The trade that I want to learn is carpentry. I want to learn carpentry because I have always loved building things throughout my life wether it be legos when I was little or wood shop projects throughout high school. With carpentry I want to flip houses. I want to find those old worn down and plain dirty houses and I want to fix them up and sell them. This passion really just came from seeing the TV shows that my mom watch. I always knew that I wanted to be able to build things but I never knew what I wanted to do until one of those days that I sat with my mom and watched a house flipping shows.
Maureen "Moe" Graham Memorial Scholarship
A time when I displayed kindness and positivity while going through an obstacle was when my grandpa died. In February of this year my grandpa had passed away and it was a very hard thing to deal with. I had to go to school and had to go to sports practices and all I could think about was him. He was one of my biggest supporters and I had always loved seeing him.
Although it was a hard time I couldn't just make everything about me. A couple days after he had passed one of my friends had a Super Bowl party at their house. I had decided to go so I could get my mind off of what had happened and get into a space that I knew I would feel comfortable. So I went to the party and we had a great time just being able to be around my friends. Then after the party I went home and thats where I gets tough because my parents are also very emotional about his passing along with me.
When I went home I just felt really dark and gloomy in the house just by how my parents moods were. So it was very hard to stay in that happy mood that I was in when I was at the Super Bowl party. So I had listened to music to keep my mind on the path that I was on before I had went home. The hardest part was going to school.
Going to school was what I thought would be the best thing to do but little did I know at the time it wasn't. School was already very stressful because baseball season was just starting and I needed to keep my grades up. So throughout the rest of the school year it was getting easier to not think about him and keep my head up and looking towards what I needed to focus on.
Talking to friends was one of the best things to make school year better because they were always in good moods and always wanting to do things. So that made me feel a lot better as-well. Then came finals and at this time I was in a very good mood no longer gloomy and I knew that I had to go into them with a positive attitude. So come the 2 days for my finals I got good sleep and studied very hard and passed all of them.

My best back-to-school tip would be to find your friends and be yourself. Its like when I had moved schools I knew people from the school but we weren't exactly friends at the time. So I just acted like myself and I had found the people who were very similar to my interests. Thats the thing that I find sort of fun about school is the amount of different kinds of people that you can find that all have the same interests as you. The only way to find them to be yourself and they will drift towards you.
