could drive he would take me to an amusement park and water park every summer and at the time I did not even know he was not allowed to ride the rides with his illness. But I was so young at the time I did not think anything of it, because I think he became sick when I was almost 10. I also remember every Wednesday we would go shopping when we could then go to Chick Fila A afterwards. We did this for a long time even before he got sick. I will never forget the time where he would let me miss school to just hang out with him. I remember when he first got sick, I would go to the gym with him, and he would work out for what felt like hours, and we would then go home and get ready for the day. Then again with the shopping, which would normal be Old Navy, Burlington, and of course TJ Maxx my personal favorite. I truly cherish these memories more than anything. I think my father is a great father figure because he taught me that love is everything. That life is so precious, and we have to cherish all of the moments we can. To be around the people we love, to enjoy the little things, and to be present in life. He taught me that love is a choice as well. That it can be so simple to show someone you love them. No just with gifts or going and doing things all the time. But rather watching a show together or even just playing with the dogs. In conclusion, and of course I am biased, but I really believe I have the best dad anyone can ask for. I really miss him more than words can even describe. I still struggle with his passing, but it is nice to look back on these memories and be happy. Of course I tear up thinking about him, but I realize now that I have great memories with him and I can smile looking back on them. Not just dwelling on the sad memories and the trauma.
