Growing up in a Mexican household instilled in me a strong work ethic and resilience. I have learned to grow an appreciation for the opportunities that come with receiving an education. Seeing firsthand the sacrifices and dedication my parents made in building a better life for me and my brother inspired me to pursue excellence in all aspects of life. Carrying the weight of their aspirations and dreams, I take pride in the responsibility that fuels my dreams and aspirations for my future. Amidst the challenges brought by COVID-19, my family unfortunately faced economic hardships as my father lost his job. In response, our small toy vending business became a lifeline in our economic comeback, offering me insights into the intricacies and challenges of entrepreneurship. Given the circumstances, I had to balance navigating school during the pandemic while supporting my father in his new journey in entrepreneurship. Seeking opportunities to explore potential careers, the Los Angeles Rams Pathways to Success Mentorship Program helped open the doors for me. During the six months of this program, I learned the complexity and detail-oriented tasks that support Sofi Stadium and its service to its players, fans, and overall community. Some tasks included assisting in pregame rehearsals of the Star Spangled Banner, learning the intricacies of corporate partnerships, and providing help to survey the various corporate suites at Sofi. This opportunity provided a fusion of my passion for sports and business that I learned from my family. Through this experience, I realized my passion for studying business and wanting to work in marketing within sports or other diverse industries. As I advance in my academic journey, there will be something outside of my personal goals that I hope to accomplish. This goal is bringing to light the potential and empowering kids of impoverished backgrounds to pursue higher education. This is important to me because I grew up not having the same luxuries as the other kids or someone to guide me to college. In today's world, many low-income families, often minorities, are at a setback because they can’t send their kids to college. The hidden potential in these kids can’t be showcased because their economic situation is holding them back. Through my participation in the 6-month Rams Pathways to Success mentorship program, This experience set off this goal, and I plan to execute it by also providing mentorship to high-risk students from low-income backgrounds. I plan to create a club in college or a program in a future job where we can help educate, mentor, and establish bonds with these students to help promote personal growth. It will also expose them to attainable futures, whether college education or professional careers. Allowing them to chase their dreams.
