Hi! I am Inneloy Polanco, a senior from Nassau County and a first-generation, Dominican-American student. As I continue my pre-medicine studies at Barnard College of Columbia University, I aim to major in Computational Biology with a minor in Science and Public Policy. I aspire to become a pediatrician, the first physician in my family. My entire life, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in medicine, paving the way for years of selfless service by changing the lives of hundreds of patients. Affecting diverse communities from Black to Asian, neurodivergent, and disabled, an urgency exists to reform healthcare worker practice to create and maintain an environment of comfortability and ease; as a physician, I aim to create an inclusive medical environment, a standard often lacking in today's society. Being an FGLI student, I am no stranger to the increasing costs of higher education. As I grew up in a family that emphasized education, I long to live in a world where socioeconomic status is no longer a barrier to obtaining a degree; bold.org is the first step to making such a dream a reality.
