My life goal is to become an electrical engineer and serve the world through innovative technology. Losing my dad to a situation preventable with the right electrical engineering equipment ignited this passion. Good grades aren't just about academic success; they represent my commitment to acquiring skills to prevent similar tragedies. I'm driven by the desire to ensure others don't suffer like my dad did due to lack of technology. My personal connection to the field makes me a strong candidate, as I'm not just pursuing a career; I'm on a mission to make a difference and honor my father's memory.

"The Summer I Turned Pretty" Fan Scholarship
The Summer I Turned Pretty, created by Jenny Han in 2022, has captured the attention of the public over what seems to be one of the most controversial love triangles up to date. In the battle for who wins Belly Conklin’s heart, an uproar of arguing from the fans has begun over who is better for her: Jeremiah or Conrad Fisher. While book to series adaptation may play a role in my stance, I believe Jeremiah Fisher to be the best fit for Belly, as the best of partners can often come from those who are your closest friends, and Conrad seems to be emotionally unavailable and not know what he wants.
While watching the season and talking to others about their stance on the issue, I noticed one thing in particular that stood out: most of the fans who read the book were team Conrad, and those who had not were team Jeremiah. Part of this observation can be explained due to the fact that movies are not always the same as their book counterparts. Those who have read the book come in with a bias, as they already know how it ends, and have witnessed the love story between Belly and Conrad firsthand through the perspective of Belly as she tells the story. For those who have not read the book however, the same cannot be said. New watchers come in with fresh eyes, and view the story for what it is. The new watchers don’t know what happens next, and therefore can only make opinions based on only what has been given thus far. That is why when it comes to my opinion on whether or not Jeremiah or Conrad is better, I choose Jeremiah.
Throughout the series, Jeremiah is described as one of Belly’s best friends, always being a lighthearted, fun guy that she loves to spend time with. The same cannot be said for Conrad, as he is seen as the more moody, closed off brother of the two. In both seasons, Conrad Fisher pushes those he cares about away when things get difficult, and refuses to talk about his feelings on multiple occasions. Both these qualities don’t make him a bad person, but they do make him emotionally unavailable. Jeremiah on the other hand, does go through hardships akin to Conrad’s, but he handles them in a way that is less volatile. When it comes to who would be a better boyfriend, most can agree that the one who can handle their emotions and doesn’t push others away would be the better of the two.
Additionally, one should be with the person that makes them the best versions of themselves. While Belly was with Conrad, her grades slipped, she was kicked off the volleyball team, and her relationship with friends and family became strained. Whereas just days after she gets with Jeremiah, she’s back on the volleyball team with her friends. Being with someone who brings out the best in you fosters an environment of growth, positivity, and mutual support, something that Jeremiah can give her and Conrad cannot. Not only does Jeremiah make Belly a better person, but he keeps her smiling and having fun, which is crucial in maintaining a healthy relationship. Due to Conrad’s conflicting emotions and inability to express himself, paired with Jeremiah’s constant support and encouraging nature, it is clear that Jeremiah is the best brother for Belly (at least in this adaptation and with what we’ve been given thus far.
William A. Stuart Dream Scholarship
Electrical engineering is an engineering field of discipline concerned with the study, design, and application of knowledge on equipment, devices and Systems which use electricity, electronics , and electromagnetism.
Electrical engineers have played a vital role in modern computing and information technology development. Right from the time the first electronic computers were made to today's super computers and smartphones. This is how I intend to engage in the technology industry.
First of all, I would like to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. Electrical engineers develop technology upon which people depend every day.
As an aspising electrical engineer, one must complete a bachelors degree from a four-year college or university, Specifically in electrical engineering off which I am looking toward to pursue.
Also, I would like to gain practical experience through internships.
Electrical engineering is a field which is more practical, so I will like to gain experience in the field. Back in senior high school, I was the vice president of my School's robotics club, we creating a webinar and also enlightened other Students on coding, we also used the principles of electrolysis using lime and nails as electrodes to generate electricity by lightening a bulb as an experiment as MIT visited my school, also created remote control cars on knowledge we had about mechanics and machines. So I am looking forward in engaging myself into more practical work to increase my knowledge.
Networking and researches is also a key, I plan on making intense research on electrical engineering throughout history, electrical engineers have played an essential role in developing devices. Well known electrical engineers include Thomas Edison, who shaped history by creating the first practical lightbulb among other accomplishment. I will make researches and also learn from them though reading of their journals and articles.
Also I will like to read reputable tech news websites to stay informed about tech trends and innovations.
Health is the field I plan to engage in, in the technology industry the health care industry is evolving at an unprecedent pace, with technological advancement driving innovation in patients care diagnostics, and medical equipments. This transformation has created a demand for professionals who can navigate the intersection of healthcare and technology.
I plan to design and develop medical equipments that can help diagnose and treat diseases in a more efficient manner. Also, I plan to innovate on devices that need to be placed within a human body due to health issues, such as peacemaker.
I also plan to create prostheses; artificial limbs, Brain implants as well as devices that help restore mental and Cognitive function. My ultimate goal is to create a 3D printer that can print human organs that can be used Seamlessly in the body.
As an electrical engineeding student, this is how I intend in engaging in the technology industry and I’m super excited about using this to serve the community , Ghana and the world at large.I plan on making a difference in the energy sector.
This scholarship will certainly strengthen my opportunity to take multiple engineering Technology online courses and certification programs which I was not able to pay for due to my financial burden. The scholarship can help me further my professional training and certification goals that I have set for myself and will in turn help me start a true career in the technology industry. This Scholarship can also be used to assist me pay for my courses this coming fall. Overall, this scholarship will help me accomplish my current goal, move on to the next and eventfully become a successful professional in the technology industry .

Growing up in Ghana as an LGBTQ+ individual, I faced numerous challenges that tested my resilience and determination. One incident, in particular, stands out as a defining moment in my journey. It was the moment I decided to come out to my family, hoping for acceptance and understanding.
However, instead of support, I was met with rejection and hostility. My family's reaction left me feeling isolated and vulnerable, navigating a world that seemed determined to erase my identity. The cultural and societal norms in my community made being openly LGBTQ+ not only stigmatized but also dangerous.
As I tried to navigate my identity, I encountered discrimination and harassment both at school and within my community. This forced me to conceal my true self to avoid further persecution. It was a constant struggle to balance authenticity with self-preservation.
I remember when my classmates drew two boys on the board in terms of having anal sex and wrote my name and my other gay friend name to show that we are gay.No one wanted to be partners with us doing group meetings and even when playing. We got mocked all the time and memes always circulated about me.I was also denied the position of becoming a house prefect in my school all because I said I’m gay and I support LGBTQ+. The most painful of all was when I was rejected by everyone in my family and around me that I had to leave my community because they think it’s a shame and curse for one to like the same gender. I was accepted by my true lover that’s my boyfriend and his family. I live in a rented apartment with him and I’m happy because they like me how I am.
Despite these adversities, I refused to let the darkness consume me. I sought solace and support in online LGBTQ+ communities, where I found acceptance and validation. Through these connections, I learned to embrace my identity unapologetically, finding strength in solidarity with others who shared similar struggles.
My experiences fueled my passion for advocacy and social justice. I realized that I wanted to be part of the change, to fight for a more inclusive and accepting society. This drove my aspirations for higher education.
I envisioned pursuing studies in social sciences or human rights law, equipping myself with the knowledge and tools to challenge systemic discrimination and promote inclusivity. I wanted to become a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in Africa, leveraging my education to effect tangible change in policy and public perception.
However, financial constraints posed a significant barrier to achieving my educational goals. As an LGBTQ+ individual in Africa, accessing higher education was already challenging, and the added burden of limited resources made it seem almost impossible.
Receiving a scholarship would alleviate these financial burdens and enable me to pursue my aspirations with renewed vigor and focus. It would provide me with the opportunity to fully dedicate myself to my studies and activism, without the constant worry of financial instability.
With this support, I am confident that I can make a meaningful impact on the world. I am determined to amplify marginalized voices, challenge discriminatory practices, and foster dialogue and understanding within my community and beyond.
My journey as an LGBTQ+ individual in Ghana has been marked by hardship, but it has also instilled in me a fierce determination to fight for justice and equality. With this scholarship, I am one step closer to realizing my aspirations and making a lasting difference in the lives of others.
