I am a great candidate because I am responsible and hard working. One of my life goals is to start a family and be successful in my career path. I've always wanted to become a doctor so that I could help people all over the world. Since tearing my ACL over the summer, I have expressed more interest in Kinesiology given that I've had to experience all of trials of Physical therapy and progress.

When I was little, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor. At first it was because I wanted to be just like the character "Doc McStuffins" on Disney Channel. I remember watching that show every day and playing with my stuffed animals making them my patients. As I grew up, I realized that becoming a doctor meant so much more to be than I had realized.
During the month of August, my grandfather was admitted into the emergency room due to having a heart condition called Atrial Fibrillation and Amyloidosis. I remember how helpless I felt in this situation knowing that there wasn't anything I could do. I wasn't in control and didn't know the severity of the situation. My grandfather was soon shipped to New York City to await a heart transplant before he succumbed to his poor health. He spent 71 days in that same hospital. Watching and waiting to receive a heart transplant. Finally, around Christmas time our prayers were answered. I will forever be grateful to God for hearing us and also pray that the family who lost a loved one knows just how grateful I am that even in a time of crisis they chose to give up organs in order to save my grandpa's life.
Throughout that whole experience, it taught me not only that I wish I could've been in control, but that I wanted to help people. Being a doctor didn't mean getting a degree to me. It meant curing and treating people who desperately need it. As far as inspiring people through my career goes, I rely on my grandpa's story. He had been through so much and yet he kept carrying on. Losing hope in this process was not an option for him.
Inspiring people can also be so much more than just telling them the story. It can also be making a lasting impression on them. My grandfather always talks about the nurses and doctors he spent time with and got to know so well. In building those relationships and bonds in can truly impact people in the way the see the career path. For me, hearing the story and reflecting on times I've spent in the hospital with him, not only inspires me to strive and be a person that can propose solutions for people when hope may be lost, but also to keep going on the path I want. Helping people is something that I crave so it will be my end goal in life to be a person of faith, usefulness, and assistance.
