Hello! My name is Irene and I'm currently a high school senior. I am Korean-American and I have a deep passion for marine biology. I hope to further this interest by researching and conducting fieldwork to lessen the impacts of global warming and ocean acidification on coral reef ecosystems. I'm very artistically inclined; I love sketching, drawing, and playing the guitar, bass, and piano. I'm open to exploring alternative majors such as microbiology, and it would be an awesome opportunity to experience a college-level lab! I'm passionate about the STEM field, earning high academic achievements in my education, and taking advantage of the large array of advanced placement classes my high school provides. I play an active role in my community, using my Saturdays to volunteer for park/beach/street cleanups, plantings, and social services like passing out food/supplies for families in need. I also play an active role in my church as the bass player for our praise team, creating hoodie designs for retreats and missions, and leading our VBS crafts team.
