My name is Isaac Biver. I am a 17-year-old Guitarist & Musician. I have been very blessed with the gift of music in my life and have had many amazing experiences so far on my journey as a musician. I specialize in many guitar styles including Fingerstyle Guitar, Blues Guitar, Jazz, Chicken Pickin, Singer-Songwriter & more. I have hundreds of influences who have shaped me to become the musician I am today. I started my professional life as a musician around 3 years ago when I started to get paid gigs at farmers markets, small restaurants, etc. Today, I have been many places I never would have dreamed of making it to. Among these are appearing on the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour TV & Radio Show 5 separate times, appearing at Mocassin Creek and Little Grassy GetDown Music Festivals, and being named the 2023 Grand Champion at the International Thumbpickers Hall of Fame. My experience and passion of music has affected and influenced me in my daily life in many ways. I believe that music has helped me open up to a wide range of ideas and feelings I never experienced before. Music has influenced my relationships with others in many ways as well. I have made many great friendships and connections through the gift of music with many other great musicians and many of my heroes. I have been extremely fortunate to get to know and play with players like Tommy Emmanuel, John Knowles, Richard Smith, and many others. Music has also helped me connect with others around me, whether it be my peers in the Marching Band at my school, my siblings, or the people that I call my friends. It has helped me make wise decisions about the people that I want to be around and share my music with. Guitar and Music have greatly influenced my career aspirations as well. I plan to be a solo guitarist touring around the country and the world while playing, performing, collaborating with many other great musicians/bands, teaching, and possibly doing some session or studio work. One of my goals as a musician is to continue to pass my talent and music on the guitar to other musicians as many of my heroes have done to me. I hope to give the gift of music to many younger generations of people around the world and to help inspire others to pursue music in their lives, so that they may later pass it on as well. If I have the opportunity to tour around the country and the world, I hope to help mentor and seek out many upcoming players who have a great passion for music like I do. I would also like to start some camps or workshops in existing guitar/music camps & conventions where I can help give the confidence that many musicians need and allow them to learn from my experiences so that they may learn and become inspired by it as well. I believe that music is one of the most important gifts one can obtain, and that it is alive in a way that connects people around the world, and to share something that important to others is one of the greatest things that I can do as a musician.

I got started with music with lessons from a family friend and quickly became obsessed. I would practice constantly, taking all the basic things he was teaching me while playing tunes from music books I had with chord sheets and charts on them. Once the COVID pandemic hit, I found a prodigy Fingerstyle Guitarist named Sungha Jung. This opened me up to a completely new world of the guitar as I didn't have much technique on the instrument beforehand. I began to grow a passion for Fingerstyle Guitar and loved the concept of being able to perform arrangments of tunes with melodies and harmonies while being able to accompany myself with bass and rhythm. I later found Chet Atkins, and my whole life changed. I soon opened up to many other guitar styles and became very passionate about many other styles of music. That passion has never ceased, and I am very excited to see where it takes me in the future. All of my many amazing journeys, experiences & opportunities have made me come to realize even more that I wish to continue to pursue music & the arts for the rest of my life.

I am interested in pursuing a Music Performance degree as I feel it will be the most beneficial for the goals I am trying to pursue through my career. I believe that pursuing a performance degree will allow me to connect with fellow musicians and work with like-minded individuals which will further my understanding of musicianship. This degree will also assist me with the essentials I will need to perform my music around the world while teaching and working with my peers. Music has greatly affected my life during my high school years in many ways. I started my musical journey around the time I was just starting high school with no interest in music beforehand at all. I quickly became obsessed after I started taking lessons from a family friend. I would play for hours, learning and playing different tunes I loved from many music books with chord sheets and charts that I had. When the pandemic hit, I got creative. I discovered a whole new side of the instrument. I discovered "Fingerstyle Guitar" from a Korean prodigy guitarist named Sungha Jung. I was fascinated by the idea of playing the melody while incorporating basslines, rhythm, and harmonies simultaneously. It was a long and difficult journey to start on Fingerstyle Guitar techniques as I hadn't had very much technique and great "skills" on the guitar beforehand. I would write out all kinds of tabs and things that I was watching on YouTube and would start learning many things by ear. I soon found many other players like Tommy Emmanuel, and later Chet Atkins. I was then introduced to "Thumbpicking", a whole new world of solo guitar playing. I would soon find players like Jerry Reed, Merle Travis, Lenny Breau, and Django Reinhardt. I was consistently working on all of this, and at the same time, learning about the history of all this music and all the great players. This helped me expand to all sorts of new styles and players. Around this time, I was also starting to play some gigs at local farmers markets and later some restaurants and other small venues. These interests in music have helped shape who I have made friends with and activities I have participated in at school. Music has greatly helped me connect with others, whether it be my peers in the Marching Band or the people I call my friends. Being part of activities like the Band has allowed me to meet others that share similar interests as me, and I will be forever grateful for that as there have been many people in my school life that haven't understood my passion and love for music. I am incredibly thankful for all those in my school who have supported me and helped me grow. Today, I have had many amazing experiences and have gotten to know many of my heroes and many fellow musicians. I have also since gotten into many Blues guitar styles as well and have studied players like BB King, Eric Clapton, and Mike Bloomfield. I am now fully immersed in the Chet Atkins world and know and have played with players like Tommy Emmanuel CGP, John Knowles CGP, Richard Smith, and many others. This year alone has been an incredible year for me musically. I attended my first Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention in Nashville and had the great honor of being chosen to play a tune on Scotty Moore's Gibson Country Gentlemen Guitar at the closing concert. I also competed in the 2023 International Thumbpicking Championship in Kentucky and came out as Grand Champion of both the Traditional and Junior Championships. I have also appeared on the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour TV/Radio Show 4 different times now. During my last appearance, I had the ultimate privilege of being asked to be on the show with Tommy Emmanuel, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams. All of these amazing opportunities I have had early on through my years in high school have already had a huge impact that will affect me for the rest of my life.

I believe my experiences have helped me become a more open and kind individual to others and have helped me want to grow more. I am passionate about music because it is something that has and will always be there for me no matter what and has given me an amazing experience that nothing else has.
