I have been able to impact my community in a very positive way. As the outstanding student of the year 2024-2025, acknowledged by the district and mayor, I was held to a high standard. Whether it was a crying classmate, an upset friend, or a stressed-out teacher, I always tried my best to help people in the best way I could.
Being a part of Student Supporting Students was one way I supported my classmates through an organization. We were a group of kids who were very mixed, with some of us being black, white, Hispanic, quiet, outgoing, and every personality you could think of was in that room. However, we came together with a similar hope of being able to help students and let them know they are never alone. Being a friend of two past classmates who tried to commit suicide, bringing a positive and inclusive environment into a place like school is very important to me.
A lot of students in high school are often overwhelmed with academic pressure, mental struggles, and sometimes even family issues. I saw a lot of classmates make decisions that weren't in their normal character due to the pressure they were under. I saw teachers work themselves into the ground to show up for students, and I saw students who never felt seen or heard. I recognized that some of my classmates needed someone to step up for them, and I learned that real impact doesn't require authority; it requires compassion and taking initiative.
I was very blessed to also interact with students with special needs and disabilities, and being able to see them graduate when some of their parents never thought they would make it.
My impact in my school caused some of my classmates' grades to improve, their moods were often lighter, people felt more comfortable seeking professional help, and most importantly, I created a safer and more inclusive environment. I am not saying all of this to brag, but to show that it takes one person to step up and make a difference in their community, whether it is in their neighborhood or their school.
The impact that I had has encouraged me to continue pushing to further my education and earn my major in Nursing and my minor in Psychology. Nursing will allow me to provide direct patient care, while psychology will help me better understand behavior, trauma, and emotional responses. For example, a patient's blood pressure may be high, but so may their anxiety. I feel as if treating one symptom while not fully understanding the other is incomplete care. I hope to grow from a high school student offering comfort to a nurse fully equipped with clinical knowledge and psychological insight.

Dear Scholarship Panel,
My name is Imani Vincent and I am currently a senior at Birdville High School. I am currently in both varsity choir and show choir, a leader of my school's chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Students Supporting Students, and I recently received the Outstanding Citizen Award.
.I've been raised in a single-parent household my whole life with my mom as our main provider. In 2016, we were in a serious car accident that left her with head and back injuries, making it impossible for her to work for a time. From 2016 to 2019, I became her caregiver, helping her get dressed, cook, and manage daily life. It was also the first time I experienced homelessness at the age of 7. Despite her condition, my mom returned to work to support us. I went to 5 different elementary schools within a couple year while my mom tried to find a stable job that would support us financially. We ended up moving to North Dakota where everyday was hard. My mom was still going through the physical torment that the accident caused, but not only that she was also watching how the bullying I faced for just being black was impacting me. She herself started to go through the same struggles at work and made the decision to move us again. We then moved to Texas, where she found a job as a CPS worker, but faced emotional and verbal abuse at work, forcing her to quit for her mental health. She has been unemployed for over a year and we have fortunately been able to live on savings however, there’s not enough income for her to live securely and for me to attend a four-year university. These hardships have limited my opportunities and made community college my main path not because of a lack of drive and ambition, but from financial need.
These hardships have helped strengthen my belief in God and have also taught me resilience, discipline, and how to be more mindful and resourceful. It has helped me prioritize the little things in life and has helped me to work hard for everything I have.
I plan on making a positive impact on the world with my drive and determination to spread equality. I plan on majoring in business marketing where I hope to impact people world wide through either marketing, financial, or real estate opportunities. I believe that every person deserves to be treated equal no matter their economic background, skin color, or disability. I strive to use every opportunity I get to spread the love of Jesus and will continue to do so.
This scholarship would allow me to pay for college tuition and housing, and would help relieve my financial stress of paying for college. It would allow me to fulfill my dream of graduating with a degree in Business Marketing and finance with a focus in Real Estate.
My mom has been the most influential person in my life. She is incredible hardworking, but also very humble. She always wants the best for the people around her and drives for success day in and day out. My mom going back to work months after sustaining life changing injuries was one of the most selfless thing a mother can do. My mom has always made sure I knew the importance of having a good education and has always strived to give me the best opportunities to flourish. She has always encouraged me to dream big and my personal goals reflect that immensely.
