I aspire to pursue a career in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I intent to specialize in Machine learning and Robotics. Since my childhood, I have loved robots. My friends and I played outside, constructing robotic figures and cars using steel wires and discarded containers. When I got my first tablet I spent hours admiring robots Boston Dynamic's BigDog and later on spot and the Atlas. Due to my passions, I have spent countless hours researching robotics and eventually building my own. Through my research in robotics and as seen through robots built by myself, there is an evident limitation in machines abilities to respond to changes in the environment and lack of adaptability in existing past pre-programmed environments. I want to help fix these issues as I believe they would be extremely beneficial to the would and would be integral to further integrating machinery in our everyday lives. 2011, showed us limits in robotics through the Fukushima disaster and although Machine Learning has far evolved dramatically, robots would still be unable to help in the recovery in the disaster. On top of the improvements in disaster recovery, improvements to the responses of robots would help push robots to help humanity past handling the dirty tasks that would be dangerous for humans. It can be the option to those who need help in their homes to receive help and provide a more sense of independence as opposed to be assisted by humans. It can help machinery in the manufacturing floors to be able to follow simple tasks while being able to exist past pre-programmed floors, increasing their efficiency. Improvements that would be more evident to our daily lives would be the impact on autonomous vehicles, as it would make them drastically safer as they would be able to further perceive uncertainties in the road such as responding to bad conditions and unpredictable traffic conditions. They could also help assist doctors and nurses in medical operations, advance space exploration. The adaptability to changing weather conditions could help in changing their data collection, adjusting irrigation and fertilization improving areas such as agriculture and monitoring the environment . I plan to help achieve these improvements by attaining a mastery in the world of machine learning and through this assist in developing complex algorithms to be followed by the robots. Through these set of rules and instructions, robots will be able to apply them which would then allow for an improved response to stimuli. While in college, I hope to mix my research in machine-learning and robotics in order to bring progress to robots' response to stimuli and bring an evolution the world of machine learning.
